  1. Is anyone around this afternoon? Joe ?
  2. Same! Anyone up for a ride this afternoon?
  3. It wasnt a big secret. I think it just pissed her off that it came out to a few people like that. Tis all good now. Made up and shizz. Still want to bang my housemate's though........
  4. So its freshers week, been smashed pretty much all week so far (weekend included). Last night In conversation told one of our house mates that my girlfriend's mum had died a while ago (through suicide). Whilst all of that is true, it really upset her obviously and we are living together at the mo. I havnt spoken to her today, and i just feel like a right fanny. But to top it all off, i cant see our relationship working, and im living in a house full of really hot girls. Damn it.
  5. Indeed. 1st year Geology. Shall get out for a drink man
  6. What you studying bro? 1st year?
  7. LOVED that! His riding is so fluid!
  8. Im moving in this weekend, so as useless as it is, ill be around after then!
  9. Excuse the pun, but oil company's and governments are burying there heads in the sand ( ). Due to the global economy being centred around oil, oil company's are bound to exploit every recourse they can lay there hands on. Weather that's f**king up a native's house, a town, or hundreds of square km's of wilderness. All the windfarms and wave power is also pissing into the wind, as there is no way a small advance in appallingly low efficiency equipment, will sustain nations like our's forever. Solar panel's should be law on every building in country (Really world, but that wont happen), or fit a domestic wind turbine in the gardens of houses, or property's that can accommodate them. Bring back nuclear. And advance in Geothermal power. But of course what's the point when we can still drink oil? Don't get me wrong, Im not a environmentalist. I do respect nature, and its beauty. That ^^ is just hindsight.
  10. Weight. Dont get me wrong I much prefer coil forks on a MTB, because they give a much nicer ride. But with anything that's going to spend some time on the back wheel, coil forks would just be far to heavy.
  11. Whatever you do you NEED air forks. Otherwise dont bother. Fox Float 32 80mm travel. Or id opt for 80mm or 100mm Rockshox Reba's. Edit: sidehop's are a good call, Reba's are ment to be slightly sturdier for the price.
  12. You made me interested to try this. Power is nearly as good as a bb7 but not the same. Feel is much better (Hate the feel of a bb7). If your on a mod, id probably go for a 180mm disk, 203mm on a stock. The difference for me probably came from the fact my trail bike weighs 33lbs.
  13. Maybe I should rephrase what I said. I do love my SLX brakes. They are a little wooden, but the modulation is excellent. Yes the power is there but you would end up having to really crank down on them. For trials, yes worth a go on the front. I would forget about them on the rear. If you can afford them, the new icetech SLX and XT brakes are outstanding
  14. LOVE how this has got onto a drinking thread!! Turbo shandy sounds rank, worth a go for a laugh though! Cider absolutly kills me. And its one of the cheapest drinks too. Looks like freshers is about to get messy...
  15. to be honest there ok on my trail bike. Wouldnt say they would be great for trials. On all shimano brakes the pads are tiny...
  16. Really enjoyed that. Just feel your being let down by the filming/ quality of the film now.
  17. The speed! I shat myself! Must be an amazing feeling to fly like that, even if the bloke is a nutjob.
  18. It is bad what's happening over there. For those who wish to do some more research on the subject, look into the Athabasca Tar sands. Effectively what's going on is there is a large surface seep of oil from an oil well that is not covered by a cap rock. Although this brings it closer to the surface for abstraction, it also means this oil is dirty, very dirty due to containing other minerals (What Papa said). Because of its close proximity to the surface and therefore lower ambient temperature, the viscosity of the oil is very high (Not runny). This means that oil company's are having to inject high volumes of steam into oil wells to lower the viscosity and allow the oil to flow through an escape well. This is normally done in traditional wells around the globe where the oil lies too deep and because of the depth the pore space of the rock is reduced. In both cases the force acting is surface tension, holding the oil to the clasts (Rock grains). Although the technique is used else where in deep wells for secondary or tertiary recovery, it is almost always deemed financially non-viable to do so (which is one of the reasons why when people say there is no oil its just a load of bull. Its just because oil companys cant make a big enough profit to extract and refine it, they dont bother). The operation in Canada is massively damaging to the environment as some of the most stunning wilderness on the planet, not to mention the ecosystems that have developed around the tar sands (therefore making them fragile to small changes). And at the end of this who is to blame? Me, you and everyone Awesome messed up world that we live in. Sorry for this imput. Starting a geology degree soon, was good to get back into it from the summer off.
  19. Personally not a fan of the bars, but everything else is pure win!
