Spot on. If only the majority of what the British people think of other races/places wasnt based on what the Daily Mail says. EDIT: hmm yes guess my opinion before I went away was pretty poor of Kazakhstan, so I wasnt really in the position to rant on the way I did, apologies. On the subject though, I certainly wasnt expecting it to be the best/most hospitable place we went. My opinions were based on Borat and what the media had told me. Both totally wrong. Nicest people you will ever meet, ever. Same could probably have been said about Iraqi's before America and Britain f**ked with them for no reason....

Has Tf Become A More Harmonious Place Since Obm Has Stopped Posting?
tomturd replied to mat hudson's topic in Chit Chat
Yep Mark was/is the most active mod. (Apart from me? ) I do stuff behind the scenes though but guess I'm not really classed as a mod. Dannys off on holiday, Marks got no internet - lots of the time theres no mods, or only one online. Not good for a forum of this size. I'm on the case though, expect a couple more moderators about in the next week or so. And yes, I am laying down the iron fist of Tom again, just like the good old days (), while things get sorted. I've been letting things slip for months now, and since Danny and Mark have gone (so i'm spending a lot more time on here) its really starting to show. -
And of those 5000 teenagers, around 4990 don't seem to feel the need to try and prove something. The rest of us don't need to be reminded pretty much every 20 minutes that some girl has 'nice tits'. We know that, we have eyes too.

Fair enough post pictures of fit girls, but leave the derogatory, tastless comments in the playground please.

Hmm hope you're not suggesting what I think you are, have you ever been to Kazakhstan, or met anyone from Kazakhstan? I'm guessing not, because if you did you wouldnt say that. You'd realise the social mess that Britain is in, and that Kazakhstan is a place for us to be jealous of. I heard similar, if not better reports of Uzbekistan, of hospitality and kindness you just wouldn't get in Britain nowadays, not even from your neighbours, let alone from someone of a different colour skin to yourself. But they're terrorists after all, and should go back to where they came from... Armchair politics/opinions, gotta love em.

I locked it by mistake... not the first time. All I have to do is click on the little folder icon next to the topic and it gets locked without saying 'are you sure' or reloading the page or anything, so hit it by mistake sometimes. Its open now.

My 5p... Firstly, totally out of order to describe something as new, when its not. Even if it was only set up as a demo bike, that should have been stated. New means new.. Secondly, no matter what, even if you 'just didnt like it' and want to send it back they should give you a full refund. Not sure if your just asking for a bit of money back, or for a full refund though. Thats why the likes of heatsink/tarty/tesco's are thriving, good customer service. Maybe supercycles should take a leaf out of their book. Never been a fan of them, infact banned the lot of them off TF years ago. Dodgy dealings. Good luck with the dispute

There should be shops around your town that sell second hand books, surely? Reminds me though, nows the time to get my old uni books on ebay..

May I remind people... if they think a thread needs to be closed, report it. Even if your not sure whether it should be closed, report it anyway, whats the worst that can happen? Anyway, closed.

Yep, ebay. I got a FM transmitter with USB attachment thing off there for £4 delivered for the trip to mongolia. USB thing worked, but wouldnt charge my mp3 player, and the radio transmitter is shit. Worth a try though.. As for the rest of the topic -

Get the knoppix or ubuntu 'live CD'. (Download and burn) Then just put the CD in, restart, and itll load linux off the CD without making any changes to your har ddrive. If you like them, then you can install the one you like.

Very nice site, design wise. Have to agree with danny though, the flash isnt needed. IMO flash should only be used when theres no simpler alternative (eg 3d mobile phone demo's). Not just cos i'm an html snob, theres good reasons too.. using flash means search engines find it hard/impossible to spider (gather information about) your site, so dont expect to see it ranking too highly on google.. and its limits browser compatibility. Apart from that though, loving the overall look of it (just HTMLify it )

http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en Type in the address which is blocked by your network/school, translate from any language to english. As far as your network is concerned you're still looking at google. Same works on http://www.have.com - click translate. This probably works too (taken from spacemunkees thread in videos) http://www.guardster.com/subscription/proxy_free.php

Um, the only way DVD shrink will shrink them more, is if you burn them to a DVD first (or atleast convert the files to DVD compaible ones) and then shrink those... a long winded process, and you'll lose video quality in the process. If your DVD player plays divx files, it'll most likely say on the front.

Sounds about right. When I was burning Lost episodes, I could get 4 episodes per DVD. On my computer they were just under 400mb each. Your only alternative is to connect your computer to your TV, and watch them that way. Or to buy a Divx/Mpeg DVD Player - you can just dump all the TV epidoes onto a DVD-R (without convesion) and watch them using one of them.
-
The simple answer.... If you have Nero 7 (if not, download it..) Open up nero smart start. Select DVD from the drop down menu at the top. Go to the photo/video icon and select 'Make your own DVD video'. This will open up nero vision (as mentioned earlier in the thread). Add your videos. Click next a few times, follow the steps. It'll recode the video files into DVD format, and burn it for you. Sorted.

Yep that way works, but only when the computer with the internet attached to it is turned on. Look at the back of your broadband modem, there might be a spare ethernet port. In that case you just need a spare ethernet/network card (same thing) for your new computer, and a network cable between the 2. That way it should work even with only your computer turned on.

To use firefox you just need to go into tools > options > general > connection settings > auto detect proxy settings for this connection. No reason firefox shouldnt work. As for other stuff, I've no idea how you'd go about turning the university firewall off, its just not possible. So thats that out of the question.. Only other way is to get an HTTP tunneler (HTTPtunnel) but it costs money.. $5 a month or something.
