  1. I've had the octane one bars, they're big! You'll probably wanna take all those spacers out (try that first) or try a much lower stem, I found an 80/90mm x 10 deg with minimal spacers usually worked best with a pashley. They have long head tubes too which effectively stacks it up before you add any spacers. Bloody nice bike though!
  2. Nice! But a tip...I think you'll find it'd ride a lot better with a lower stem, it really doesn't have the bb height to warrant a front end that high.
  3. I got asked once "Oi bruv, how long you been skatin'?"....picture that in a "phone shop" accent.
  4. Yeah he's done forks for a while, I haven't had any, I'd love to try some though
  5. Actually Marino gave me the head angles I asked for, it was due to bad research on my part. I was raised on an Orange Zero which had the head angle of a Harley Davidson On the subject, give him he exact geo of the forks you'll be using, a few mm here & there makes a big difference.
  6. Cheers, the head angle was more of a mistake than a choice lol, it just makes front wheel moves a chore, and I kind of like the slow steering...
  7. Cheers! My bars are 41" at the top from the ground, which is pretty much what all my past 26" bikes have been. I don't think a Skye would be too short for back wheel stuff, depends what your expectations are though, mine's surprisingly good considering what the bike is for, but I think the fairly low bb is a bigger reason it might feel hard work compared to a fourplay etc.
  8. Here's my 24, it's basically a Skye with a slacker head angle. It weighs 4.8 lbs, an inspired Skye weighs 5.3, so weight's really not an issue with the 4130 cro-mo, don't compare them to the old steel Marino's, they're nothing alike. Biggest thing I can say is do your homework with geometry! I like my bikes but given the choice I'd still make minor adjustments. I've treated this and my 26" quite badly deliberately and nothing whatsoever has bent/cracked/broke. I mean you could just build a Marino with Skye geo, it'd be half a kilo lighter and you'd save about a grand.
  9. Haha, cheers! No sadly the container was only about 8ft wide so there was no run up available for a gap that size. I had to gap down then across all 3, first was wobbly, second was worse, third one just couldn't take the weight & ruined my moment! We even did the "grab with one hand & shake slightly" test & it all seemed to hold up! Footage looks good though It's quite a spectacular stack. It was touch & go though, I think a 10 stone kid on a mod could probably get across without capsizing anything.
  10. I thought that's something that'd be around forever! Is there a reason?
  11. Experiment with every height you can, I basically set mine up to pull up effortlessly, too low & it's too hard, but there is such a thing as too high as well. For me too high is when the balance point on the back wheel (manuals mainly) becomes too low, I just don't like the feel of it & I feel limited on bunnyhops as the bars are already so high but my feet are in the same place.
  12. That up/gap/f**k from that horrible bollard at 2.25 was just beyond me. f**k that lol.
  13. Popular among who? Trials riders who closely watch competitions? Your average person will have never heard of Giacomo, Danny Mac has been in newspapers in America, tv everywhere, rude-tube, millions of internet views, had a bloody event dedicated to him in Scotland, and rightly so, promotion-wise....what's Giacamo ever done? He may be a pogo hero but no, hes nowhere near as well known as Danny and never will be. The image comp riding gives is not a viewer friendly one that's going to make him well known outside the hardcore fans.
  14. Those "show offs" are the ones sponsored by top companies making great videos getting seen all over the world, being on tv, getting more & more people interested in the sport. You can't really say the same for the ones hopping around in the woods wearing leotards, I'm sure he likes the way it makes his balls feel but it's hardly gonna draw people to the sport is it? I know he doesn't give a shit about drawing in more attention to the sport, but riders like all the Inspired lot and anyone making big videos that get a lot of views are way more important to the sport than some bloke doin big hops in a forest somewhere. So comp riders switching to street...I fail to see how that's a shame.
  15. When I was about 19, there was a shabby old van parked up against a 13ft wall in town, with the driver in it reading a paper. So I seized the opportunity to drop down onto his roof, then off his roof to the floor & ride off very quickly, he got out ready to chase me & called me a fanny rather loudly, which I can understand.
  16. I hate long bikes even more after watching (enduring) that. It'd be easier to watch if they at least edited out the 2 minutes of trackstanding.
  17. I was gonna buy one for my spare bike but I read a lot of bad reviews on freehub bodies falling apart & working loose. I think some are good and some are bad, but a lot seem bad.
  18. Right, just put them on, the bite is amazing, but the thin plastic backings and super soft material is too flexy, I can see it all compress under pressure, too spongy & I have to have the pads a mile away from the rim. So....what is the the absolute best pad I can buy for a smooth rim? I hate noise, I like a nice solid feeling brake, most rigid pad possible, suggestions? I'm not up for spending £30 on pads but I'm sure there are decent alternatives.
  19. I suspected this...they do feel quite soft, but is the pad/backing seperating an issue? Seems the pad should be sat much further in the backings.
  20. I have a set of new rimjams (oldest model I think) but I googled them & the 1st thing I saw was a broken pair. I use a smooth rim & a bit of tar. Do I need to worry? Seems like a lot of material & not much backing, there's not a lot of material sat in the backing either, opinions ta.....
  21. I love zebdi's, but if that's how you like your front end, you need a new frame lol. That's a mod front end with a zero rise bb! Even for the hoppy pogo moves, you'd benefit from a lower shorter stem. 90mm x 10/15 ish, do it!
