  1. You can get sick on any furniture, you don't have to buy new stuff!
  2. AKA - far too much! I've been out in a westfield owned by a mad welshman and can safely say the sensation of speed is akin to a motorbike. It's unreal.
  3. That just looks mean tarty! Bet its a absolute handful on any kind of greasy or damp roads! But it must be a well of a thrill to drive!
  4. Did 76k on the Roadie today with a hench mate who kept accidentally dropping me ha! Biggest road ride so far and all on dartmoor with proper hills and fairly serious winds. I felt good but he went on to do another 25k the mentalist. Gonna keep clocking miles on the Roadie and the MTB this week. recovery days with a dozen or so miles and bigger 30+ miles every other day.
  5. There was a 2.8 quattro up for sale nearby for 1000 recently but its vanished.
  6. I'm with you jardo. The perceived idea of how something of greater value can 'cost less' the something of lesser value is laughable. I want lower running costs from my car, but the cost of purchasing a vastly more economical car would take 1.5 times my annual mileage before I made a saving. So I won't buy one. That's the reason I'm going to look at a 325 touring as its repair costs are tiny compared to a older diesel with potential expensive issues. and mpg isn't much worse then mine as my driving needs are changing soon.
  7. A & C. You do geotechnical surveying (for a company other than yeandle) right?
  8. Civil engineering. Design office. Not exciting day to say but extremely rewarding going on my work experience!
  9. Finished at my current place after 2.5yrs and hideous hours spent doing tedious stressful and high pressure ( and very occasionally rewarding) work. Off until after the bank holiday when I start with my new company!! Excited!
  10. I thought the 100mph /double the limit was a court summons not instant ban? But anyway that capri looks an awesome base vehicle! Good luck with transformation!
  11. Got royally f**ked over at work today. Basically new job offer (nice to be headhunted) nearly 2 months ago, checked my contract and I have 3 months notice. The boss man and the bigger boss who owns our bigger sister company said 'Finish this new project early and you can leave early'. Now this project had a 16week programme, so by working like a man possessed and working smart so I am faster then everyone else in the software, I've cut nearly 5 weeks from programme. This has involved lots of really long days and sacrifices socially. All whilst managing 2 other members of staff and 4 more jobs. Today I had to give up 8 hours to show a new guy how to use the programme and will continue to bleed hours to this. I also got told by my boss that I would have to pick up someone else crap job because they are f**king it up. Then as he left 3hours before me he had the bare faced cheek to tell me that 'I would help but I don't want to be doing this at 6pm and I don't have access as all the licences are in use during the day.' I'm absolutely livid. I'm breaking my balls so they're not left holding the unfinished job, trying to free up some time so I can have my first day off of the year and also trying to placate my new employer about how long this is taking. Stressed up to the eyeballs. Done.
  12. I've seen chains in use. It was a workhorse with no plates and hardly a panel that was straight, so purely an of road tool. Anyway, if I could justify cost and storage of a spare set of wheels with winter tyres I would, as has been mentioned its not just snow/ice they work better on. They clear water better and provide more grip on cold tarmac, I've driven a car fitted with the and was extremely impressed. But I'm yet to get stuck on my tyres in mid-wearlife, mainly because I think about journeys to avoid troublespots or drive in a manner which befits the situation. I also have a modicum of common sense which people seem to leave at home and think either 2mph or 90mph are safe speeds on the A roads.
  13. I've a powered hub and it seems ok running wireless keyboard/mouse combo, sd reader, Ipod and phone charger? (its branded after my dads employer qinetiq but I'll see if it has another brand mark) and my external HDD is powered and only connected for back ups every week or two and through main line usb with almost everything else disconnected
  14. Went to a rally driving experience on Sunday. never had so much fun behind the wheel! Hopefully action shots in a few weeks. I'd recommend it to anyone! Full throttle on a muddy gravel forest stage in a 4wd scoop and evo was intense. Evo was way easier to drive as well.
  15. No social life for over 2 months will suck. most of us have been there, thrashing hours out and getting the 'reward' of working hard. Personally I'd rather reduce my outgoing than work more. I'm doing ~54hr weeks Monday to Friday and it is just shit. throw in 7+ hrs commuting over the week and it all goes pear shaped. I'm tired all week and tired on Monday from making the most of the weekend lol Be careful what you wish for. jardo has in his usual blunt manner made a relevant point. Ignoring his usual behaviour of saying one thing then spanking money like there's no tomorrow instead :-P (I might just be jealous?) then he's right. be realistic what you can afford once the job is over/before the next one. people don't walk into employment these days.

Simps +1 It needed to be addressed, as it was just getting stupid. Although the famous/infamous Senna quote springs to mind. It almost seemed deliberate. which is absolutely ludicrous, but someone who is prepared to sacrifice his own and others safety for no discernible gain deserves the rulebook to be thrown at them. Remember the media and critics behaviour when Hamilton was hitting Massa every other weekend? But woop for Button getting back to his best! A pleasure to watch his incredible consistency and outright pace!
  17. The new rules about mods being banned will affect bikes, I think its the same law that will mean all engines are sealed and cannot be worked in at home at all. so normal maintenance will need to be done at the dealer/lbs which is bullshit
  18. costs of r&d would go through the roof if everything needed stamping up!
  19. Noticed Dan and Sam being very quick to take affront to jardo recently, just as he was winding his neck in a bit and improving his posting etiquette. Mind you I felt the same way for a while and often did respond. I've just learnt to interpret someone with a high level of automotive knowledge (he does know a lot, not as much as HE thinks he does, but way more then most) and a slightly arrogant and blunt manner. that's cool in person when facial expressions and body language diffuse the combative nature of the words. However like moths to the flame the baiting and retaliation continue. Bored now. can't we all get along? rant over I also have a high co2 error light verified on emissions test and the car is underpowered (1.6 02 focus). both lambdas replaced in last 10,000miles and no exhaust holes/cracks. so Cat or air sensors making it run lean?
  20. Asking prices are still high as people want to keep as much residual value in that model, and if they do still sell at that price (as they clearly do) then you'd be mad to sell it for less then you could've. They probably paid semi serious money and don't want it to move on without it giving some of it back? Dunno my two cents...
  21. Support in tension is usual so A to D diagonal brace. Can also be done B to C which is usually how farm gates are done. if you can get the new brace inside the outer frame it will be in compression which is where timber is best (compression along grain) and not solely on the screw/connection pieces

The pass was inevitable though, he could have left that attempt and done it elsewhere comfortably surely? Lewis probably assumed as he was on the track edge that Maldonardo had done just that. Ah well, I'm just annoyed fernando is now a race win ahead!
