I'm a 5 minute walk from the university and realistically would only use it occasionally to go home/tesco. I can apply for a parking permit behind my house.. although not the safest place to leave a car you care about. I'm not sure it's a viable idea, as it would be very expensive to run/ maintain. I guess I'll have to get my fix when I go home, or get in a local taxi- who's driving reminds me of the video for By The Way- the Foo Fighters.

It's 2014. What are the best damn disk brakes?

No definitive answer is going to come from a thread based on opinion, listen to people that have tried both and have most experience with them. Thread over? -
Not strictly car thread, but thought you might sympathise. I've been at uni a month or so now, and the thing I miss most is my car?! I want the freedom and ability to go for a blast, has anyone run a car at uni and can tell me if it's a good idea or not?

They are called MLG videos- the ones where people get 'ReKt M9' etc

I'll let you know how it goes, we have just found a very angry letter selotaped to our back gate. 'When are you lot going to learn to shut the F*CK up? We do NOT appreciate shouting and swearing in the street and in your poxy garden 'til 5am from 2am. Your landlord has been informed AGAIN. It is NOT on. Have a bit of sense + respect. FAMILIES live around here and some of us need sleep as we work for a living. So please shut the f*ck up at that time in the morning.' We are going to talk to them today, and expecting a thorough bollocking. I don't see why they are writing letters at 5am rather than coming and knocking on the door and telling us to be quiet.

Feel for you Ali, we are in the same situation. Although with more repercussions I fear.. Just gotten a call from my landlord saying next door rang her 7 times last night and then called the police, because some of my housemates brought back half of Swansea to our house last night at 3am and they didn't leave till 7am. Loads of our stuff has gone, nothing expensive just convenience things like oven gloves, dishcloths etc. We are now clearing everything up, and wondering what to say to the police/landlord.. any ideas?!

HUMAN ENERGY COMPETITION

As does this one. -
I'd say 60% of turds I've done at uni have been ghosts, it's the little things..

In before S3 hate! I'm skeptical of that car, won't know till you drive though.

I agree that you could go to somewhere like PC specialist and design a beasty PC with dedicated graphics, you do pay a whole lot of apple tax on a MBP.. Ultimately its a trade off between performance, portability and also how much of a fanboy you are. I know photography editors who would spend £2000+ on a Mac Pro before they even considered building a PC not because they are more powerful, but because in that industry it's the accepted thing to do. Could software be a problem for you at all/ sway your choice to one or the other?

Get one, they are coooooool. I also got the mid/upper range 13" pro retina the other day, more than powerful enough IMO.

"Yes Sir, you can suspend your policy until you come back from university. I'll do that for you now." "I've done that for you Sir, just make sure you continue your policy 21 days before it would otherwise have ended or we will charge you cancellation fees." A pointless exercise.

Most programmes of this nature allow you to transfer 10 songs at a time, or something similar. Not ideal when you could have 64gb of music on there.. All attempts I've had to get music off an iPod have ended in either extremely slow transfers/ limited number of song transfers and always unfathomable anger.

Lemon curd instead of '..something..' code?

You wouldn't if you were in a 1.1 litre 75bhp Peugeot 106... Wait a year, get something fun and then go-kart for no change in premium

I had a telematics box for the first year of driving, and do think it helped make me a smoother if not 'better' driver. But it was awful knowing that it doesn't record the situation, just the amount of force you put through the car. So a rabbit runs out in front of you; do you run it over and keep a clean sheet on the black box, or swerve and get a point against your name for 'excessive cornering'. I became so fixated on getting perfect scores every time I went out that I focussed more on that than I did on driving safely! I couldn't/wouldn't ever consider one again though, but at the time it took around £1000 off my premium!

Not getting halls at uni- not the end of the world. Trying to find people to share a house with ad get them to commit, travelling to Swansea, finding a house and ultimately renting it is a fling pain in the back side.

Woooooooooord. I just finished my shift at work, which I only just managed to be on time for.. and surprisingly it wasn't too bad! Was good to see you Jake, despite being tragically hungover and tired! The sweatband I bought is so disgusting now

Got it last minute, told work I wasn't turning up Probably yellow/purple camp, as that's where I've camped for the last 2 years. But to be honest my mates all went today with early bird so I'll camp with them. I'll PM you my number lad, get some beers in!

Bought myself a macbook pro and a Reading festival ticket- I am so poor, and have not enough money to buy food over the weekend. But god I'm happy

You are an awful judge of character! Props for the video though, hope she doesn't find your youtube channel! -
Got a place at uni (Swansea), and finally sold my old car! Glad to see the back of that old thing

That's mental, when these days Ford claim a prospective '177 bhp' from their new 1 litre Ecoboost! I read this on Autocar, it could be very wrong!

How is that even possible?
