A Bit Of A Weird Idea

It's been done on the odd big hit MTB as a way of giving more clearance for both mud and to allow the wheel to come up further. Apart from that I can really see no point in it, It would make spins easier but then again so would runnign both wheels 24 and that does not feel/look gay. Having a 26 inch front wheel and 24 inch rear is not really going to benefit you for trials, it comes more to the geometry of the bike and the way you ride. If you cant handle both wheels 26" go to 24 on both, or even mod.

Why Mix and Match!?

I recall an incarnation of the specialised big hit have a 24" rear and 26" front?

It was the original incarnation of the Big Hit. To be honest it felt awesome. It felt so nimble, but getting good rims/tyres for it at the time was a pain. Goldtec made a rear end for it to convert it to 26/26 with an extra inch of rear travel, it was great for straight lining stuff but totally killed the handling.
