A friend of mine had the same problem as you, he was tall and he was riding a 20", but then he went to 26" and his back pains where a lot better then before, so it could depend on height and size of bike maybe??

im only 13 and around 5ft 8 so it shouldn't really be that

It could also be that you're just using muscles you haven't before - you're still developing. By all means try different component combos, but if it doesn't work then maybe listen to your body a bit and give it a little rest.

over the past few weeks the lower part of my back is really starting to hurt when im riding, im unsure on how its happened and its really annoying. Does anyone else have this problem and know how to treat it?

Deep heat cream and pain killers should do it.

Better to suffer the pain, that way you arent going to ride whilst its still hurting = letting the muscles recover before you damage them further :)

As JD said, its likely just muscular pain from overworking muscles you dont often use, give it a couple of days to recover until it stops hurting and go out riding again, they will soon aclimatise to the work.
