I'm looking at the lever and thinking that access to that master cylinder bleed nut is going to be damn tricky, it's so close to the bars and there's that angular piston piece the other side, gonna be a right bugger to unscrew! Apart from that they look nice, but until anyone has tested them it's hard to see the point, if they turn out to be super good then we'll all say what a good idea they were. I mean machining may be stronger than casting but we're not using them as bashguards we're using them as breaks, does that make any noticeable difference in terms of braking performance? Davey

Haha, Good old wikipedia eh Janson It would appear that, in general, rough surfaces have higher friction values. There is a section on friction however which relates to materials which have "adhesive" qualities, not in the absolute sense but rather that they are mildly sticky like some tyres and a lot of trials pads (certainly any rim where tar is involved) in which case according to Wikipedia surface area does affect friction, perhaps this explains it, otherwise I am not sure of exactly why it is that ground rims seem to be so shite, in my own personal experience. OR you could just not grind them, haha. This will start an argument, but I hate grinded rims, other people have different experiences but I find unground rims work better due to greater surface area contact with the pad (needs to be set up properly so it contacts parallel), and a little tar gives that extra bite. Since buying a new wheel second hand with a grind already on my brakes have been slipping loads! Also pads dont wear out as fast on unground rims. Anyway, I'll shut up now and let someone explain how to grin a rim, as I would never do it so have no idea, haha! Davey

I don't think it's as socially unacceptable as you would think, certainly not in this day and age when parents let kids as young as 10 go and play on the streets till gone 10pm, people grow up faster, it's always been a case that girls go for older guys and as they mature so much faster these days the age gap increases. I think you'll find people don't have much of an issue in general, certainly I never got any grief about it at the time. In fact I can honestly say that even now at the age of 22 if I met a girl and really liked her and subsequently found out she was 15 I'd probably still consider it. So there you go, that's my controvertial opinion!! Davey
