  1. Crash update. The painkillers I have been given mess me up so I have not taken them for 2 days, I'm trying to continue life as normal so went to work today and now my back has started to properly hurt so I have admitted defeat and taken the painkillers again. The legal advisor's and rehabilitation company that are dealing with my claim are f**king retarded and cannot even arrange the simple thing of supplying me with the physio they have promised. I have to go to an 'approved' physio and the only one in Salisbury is closed for a week, the next nearest one is 20 miles away and I funnily enough don't have a car to get there and do not want the added hassle. I don't live in outer Mongolia so there are physio's all over the place, I don't get why they won't just book me in with someone else. So fed up right now.
  2. I'm looking into 'upgrading' from a old school Nokia C1 to one of these smart phone jobbies as well so it is interesting to read your thoughts on making the change. It's amusing because I'm quite techie and work in IT but still have a trusty old style mobile The Galaxy Ace 2 was actually one of the phones I'm looking at and people seem to rave about it for the price. I'm not sure how useful this will be but Samsung have confirmed that the Ace 2 is one of the handsets that will be upgraded to the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS as well as a newer version of the Samsung navigation system so that might help with some of the useless to text and navigation issues you mention? Unlike you I'm flat out refusing to go contract. There is no way I am paying out £20+ a month to get a 'free' handset and be locked into a contract for 24 months when I can get a Giffgaff SIM for £10 a month and end up with more minutes etc... included. It is annoying that I will get raped for the initial purchase of the phone (The Ace 2 is currently about £170) but when you calculate the cost over 24 months it works out cheaper to get the SIM free phone and a Giffgaff SIM!
  3. I'm not rushing into anything. I had a nice car so I'm not replacing it with any old crap. I can survive without a car for a while and I wouldn't mind getting more of an idea what is happening with my insurance payout before jumping in and spending out of savings! I'm also a bit freaked out by the thought of driving again but I'm sure I will get over that quick enough. I will be keeping an eye on ebay motors and autotrader but if anyone spots anything else let me know, I am sticking with a Leon Cupra or Cupra R if one comes up at a reasonable price I had a trip up A&E today because my right arm has gone tingly and numb over the last couple of days. They checked me over and did a neck x-ray and concluded it's just standard whip lash and to get physio. Through my insurance policies legal cover I have already been offered physio sessions anyway which I am going to start arranging on Monday.
  4. I removed the connects2 and the 'stowage box' that replaces the CD Changer. Due to the front end being crushed in it was awkward removing the unit so I managed to rip a few wires out of place so will need to figure out which bit they all need to be recrimped/soldered to. If I end up not needing it in the next car they are yours You will even find dealers with tidy Cupra's for under £3k. Finding a Cupra R for under £3k might even be possible if you buy privately. I paid £2500 for mine just under 1 year ago and everything similar (Facelift, approx 100k miles, full leather etc...) I have seen so far is advertised at £3500-£4000 so when the insurers start asking how much I want I'm going to have to be forceful and provide them links to all these 'overpriced' adverts and pray they are not twats about giving me my money
  5. That Cupra R is basically EXACTLY what I am looking for to replace my Cupra. Seriously nice cars and as you can see from my recent misfortune they are very well built! For that money you will easily get a nice Cupra with 60-80k miles, full leather, electric everything. The problem I have right now is I have to replace a very tidy Cupra but there there seems to be lots of overpriced shit being advertised right now. I'm going to be patient and hope a worthy replacement turns up.
  6. Talking of bruising, my right shoulder and the left side of my chest are pretty sore this morning
  7. Spent all of today sorting out all the bullshit that I now know comes with an insurance claim. Doctors have given me a load of drugs, I have called the insurance company several times, spoke to a legal firm dealing on behalf of the insurance company and also had to call both Wiltshire and Hampshire police. The guy driving the mini bus has been charged and given a fixed penalty for driving without care. Although it was Wiltshire police who attended the accident it turns out they had to take the guy to Andover police station in Hampshire because where the accident happened was just inside the Hampshire border. I also went to the police compound to remove some stuff from my vehicle before it gets taken away. Anyway I'm going to have a nice hot bath now, here are some photos in daylight:
  8. f**king painful and stiff. It's all logged with my insurers, going to doctors now then going to car later to get a few things out.
  9. UPDATE. The police just rang and have found out that although his paperwork/licence was out of date he is still legally allowed to drive so to just claim using his insurance details. Wish me luck! LCR Next? I do have 7 years protected no claims so hopefully my insurance doesn't go up too much. Annoyingly in the last week I have spent out on a fresh MOT, new front tyres and had just put £50 of V-Power in the tank
  10. Further information and photos as promised... I was on the way to the woods to do some digging at our trails, national speed limit road, cruising at around 60mph when I saw something come out from the right across the road in front of me. Realised it was a mini bus so hit the brakes hard, I think I started to turn to try and avoid it as well but basically just accepted I was going to hit it. Airbags went off, I spun 180 and ended up facing back the way I had come from and the mini bus got spun 90 and finished facing the opposite way to me. For some strange reason I casually turned off the ignition, put the hand brake and hazard lights on before forcing the door open to get out. The mini bus was coming out of a work site and going straight across the road into another part of the site in a different field where they are installing a large solar panel system. According to the 2 witnesses that stopped they heard a load of shouting in foreign and a few people ran away from the mini bus back into the field. Everyone in the mini bus was apparently OK. It turned out it was a load of Portuguese workers in a Portuguese hire vehicle that were just about to leave work to go back to their accommodation, the guy that was driving had a licence that ran out in 2005 so he got arrested.
  11. Leon is a write off So lucky to walk out of that. More info and pictures later.
  12. Like I said in my previous post Glucosamine and Omega 3 made a huge difference. For example when walking up and down the stairs my knees used to frequently click really loudly, that rarely happens now. Maybe I should stop taking them for a few weeks to see if I get clicky joints again...
  13. I have been taking Glucosamine and Omega 3 for a couple of years now. My joints used to click loads but after 1-2 months of taking them I noticed an improvement so I continued. I just put the tablets on my desk where I charge my phone every night so have got into the habit of taking them every morning when I get up. I have heard that Chondroitin is good as well but it seems to be quite expensive and I already take 2 supplements anyway so decided not to look into it any further! I take the following: http://www.healthspan.co.uk/glucosamine-supplements/glucosamine-optiflex-hcl-1000mg/productdetail-p1545864-c142.aspx http://www.healthspan.co.uk/omega-3/omega-3-1000mg/productdetail-p354-c151.aspx
  14. The front tyres on my car were very low and one had worn on the inside edge (so bad it was illegal *cough*) so I got some new ones fitted today. The tracking was also out so I got that sorted as well. The car drives so much better now! The worn tyres were Kumho's and the new tyres are Falken ZE914's. Quieter, smoother, car now corners nicer, bumps in the road don't feel so harsh, really happy!
  15. I think we need a car sub forum
  16. And it's not free, you have to swap parts and use up time and cleaning products being a car cleaning bitch. When are you setting up your very own Eastern European style car wash? I think you would be good at it.
  17. The main article was in the magazine and I can't find it but they put some bonus stuff on their website. http://dirt.mpora.com/news/dirt-magazine-26v29-bonus-feature.html Very recent write up comparing all the wheel sizes back to back on pinkbike. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/26-vs-275-vs-29-Wheels.html Both articles are a million times better than that MBUK rubbish.
  18. Those videos contain so much bullshit it's unbelievable. This has really gone off topic now, maybe we should start a specific thread for the never ending wheel size debate? For the record, the 29er kept up with the DH rig because it was being ridden by a completely different rider who took a more direct line, after watching those videos I have even less respect for MBUK than I already did, at least Dirt did back to back timed runs of 26vs29 and wrote a fairly balanced article.
  19. Pretty crazy! Not sure what was going through his mind! "um er... shit I just triggered a massive avalanche, I know, I will pop a huge back flip and it will look super sick, hopefully I don't get swept away"
  20. I have not used the Specialized tyres but have heard lots of good things about them and the tread pattern does look great, apparently they are made in the same factory as Maxxis.
  21. What an amazing day at JKM! Had a quick ride in Prawn's beast when he warmed it up before his run. It's an absolute monster, accelerates like a freight train, stops just as quick and goes wherever Prawn points the wheels (it was dry today though ). He has worked so hard to get the car back on the road and he was rewarded with some very impressive figures, anyway I will leave him to update everyone with the pictures and videos... I had not planned to run my car but after watching everyone else I caved in and booked on because I wanted to check the car was healthy and not lost too many ponies since leaving the factory. It made 183.8bhp I wish I had given the wheels a quick clean after the drive down there haha!
