What Shoes Do You Like The Best ?

Recommended Posts

yer l what ash said they fit better cos of straps and clips, i have quite a few different pairs of shoes (skate and normal trainers) and have ridden in all of them, and i find the tighter and softer/thinner the sole the better, my feet can just feel the bike more.

i only ride with adidas superstars 2 now, they're like the perfect shoe. but obviously its down to personal opinion, i can't justify spending £60+ on a trials specific shoe yet.

I don't have a choice of being able to pick up ribo's as someone decided there isn't a market for them in size 15 :(

So i just go with skateshoes, vans usually... though i've been using boras lately and they're pretty good. I just usually tend to go with something with a fairly thing sole or at least something thats pretty flexible. Which is where the vans stuff seems to be a bit better than globe, etnies and the like. As for having it as a tighter fitting with the ribo's.... just tighten your shoe laces up more :S.

Usually use some kind of skate shoe - DC's at the moment. I used Converse Allstars for a while and the thin sole was brilliant for extra feel, almost like a pair of Ribos e.t.c for half the price. Problem was the canvas bodies weren't padded enough and didnt reach my ankles so I was always caning them against my cranks when I sidehopped. I wouldn't really buy specialist trials shoes unless I was competing or something, they're pretty expensive and its not like they have the dual purposeness of trainers - you'd get some pretty funny looks in the pub if you went out in them...

If you're going for skate style trainers, pick up some Vans with the waffle sole. The Old Skools are a bit to thin, and hurt my feet when i'm riding. I'm riding TNTs at the moment, but craving for an old pair of Vans Knu Skools!!! By far the best riding trainers I've ever used. Went through three pairs of the buggers riding DH, dirt, street, and trials, with each pair lasting about 2-3 years of ridng almost everyday when i was at high school and college

I would have to say Ribo's, they are very comfy and they feel really grippy on the pedals. If you prefer competition riding i would reccomend a pair - most comps now a days check or state that you must have addequite footwear that complys to BIU standard (ankle protection ect)

I've found i can feel the pedal more and that in turn helps to feel where the back wheel is.

I did wear skate style shoes for abit before i bought me Ribo's but they were really loose and i did turn/twist my ankles alot when sidehopping.

And what if you can't get them because they don't go up to size 15? You can't compete? If i ever went to one of these discriminitive competitions someone would have hell to pay
