Mayweather is one of the best boxers in present time but he was scared of hatton lol

Thats deff one thing hatton can come away with, even though he's moved up a class to fight, he gave it a good g And Mayweather was not used to having people still coming at him all the way through a fight.

was a shame about the hatton fight buy mayweather was just playing it safe, kept backing off and using his reach to his advantage where as in his interview he said he'd be playing it all offensive.

i heard the guy khan was fighting had a f**ked jaw and a lot of his other competitors were set up to make his rep grow, might just be lies but not too sure

anyone got a link to the interview after the hatton fight? i was watching it in the casino so didn't have time really.

Why is that a bad thing ? If he knocks the opponent out faster thats surely better ?

Yes its good for him and his team, but people pay good money to watch him and time is 'reserved' for him on TV etc.

He needs to be able to give the people their moneys worth or they will soon start to go off him, and TV channels won't give him the chance to get his fights aired.

He needs to work on stamina (not sure what his stamina like currently) to make sure he can comfortably go 3 /4 rounds and make a good show with a few good sessions and jabs (take some jabs too), then KO in round 4/5. WILL make for a much more interesting fight and he will become a more popular boxer and entertainer, after all it is entertainment to those watching

i wouldnt say so much their set up, but the fact of the matter is, apart from possibly katsidis(see thats a fight i want to see in case you havent got the message) and diaz, khan is the best boxer in the lightweight division in the world at the moment. but, youve got to get some fights behind you, before you can take a world title shot, hes got to work his way up on the domestic boxing, then the european/commonwealth before he takes the world title shot. the people hes fought have been ranked similar to him on their record etc, it just happens that khan is a beast. (much like when celtic and rangers where on about goin into the english league, they could just go into the premiership where they deserved to be, theyd have to go up through the leagues before they got a shot at the premiership).

as for him knocking people out to quick, at the moment he doesnt want a long sluggin match he wants to distroy fighters and get the big ppv's,wants to get his name around as someone whos unstoppable, not only that he wants to end the fight quick, so hes ready to fight again as soon as possible, because he wants bragging rights of gaining the title at a younger age than naseem did. hes got 10+ years to get the big money PPV fights.

 Olis last ever post on this topic, RIP

I'm sure you mean well, but I'm not sure it's really the done thing? Especially bumping it after a few months, some people who were really close to Oli will see this an it'll evoke strong emotions. I'm just not certain whether you should be the person to bring it all back for those people. rip Oli legoman.

whilst this topic is here.. khan is biggest pile of bs ever in boxing since prince nas. Basically... the shitness that is currently british boxing stems from one person. Frank warren who gobbles up all the new up coming talent in boxing and turns them in to "money making" boxers. What this basically means is that people like khan will spend forever and a day boxing people who are quite frankly either past it, pure shit.. or in their previous fight got knocked from pillar to post and arent what they once were.

If someone wants to say that statement is bullshit.. it really isnt. Khan has said himself he wants to beat prince naseems record before july or june i forget as being one of the youngest champs. However, this is all well and good frank warren just picks him some nice easy fights he gets to his 30th fight undefeated.. fans supposidly pour in to see him. But.. soon as the poor f**ker goes off to fight "real" boxers , the likes of the americans/mexican hard chins he will get the biggest beating of his life. Retire before hes 25 and end up crashing his mclaren slr whilst overtaking over the brow of a hill (prince naseem style). Its unfair to young british boxers to be treated like marketing meat and has turned uk boxing in to a joke (its happened in other places too, watch some eurosport european boxing to see how bent the industry is on easy money).

There has been an acception, Ricky hatton who was lucky enough to see what frank warren was doing. I've followed him for a good few years now and after every fight under warren management it would be asked "so when is ricky going to be fighting the likes of the americans? for the big money/belts" rick would want it.. and in true warren style "when the offer is right we will take him there but for now we want him to solidify his place in uk boxing". Basically ricky was earning frank more money at the box office/sky sports by beating up no namers than losing in america.

Ricky knew what was going on, he fell out with his dad about it all but in the end ditched warren for a new manager.. and look what has happened.. fights for the biggest amount of money of his career against floyd mayweather , even fighting out of his own class and still giving it all he had. Yea he lost, but so what.. he did it with dignity and other big losers such as lennox went on to dominate their weight class (as ricky does when he drops out of middle weight). But i can assure someone without the same character such as khan.. wont like being beaten up by people and he has been down on the mat a couple of times now again people who are blatantly shit .. the guy is way too cocky for his own good purely because of warren picking the "easy" options.

rofl.. just went on a site to look up ticket prices etc for this khan fight and my point is honestly proven with the following quote:

"takes on the tough Aussie veteran, Gairy St Clair, who Frank Warren says will be Khan's toughest test yet."

Aussie veteran.. LOL... .. another old man

http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human...6&cat=boxer

He boxes for money blatantly.. 3 fights in a month losing 2 and now another fight against khan, who is well rested... f**kin idiot khan has knocked out nearly the same amount of boxers in 1/6th of the fights. I wouldnt pay to watch this one :-p

yea, thats pretty much how it is seen though.. he is fun to watch. But he has no real credibility he wins a lot of nothing kinda thing. I mean hes still defending a commonwealth title.. very pointless.. but ah well.. im sure there will be some upsets before the year is over. For me the hatton vs mayweather fight was a lot more entertaining than a 70 second khan fight. Although i guesse im just bitter that i paid £12 to watch a naseem fight which lasted 30 seconds...

i really dont like khan that much, as for the frank warren comment chris, i kind of agree, but at the same time, he is bringing boxing to the public really, also a lot of the boxers are quite happy to have him as manager, as he is like the big name, and brings in the big(ish) money fights for them quite thick and fast.

as for khan, wanna see him fight katsidis myself. think thatd be a real good fight.

but yea, saturdays fight is clearly in the bag for khan, come on, bookmakers are offering 1/10 odds on khan, st claire aint got a chance.

i dont really follow khans division at all.. infact.. its f**kin unreal how many divisions there now are. Was lookin in to ricky hattons movements between between middleweigth etc and there are litteraly like 8lbs that seperate some of the lower divisions like straw weight etc .. so retarded. Thats only within one boxing authority as well, theres like 3 or 4 of them with their own divisions.. no wonder there are so many champions

Surely everyone knows that khan fought part-timers to get his rep up and it bloody worked because he's now pretty much one of the best known boxers in the uk.

the problem is he's abit of a cocky shite (no i wouldn't say it to his face) but he's also an incredibly good boxxer he's quick, powerful, his foot work is pretty awesome and he get's the job done quickly. Which is much better than the boring long fights by 2 huge lumps of solid muscle and lack of brain.

I only watch the lower weight fights because I can't stand heavy weight stuff, these incredibly long forced step through punches are boring I like quick on your feet in and out sort of stuff.

I hope hatton get's another shot it'll be entertaining. (Y)

imo it would be a very very very unwise move for hatton to fight mayweather again. Mayweathers record is untouchable, he is clearly something special in his weight division. Hatton dominates his "natural" weight, but moving up and facing the likes of mayweather.. who is undefeated in his own division is a silly silly move. It was worth a shot once, but not again.. you cant take out someone with raw natural talent in his natural weight.

Also whilst on the subject of weight, khan isnt fighting in his natural weight yet.. if you look at people he fights he is a much heavier build. The guys he fights have matured in to their weight divison (what khan is currently fighting) hence why khan is knocking out 30 year olds. He is still growing and i would suspect he will be in the same division as hatton or even heavier once he is done and guesse what.. he hasnt got what it takes to fight people like that.

he says though, he doesnt want people to remember ricky hatton as a looser, from his last fight. He wants to go back and people to remember him as a winner or give him credit for trying !
