well basically i have seen loads of good riders doing this and want to learn:

first question how high should the wall be to start practicing on?

secondly what technique do you use do you have to bounce the front wheel on the wall for more uplift?

any ideas, cheers Dave!

two most important tips....

SPEEED

WEIGHT FORWARDS

if you dont have enough speed, you wont have the momentum to get up

if you dont have your weigh forwards enough, you will just bounce off the wall

Start on a wall bigger than your wheelbase, when your front wheel is over the top you dont want the back wheel touching the floor, sloped walls are a LOT easier than vertical ones.

I thought a jap slap was the same beginning as a hook and then you sortof wheelswapped straight to back wheel? like hit, compress, bang straight to backwheel. rather than hit, compress, push forward and then swithc to back?

thats what i thourght a jap slap was, as for hooks, what ali said, go fast (faster than for a tap) and lean forward, and try and bend your legs under your bars to get far foward ( how vince ect do it )

WHO CARES WHAT IT IS CALLED

for hooks / japslaps / wall bangers / camel hooks, whatever you call it

SPEED, CONFIDENCE, LACK OF BACK BRAKE PULLAGE, POWER UP MIN

you have to go fast, so you carry your momentum, pulling the back break usually stops you dead so dont use it, be confident you can make it, and be a power house
