  1. Just finished building this to get me back into trials. Mixture of old and new bits. Frame is a proto Atomz Quark Echo Pure Forks Tensile Cranks Rear Chris King Discgotech Front sun dirty flea on eq29 Minions all round, dual ply rear single front Front hope mono trial team Rear hs33 with TNN LGM's (water bleed) Wellgo MG1's Weight 10.48kg (on park tool scales) Rides real good on static stuff, taking a bit of learing on the rolling moves since my last 3 bikes were mods. Real light considering there wasn't any attempt to save weight and plenty of grams could be shaved off in the future.
  2. Thats tasty, love how simple the Fans looks. Think a stock one might be on the cards soon for me.
  3. A mate of mine ran them on a crown mounted stem on his downhill bike and they all busted off in spectecular fashion. I wouldn't use them anywhere I thats responsable for keeping me on the bike.
  4. Yea there is some not bad stuff down that direction, also very close to custom house square. Used to be a bit up around the University but there has been a lot of redevelopment up that way of late and I haven't been out in a while. I will take a run about this weekend for a reccy and get some pics of whats there to ride.
  5. Yea I'll come check it out. Posters have been plastered all round work (CRC). Will be good to meet up.
  6. Nukeproof hubs use the same pawl design only set into the hub shell and the freehub body is the ratchet ring. I9 stuff looks interesting.
  7. I can show you guys round. Will have my new bike by then and try and get a few other guys together. Pm me if you need any info.
  8. Shusssshhhh they're special...
  9. Nice pics, check Ali out! Nice bike Danny
  10. I got it the last time I came back to trials after a break, fingers had just got all feminine like. I started climbing and bouldering, makes a huge difference
  11. Another vote for the Richey WCS grips. I used to swear by the soft compound Renthal full diamond grips. Could use them with or without gloves no problem they just didn't last long. Bought up as many pairs as I could from Bikedock before they stopped stocking them. Does anyone know if anyone stocks these grips in soft compound? Think they are marketed as MTB and ATV grips. Can find mediums on ebay but thats it.
  12. Most sealed bearings have less grease in them from factory than a cup and cone hub for example. I always pick my seals on sealed bearings and pack them with a decent grease. Not so much a problem on a trials bike where muddy water isn't everywhere but all helps to keep things smooth for longer. Yea Mark, the Trialtech's are next on my list. They seem to be getting real good reviews!
  13. Send it back to wherever you bought it from for inspection. If its not up to the job then you will be entitled to a refund or replacment.
  14. Forks snap its a fact, I was surprised when I snapped orange trials forks a good years back. I snapped a new set of lite guys 3 weeks later. I resorted to using heavy steel forks such as tuf guys and pashleys which lasted me well. Downside as Matt has said is strength to weight, I needed a lighter fork so went with the echo pures/urbans etc and just changed them regular enough. The thick welded alloy steerer deng forks are strong but as with any bike product they have a life expectancy before fatigue kills them. As far as the hub thing goes, trials seems to be the only discipline in cycling that don't seem to care about basic bike maintainance.
  15. He's young, he can only get bigger and better!
  16. Real precise rider! One to watch out for!
  17. Very impressive for a first ride! Love your mod vids, hope the stock one will be out soon!
  18. Cheers man, I got sorted. My frame (atomz quark) uses a 12mm hole as the dropout (not vertical or horizontal) It turns out that Ducati the motorbike company uses the same thread pitch as a fun bolt it just doesn't reduce to 10mm like the fun bolt does in the dropouts. Perfect for me. Thanks for the help and sorry for going off topic.
  19. You have pressed the lever allowing the pads to close together, you should be able to gently push them apart with something that won't damage your pads. If your really careful a screwdriver will do the job but try not and damage the pad material.
  20. Hi Birre Have you been able to get Ti bolts in the same fitment as Chris King fun bolts? I am in need of new bolts and wouldn't mind spending a bit more for some pimptanium! Any information you can give me on how you ordered them and what product your ordered would be fantastic!
  21. That boy that buys all the beige cars in the country....
  22. It probably stems from the RS7's being the only decent set of trials specific cranks you could get until Deng and his many brands came about a few years ago. They still take some beating today. I have 2 sets that I have aquired over the years which could still be used no problem, they're just a bit too scruffy for my liking so they definately do last! On a side note, if your trialtechs are isis shoot me a PM if your looking rid of them very soon. Need a set of stand in cranks asap.
  23. As long as they are the right bearing code (size) then they will do the very best! One thing I always do with my bearings (with great results) is very carefully pick the rubber seal out (small pick or tip of a utility knife) and pack the bearing with a good quality bike grease then replace the rubber seal. This will prolong the life of the bearings ten fold. Especially if you ride off road a lot or are fond of using a powerhose!
  24. Sooooo precise, Seriously becoming one of my favourite riders to watch where as a lot of the top competition boys I find very hard to watch a full vid! Keep them coming Kenny!
