Gotcha, makes more sense! I've become pretty good at knowing my core and leg limits through recovering a slightly torn adductor muscle. I'll give it a whirl.

Cheers, completely the wrong thread I've just realised. The explosion was a very well articulated point we all had on our mind. Also, weight of the box? I guess you just mean something more stable to put the leg on?

JD I'd wondered how long you'd last out the aggressive non-constructive ranting/argument. I've learnt loads listening to and discussing strength training with my mate who has 11 years of county level rugby, 8years of heavy weight training, 3 running a gym where an ex-european level weightlifter (deadlift I seem to recall) trained. BUT half of it is redundant, my body reacts entirely different, being a entirely different build, metabolism, sport interest, training regime and lastly gym access. Anywho, working on cv stuff lots atm, loading core workouts between runs. atm I'm doing the rockclimbers, loads of lateral leg lifts, and holds I got from physio for my groin strain a while back, crunches. any key things missing? Or any resources recommended? Also would like to get working on legs but without gym access what would people recommend?
  4. I've a pair of nikes with rubber gaskets which hold water out for about twenty min? Also 'acquired' some 'Aqua Sphere' ones which are menat to be amazing but don't quite fit my eye socket, seem to touch my bushy brow and that ruins the seal. Anyway, I'd keep an 'oldish' pair for swimming in just incase as JT! said you cause them to wear out faster or in worst case, develop an eye infection form shit water and have to bin the lenses
  5. Goggles with contacts work fine, I snorkel/swim in my monthly lenses. soak the inside of the goggles in fresh water first, using the swimming poo (deliberate) water can play havoc with eye comfort
  6. be careful you don't lose the stabalising muscles in your wrists/hands though, I used the bars for a while, and although it helped the chest by allowing a full lowering position I found I prefered changing my hand positions (fingers inward/outward, flat/on finger tips) around on the floor, (phsycologically) helped loads with hand/forearm strength lol But overall I love mine, definitely more chest oreintated then on palms, use them when going for the last few sets!
  7. I'm not so sure having seen todays game...
  8. Got a full time job.... I've also downed a triple tequila with no lime or other beverage to quench the taste for a measly pint, which I chundered much later. although my mate snorting 42cm of crushed extra strong mint was hilarious
  9. Most successful one when we did this had a reasonable design but meticulous care in its construction. making everything identical so there's no weak link is crucial. Three rolled tubes with thin strips wrapped around at mid, quarters and ends seemed popular and effective. although a circular cross section is far from perfect, any out of plane shape or load will lead to bucking as one part of the face yields. You'd want the wider face of the 'triangle' cross section on the compression face. As for the base, a few strips glued together is fine, its there to hold the tensions and provided you can secure it to both stanchions the paper is pretty good in tension. The paper mache joints idea is quite good and i would recommend a trial. but probably costly in paper? its all about surface area and reinforcing the compression side to avoid it causing bucking in the circular sections. adding small inserts inside the tubes would be a way round this. folded flats inserted vertically inside to protect the venerable compression face. Last but not least the twin uprights, starting spread out, meeting at the top the spreading back to mid span. Has to be symmetrical and does put a not of compression on the cross spar. this will have to be the stiffness part otherwise it will simply fold into the middle.
  10. I'm looking to gain strength and ideally some mass without taking a hit on my CV (which isn't a lot atm, maybe two rides a week, (6-7miles, 15+miles on XC bike and maybe 8miles in total running)) Should I just be loading up and working out or should I do it in stages of loading and then leaning out a bit then loading again? Most of my resistance/strength training is bodyweight stuff, haven't got the money for gym but do have a bench and a few weights. I'm usually in the habit of core every other day (recovering aductor muscle strain) and press-ups, inclined press-ups on the in between days. I reckon I could get time on the weights bench/freeweights time maybe 2-3 times a week?

I doubt they had a choice if sky's power isn't already obvious. I also think Vettel is a complete package as a driver (much as I dislike the chaps domination of the sport), his progression through back markers is usually astonishing, however thats usually accompanied by a closing mclaren being held up by all manner of poor decsions and lack of awareness from the rest of the field. Some of the moves/lines by the tora rosso (surprise surprise), suabers and the squabbling mercedes this season have had me on my feet!
  13. I can't help but 'bop' to this, mate put it on in my car yesterday on the way up to a club social, was a proper laugh and such a feel good track!
  14. Boumsong - out of hours doctor, find the number for your local one. Ring it and they'll ring back and diagnose (if they can) from symptons being described. Typically with a rash/physical injury they'll give you an appointment, usually 'as soon as you can get here if you like'. This can be at almost any time of day all you have to do is get there (in Plymouth, this is at the hospital anyway). head straight in, get checked out, problem on the way to being resolved. And aboslutely no waiting around! After 22 years of never having an allergic reaction to anything I had a massive one which caused redness, itching and swelling on my back, arms, legs, groin, abdomen and chest. It started about 3 in the afternoon and by 9pm was unbearable. Rang up, drove in, they gave me some weird antihistamine steriod cream, was all gone withing 24hrs.

Keeping Webber and Massa behind whilst carry a useless KERS system was impressive! This season (and previously) his consistency and tactical prowess mark Jenson out from the others. I'm not a fan of Vettel, don't get me wrong he is a (almost ) faultless and phenomenally quick driver in an incredible car and team, I'm just not really that keen on a 'lights to flag' win with no drama's or sniffs of action. I'd be saying the same for Hamilton, Jenson, Webber or Alonso (who's attitude I hate). A race where the leader only gets gratuitous screen time and then shown crossing the line detracts from the race IMO. But then for the drivers they are probably the most rewarding, the races where they've clearly outclassed the rest of the field by a comfortable margin. I'm rambling now so I'll stop
  16. Isn't it due to steel not 'work hardening' as much as Ti? That line is monster, you have had it without the snapped BB. Brilliant riding and imagination. Good luck with your next attempt, I want to see it!!

I think there's a lack of flexibility in the logo. Again just laymans opinion but I feel it doesn't really lend itself to distortion or easily displayed in 3D. With only a small amount of creasing or partially covering up of clothing logo's meant it was unrecognisable. Whilst at the MTB test event, the flags and bannering just looked like disjointed blocks of colour, not remotely memorable or eye-catching, which I think is a base requirement for an 'identity'. I'd like it to be something which people immediately and (for fear of retribution I won't say subliminaly') instinctively associate with the most prestigious sporting event to ever grace the UK. Its been rolled out now so we have to accept it, I don't like it personally, I've seen more impressive 'identities' developed over the years by small brands and organisations. Obviously thats much easier on a small scale. The bureaucracy ruined it as uaual I also don't like the fact its difficult for kids to copy in artwork and doodles, it loses some appeal purely for that.
  18. Like me, although I tried boarding and really enjoyed it. Even on the ice, grass and bristles of the beginner slope of the Nevis Range, and no instruction, just trial and error (a lot of error). Want to get toe turns (or at least stop stacking them) next year Think I might try going on the other slopes to actually ride snow next time. Although I found button lifts impossible on a board, so hiked it, was pretty sweaty despite the wind and exposure!
  19. I'll be coming up in late Feb early march again, hoping for some decent snow like 2010, that was class! Went end of feb this year, much more ice and crappy slush, loved the deep powdery stuff!
  20. You need a good slap. Edit: Rant deleted, just typing it out was enough, now, not the time or place. R.I.P. Marco, thoughts with those he's left behind.

    Blisters

Surgical spirit again, or ghetto it with vinegar or Iodine to clean and harden the skin. And tape (micro-pore or strips of duck-tape as electrical tape never seems sticky enough. Those webbed plasters for toes/heels also work relatively well, especuially if you ensure your hands are very clean (spirits on washed hands then left to dry, then rub sugar on the skin, this absorbs the oils and helps stuff stick) I recently split the web between my thumb and forefinger and went riding the next day doing it this way, sure it hurt but no pain, no gain. Also if you have a loose flap of skin, remove it when you can, that'll help it heal. Mine stayed in place overnight then was all sticky in the morning, removed it with razor blade and it had dried and healed more by lunchtime then it did overnight.

I was 300 miles from home, camping all weekend without internet, radio or TV and knew about it on saturday of the weekend the Sky interference was announced , by a chance encounter with a newspaper in a shop and then when I watched the recorded live race, they mentioned it multiple times. Vettel is unbelievable, I also think that Red Bull is unbelievable. Still doesn't make me like him, When a sport is dominated so forcefully by an individual or team it becomes a 'best of the losers' race and thats no fun, same as last years MotoGP. Button's championship season wasn't like this, after the season start he Outclassed everyone with driving skill not just a vastly superior car.
  23. Farted massively in a lift and let a 5yr old kid who was squashed in next to me take the blame. It was my own brand and I nearly vommed it was that vile. Always piss on my neighbours fence when coming home drunk so I don't wake anyone at home/miss the bowl
  24. think its instant I set one up and that day won a ebay auction and paid that day
  25. ask for photo's of it being packaged, before during and after, its hard to do if you haven't got the bike or haven't taken any steps to post it But agree that PayPal is the safest bet by far! Having said that I bank transferred £750 to a Pinkbike user after only a short period of exchanges, did speak to the lads dad by accident when I rang the house phone number so got the story corroberated kinda. That was the best bargain I've ever done if I'm honest! guess it depends how much trust and evidence you need
