  1. I once read that most serial killers have the same issue, longer index finger, no joke.
  2. Gapped to front, and snapped a bolt to my front Maggie mount. Was on a rock, and rolled of the end landing on my bars-that sucked. Breaking handle bars or stems, on front wheel moves, seams to be the worst case scenario to me. Can't imagine how my chest would feel after that.
  3. I wasn't trying to be an ass, I just wanted to know if this was some kind of joke. I now understand that some need a whack, some do not. I was not sure thats all. No I wasn't trying to go across the bulk of advice, just figured it would not hurt to try to pry the wedge out. I had no idea that there was a wedge, so I would say the advice given concerning it was solid advice. I appreciate all the others chiming in. I always approach a project a little cautiously to prevent ruining shit.
  4. So I removed the split wedge ring, and the fork popped out. No whacking of steerer tube required. Would all U that told me to hit it harder not feel like ass holes if I posted up a pic of the fork you encouraged me to ruin. Why would you post the worst advice possible? I thought this was a sight where I could get good advice, and learn about trials, but perhaps I was wrong......And people say Americans are RUDE...
  5. How much drop do you need to practice gaps? I see that most people move down a little while gapping, at first, the move up. I have been trying to learn from 1 pallet to 1 pallet. Is this high enough? I tend to hit the ground once in a while with the rear tire. Sorry not tryin to jack your thread but it seemed to fit.
  6. Welcome, nice to see a new bike being ridden. So you say they make that frame in your area? Is it available anywhere else, or is it a local small production kind of a thing?
  7. OK, you wanna cap the forum. Thats a lame idea. Why would you want to limit the new people who are entering the sport? Without fresh blood this sport would die! People get hurt, busy, and a host of other reasons, and quit trials. So in a few years there would be very few riders. Don't forget that those NOOBS you hate on, are buying mostly used equipment so you can afford a new setup. Not quite sure why you, who made this pointless thread, would hate on anyone, but this shows your level of commitment to the trials community.
  8. Thanks All, I'l be whakn away asap....
  9. Why do I feel like u r messing with me? Now I am unsure what to do....
  10. I need to remove my fork to put a new one on, but I have never owned a bike with a mod style fork and stem. I removed the top Allen, and the stem, but the fork doesn't come out. I put a piece of wood on it and whacked it a few, but didn't budge. Is there some kind of lock ring on a thread less headset? It's a FSA headset. Do I need to hit it harder? Doesn't seem right, any help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Brake parts cleaner, or Carburator cleaner works well, both cheap and avail at any auto parts store.
  12. The engraver will not work. But if your dad says the engraver is ok, then use a grinder and tell him it was the engraver. If not Monty makes that brake-spray for a reason, I would think it would help, at least it could not hurt.
  13. Good luck, wish I had advice but this has kicked me in the ass. Sounds like you want to do a peddle up for a while to build confidence. Tap may equal death in my opinion.
  14. Try spotting your landing instead. Works for me. How long have you been at the trials thing? Also may help to visualize you going and doing what ever move you are attempting.
  15. Gu LE but Titanium and with a "magical" adjustable bottom bracket height. Dual disk for sure. Can't forget a ridiculous weight like 5 lbs complete, you did say dream bike...
  16. Now I understand what it is you want to do. I was at that point a few months ago. The advice that was given to me that helped: Put front tire on parking divider or curb. Track stand there, then peddle and hop a little to put the rear wheel on the curb (also known as a wheel swap I believe). Should be about 1/16 peddle stroke, just a little kick. If your back brakes are not great this will equal a headache for sure. The objective is a rear wheel stall on the curb. This tought me the body motion required to peddle kick. After that exercise lacing together little peddle kicks was next. In grass from a trackstand kick the peddles hard (same 1/16th stroke) to make the bike move forward and wheelie at the same time, pause and kick again. Land both tires together at first, and slowly work your weight back until you are able to kick to the back wheel. This is more an exercise in brake and peddle timing then anything, but thats what I needed, and perhaps it will help you. Good luck, and where a helmet while learning this. Also check out Ryan Lynch how to videos on Youtube.
  17. Should not be that difficult, unless you are small or real short. The issue may be that your weight is still in front of your bottom bracket, try to get your ass behind the bracket. If you are already doing this then I would say that a shorter stem or a up swept handlebar may be of help. The best thing to do is try to transfer a little weight forward first, then back. The momentum should make this easier for you.

    Band Brakes!

The V shaped piece that pulls could be bigger. Could try to make one that has a longer side and a shorter side (the cable side should be the short side), that would give you some mechanical advantage.
  19. Does anyone have experience with the GU levers? They look like they would be nicer for the fingers, more ergonomically correct looking.
  20. Nice to e-meet you tappets. Good to see that there are other yanks on the sight besides me. Have a great day.
  21. Sounds like Dan needs to get a youngster to come and trade time for parts. Some help seems to be in order. Perhaps the local riders who apreciate his service to the industry would like to have a bike business apprenticeship program. Just a random idea...
  22. How long do you think that the raw alum. will look good? Hope you do not live near the ocean, salt will eat the hell out of alum. Maguires makes a cotton wadding, with some waxy kinda stuff in it, that will prevent oxidation of alum.
