  1. Slightly pointless topic no offence, like Ben John-Hynes said you can make a video whenever you like. Plus what someone else is like after a years riding may be completely different to your own progression. Dan
  2. To be fair the front hub isnt too important in my eyes, mostly just rolls and dosnt take hardly any stress compared to the rear so upgrade that last. For rear hubs its really your budget, hope pro 2s are favoured by many and in my opinion the nicest hub on the market, i would like to get one myself again in the near future On the crank side of things if your going for a freehub on the back theres a lot of choice in terms of cranks. Most echo, zoo etc cranks are strong and will do the job. Middleburns are the nicest in my opinion but again thats your choice. Again bashguard choice is up to you there are many options available. Obviously if your going for front freewheel ignore most of what i wrote above as you will need a fixed rear hub rather than freehub however i have never run a front freewheel so cant really offer much advice on them. I would definetly advice using a chain tensioner with vertical dropouts, its very unlikely you wil get an exact chain length that doesn't need tensioning, plus tensioners are cheap or you can make one yourself fairly easily out of just about anything springy lol. In terms of gearing you usually get a 20 or 22tooth front chainring with either 16,17 or 18 rear sprocket. I personally run 22/18... well I think i do lol. I would also recomend going second hand for a lot of this stuff it will save you loads and to be fair cranks and bashguards etc soon look second hand with the abuse it gets through trials. Plus when your validated the buy/sell forum on here is great. Sorry if i rambled too much but hope that helped Dan
  3. You might be jumping the gun a bit there, personally i think your best off learning to backhop first to help with balance. When your fairly competent with that start hopping and then drop the front of your bike and at the same time as letting of your rear brake give it a quick kick. You may only move forward a few inches at a time but keep at it and you will be kicking a couple feet in no time
  4. Usually the whole point of the bearing being sealed is exactly that. You dont need to grease it as the bearings etc are sealed in and all with its own grease. And just a tip to help you get validated quicker you may want to proof read your posts for spelling etc
  5. Korn - Twisted transistor By far one of my favourite tunes of all time.
  6. Yep I just made an arse out of myself lol, this is what happens when you have been staring at a computer screen for almost 10hours lol
  7. Takes me about 15mins in the car but probs could cycle it and may do when the weather gets better and when i have a normal road bike or mtb lol. Edit: Had to adjust post due to my own stupidity
  8. Bike looks nice only thing i dont like is the colour of that stem and headset, gold hubs look cool but the stem and headset with the brown frame looks a bit sickly lol. All personal preference though and im sure she rides sweet. The more 24s i see the more i think of jumping on the 24 band wagon
  9. Could do with a couple more choices in the poll, maybe do you ride once a week? Once a month? You get the idea. Im sure a poll like this has probs been done before but anyways lol. I personally only ride once every few months due to being too busy with work and generally being quite lazy once iv finished work. Also my mates don't want to come out that often nowadays and even though I dont mind riding on my own it can get boring after a while. Also where i live theres not a lot to ride without actually making an effort to go somewhere and with the weather like it is at the moment im not driving anywhere more than i have to. Cool topic none the less, be interesting to see how many users really do just come on here for a laugh Dan
  10. Nice overall, only gripe is that i dont like frames with the headtube cut out. Brings down the whole look of the bike but ah well. Also rear wheel would definetly look better black or silver but hey its your temp bike
  11. Yep i would like to announce that i have............................................... Cast my vote . Fill in a pole and possibly win a frame, this sounds too good to be true? Ha ha.
  12. With a few good hard hits using a lump hammer and a chisel/big punch it should pop out, the reason its jammed is its probably hit a small lump or cross binded. Give it some proper love and im sure it will pop out. Im sure your local bike shop will sort it out fine its just something like that im sure you could beat out yourself. Dan
  13. Hi, I had a similar crank arm problem with a left middleburn crank, you might have too long a bolt in your crank arm and its just going tight due to bottoming out in the bb so not clamping the arm to the bb. Try putting some washers between the head of the bolt and the crank arm and see if that makes any difference. Might be something else but that's the only problem i've ever had. And as far as the marta, have you checked for leaks and any loose fittings? It may just be coincidence a fitting has come loose 2 days after you fitted your lever. Dan
  14. Yes it is definetly better to have chain tension. A loose chain will wear quicker as everytime you kick hard your snatching the chain which will probably lead to your chain snapping prematurely. And yes your drive will be nowhere near as direct as it would be with a tensioner as you have to take the slack out of the chain before it will even start to engage the hub. If you can't be asked to make one theres cheap single arm tensioners on ebay or like mentioned above just look on tarty bikes. Dan
  15. To be honest in your situation I would definetly get a disc, if you had proper 4 bolt mounts on your frame then I would tell you to keep with hs33 but evo mounts really arn't worth the hassle. The only thing you have to get use to with a disc is the different feel on the back wheel, when you first hop with a rear disc it sort of feels like the wheel is floating around, i guess it sort of is because it can move side to side but you soon get use to it. Buy what you can afford, I would always say a hydraulic brake is better over cable from my experience. I found the magura louise discs to have a fairly good hold and you can do a lot worse then a mono trial. I guess you braking the frame is more down to how hard you ride, if you do a lot of big stuff then maybe it will crack but to be fair if you don't abuse it too much you should be alright. Don't blame me if it does crack though lol. Sorry for the blabering just thought I would say something as I really don't think vee brakes or evo mounts with a hs33 are the way forward. Dan
  16. Ye but almost all of the replies in that thread are about how good the video is whereas a lot of the replies in this thread are much more mixed and negative towards the original poster. What I actually meant was its been interesting to see how many people have been so negative towards someones riding style. Anyways that wasn't the whole point of my last post
  17. First of all hats off to you for creating such a talking point, I don't think i've seen a video thread with so many replies lol. Anyways back to the video. First thing is I think you should definetly wear a helmet but about the riding: I thought it was good, I liked the spins but as mentioned earlier by someone else there was a few moments where an extra spin probably wasn't needed and made a line look slightly less smooth. I also think you are limiting yourself by not having a front brake fitted. You are fairly skilled at the bmx style moves and I don't have a problem about you doing them on a trials bike but you said earlier you don't like hopping down stuff as it scares you because you think you're going to brake your frame, no offense but unless your doing big drops (which by the sounds of it your not) or damaging the bike in some other way you shouldn't be braking frames. Also there are so many other trials moves that you could probably pull off considering how good your balance seems already, such as nose pivots, g turns and many other tricks (front brake would obviously help for some of these as mentioned earlier). You say you have tried most combinations including an inspired, what exactly did you not like about the fourplay? I havn't rode one personally but i've rode quite a few other 24s such as ns bikes and dmr's etc and found them much smoother and nicer to do bmx type stuff on then an actual bmx. Anyways don't let anyone bring you down, ride how you want and good luck with finding your hybrid combination. Please don't take my comments as being offensive as im just curious and trying to help. Cheers
  18. I must admit the azonic dw bars I use to have on my old bt 4.0 trials bike were the nicest feeling bars i've ridden with. When I get my next stock I will be looking for a second hand pair as i'm not keen on the flat try all/deng style bars that most people run. The dw bars seemed a good seller too, don't really know why they stopped making the old ones, progression I guess Cheers
  19. I know this dosn't directly help you but have you tried ringing/e-mailing tartybikes or chain reaction cycles? Someone at one of those will probably know. Cheers
  20. Im not thinking of sending any footage or anything as I don't have a camera but I was thinking about the whole idea earlier. I don't want to seem like an asshole and I think the idea is good but it sounds like it's going to be a fairly repetitive video. I mean say there are 10 beginners out of the 30 odd (I would include myelf in this category) it's likely each 15 or 30 second clip is going to have similar pedal hop, gap or basic pivot etc as thats all most of us beginners can do. After 15mins of seeing the same moves over and over again but just by different people it may get slightly boring. I'm not saying you cannot do what your trying as it's an interesting concept. I just think it might not turn out quite how you imagined and although you may want everyone involved it may not make interesting viewing for 15mins unless there is lots of variation which probably means lots clips of the better riders. A solution to this may be to try an organize what each person is doing, maybe say a few people doing gaps to front, some drops, the better riders maybe doing some nose hops and g turns etc, I hope you see what I'm trying to say basically the more variations of moves the more interesting the video. Good luck with whatever the outcome! Dan
  21. Sweet! Nice and chilled out riding, the way all decent sessions go down. Keep it up! Dan
  22. Ticked 26" trials and dirtjump 24/26". I ride a stock trials bike and a 26" rigid jump bike but i don't really do much dirt jumping on it, im much more into park riding. Maybe you should add another category, ' 26" street/park '. Cool poll by the way, haven't seen a topic like this before. Dan
  23. To be honest you learn the technique and then slowly the height of things increase, im not really one to speak though as i cant get above 1ft with most moves. Now if your after techniques there are lots of websites you can go on, your best bet is to just use the search. Hope this helps. Dan
  24. Sweet! If i could afford a second bike that would be exactly what i would have. All it needs now is some streety, spinny style riding
  25. Looks mint, the only thing i would change is the colour of the bars, maybe silver or black to fit the colour scheme better. Looks lush though. Weight? Dan
