  1. This is a picture of my boys meeting Martyn Ashton. I tell you what, he was chuffed to bits and Martyn Ashton is a really nice guy. Matt
  2. Yeah surfing is great, do it. If your not fit already you soon will be. I used to Surf Llangenith beach in Gower (South Wales) near Swansea, that is a serious paddle out at low tide, but when I recovered from f**king my shoulder up (Broken dislocated), I went surfing and ended up paddling in circles. I looked stupid as f**k. I sortof gave up then and have only been maybe 20 times in the last 10 yrs, all the beaches in Gower are so rammed now it has taken the fun out of it, with people dropping in on each other all over the place. People that think they own the wave. Deffinately hire a board or buy second hand though because it isn't for everyone, usually you get full on hooked or don't like it at all. I don't know how much surf you get actually in Plymouth but have been to many beaches in Cornwall and Devon about 15yrs ago and when it's working the surf is fab. I bet the beaches down there are even more rammed than the Gower beaches though esp in Summer. Good advice from Jaffackes about the wetsuit, if you don't get one that fits really well it makes it really hard. Like Simpson said sometimes the best fun you have on a board is in little waves on a long board, and it's miles easier. Oh and don't go surfing in the south west of France, because when you come back from dry hair paddle outs and one or two strokes to catch the wave you'll be really pissed off you live in Britain. Matt
  3. As many people have said get a bike second hand. You can pick up real nice ones on e-bay for next to FA, mainly because people have gone out and done exactly what you are considering doing. Spending a fortune on something you don't know if they are going to like doing/be any good at/have the dedication/patience/time to do/enjoy and then found that they don't like it/aren't any good at/don't have the dedication/don't have the patience/don't have the time to do/don't enjoy it. This is about to time out and I recon They will only get £150 tops Brisa This is about to time out DMR This has 2 days left Planet X This frame is a good start as long as it goes for about £80 Pashley This is worth watching Brisa You get the idea. You can buy some thing for maybe £200 thrash the f**k out of it and get an idea of what you like and don't like in a bike. In the meantime you can start building up a present for yerself. another advantage of doing it this way is by riding a bit of an old school dog, you will find it all so much easier/nicer when you Finnish building up your bike. Also the guy that said this is making sense as like you said if you posted about every component, by the time the bike was built, you would be to old to ride it. Or this: Toxsin Matt
  4. I think they are refering to the fact they are a little bit narrower than other trials specific bars. Ultimately you can put them on whatever you want, it's all about how they feel to you. I'ts only about 2" average. I think they are really nice bars meself esp as they are fairly cheap. Buying bars is always a pain in the erse because you don't know if your gonna like them until they are on. At the minute I am looking at some new bars too, but have been putting it off for ages for just this reason. It took me ages to get some new forks because I am paraniod about upsetting the feel of my bike, but I went for it in the end and I am really glad I did. Big improvement. Matt
  5. You bind the edges with superglue. By the way, do not breath in the dust it is supposedly the new asbestos. Matt
  6. Believe it or not my youngest kid, for having the balls to try anything (he hasn't got the fear factor yet even after quite a few nasty spills). He's seven by the way. Matt
  7. An antitron is some kind of menacing mechanism that doesn't like ants so it wanders the earth endlessly looking for ants to squash by doing 180 after 180 on top of them until their poor crushed little bodies litter the tarmac. Matt
  8. It's the they took our jobs thing that got Hitler popular you know. I can see why British people of genuinely British (not just f**king English you ignorant f**ks) decent get pissed off with eastern Europeans and such like moving to Britain and getting income support and such like. The ancestors of these British people had to fight and work hard for countless generations to create a society that provided any kind of social support. I'm sure they did it for their descendants to benefit from not so that people could just move here and then claim these benefits purely because they are "Europeans". This article really is f**king ridiculous, I can't believe that anyone could be so stupid as to suggest this crap let alone print it. Racism sucks in all its many forms, this country is becoming more and more "racist" the current economic climate is a recipe for disaster. "They took our jobs" is bollox, youre perfectly entitled to work anywhere in Europe, if it pisses you off that much go and "Take their jobs" Having said that I go to many different countries to work, end up missing my kids for sometimes months at a time and that sucks, so it's not for everyone, but it pays the bills as their is f**k all round here and in this work briefly meet people of many different cultures and very few of them are as ignorant and racist as your average "Johnny British". Matt
  9. Are ashton 26" forks any good? Any ideas what they weigh? Matt
  10. I wholeheartedly agree. On the other hand I don't like the way people go on about getting run over by a bus shite, I have done just that, lived and it made life very hard for a long time. I don't get what the fuss is either, do people who whine about drugs being moved up and down classes intend getting caught? If not then why care. Drugs like ecstasy will never be made legal, you can count on that. So they are never going to be "controlled" and "safe". I agree the actual MDMA isn't going to kill you and that the smacky shite and other crap it gets cut with is more likely to mess you up so "controlled" and "safe ecstasy" would be better but being realistic drug users are in the minority compared to non drug users and so the votes count. What you are being told in this message from the government is the old chestnut "do the crime, do the time" . If you get caught. MAtt
  11. I'm gald you posted this because I was just thinking about the same thing as I am about to build a new back wheel up. Matt
  12. Front disc back mag is way out ahead. Other is ahead of V front and back. Would anyone care to post what "other" combinations they use? Apart from those that have already obviously. Matt
  13. I hate managers like that. I worked in a bike insurance replacement factory once and the wanker would be in his office tapping his watch through the window if you were even a minute late and then you would get 15mins pay taken off you. I was riding/walking (depending on state of weather) 6 miles to get there for 7:00am. I didn't stay there long. I'll swore I would never work for wankers like that again, and I haven't. You should have just turned up late and winged it. Now that it has all occurred I would actually put in a complaint with the main HR, especially about the bit with handing in your notice, that guy sounds like he needs to go on the dole for a while. You can probably make £300 a month by just asking randoms in the street for spare change on your way home from the garage on a Monday evening. Matt
  14.  That was a fab competition, you would not believe how much history of trials I know now after looking for oddball trials bikes on the internet. Nice one TRIALS PIMP. Matt
