  1. Better One of the bolts on the engine mount had worked loose... took the lot of and threadlocked all the bolts. Seems to have cured my issue Timing chain has lots of slack on inspection however, so I'll have to take it off the road and drop the engine to get that done
  2. FINALLY managed to find the source of my mystery knocking when I take up drive. The timing side engine mount appears to have shifted in one way or another. When pressed on the noise presents itself, sounds just like a duff crank pulley... This problem presented itself after I'd replaced the gearbox so I'm assuming it's not enjoyed having the engine hanging from one mount. Collecting another engine next week too, can't beat a freebie! Still need to fit my LSD and attend to my brakes.
  3. Ace cars out of the box. I fit a B16A into one a few months back. Now up for sale and dearly wish I could afford to buy it
  4. My size Stumbled on a bit of a winner today. Local chap had just had his engine changed on his EP3 after it developed a "faint knocking" above 4K rpm... offered me the old lump for £100 quid. Sorted bargain. Came with a good crank pulley that I needed and couldn't seem to find anywhere new for less than £100 for a genuine one, or £40 odd second hand, so the remainer of the engine has cost me £60.00 if you look at it that way. Bonus. Got it in bits.... insert "knock knock" joke here. Pretty much all the shells show signs of being verrrrryyyy hot at some stage so it's been run low on oil at some point. The white deposits on the exhaust valves suggest it's been burning oil anyway so that gives a likely cause. Sorted a crank, shells are about £40.00 for a set of mains and big end bearings and a few quid for some seals. Do need to find myself a connecting rod too but that shouldn't be too difficult. Get it buttoned up and keep as a spare or sell on to make a few quid! Lovely.
  5. Just found a shit load of worn Toyo R888 in my wheel size for pittance... but they're collection only in East Sussex.. Might resurect the 306, tank it up and see how many sets I can fit in the back of it.
  6. I've been going to Pizza Jim (gym) regularly. Garlic mayo is spot on
  7. S2000 biased opinion. Others will suggest mx5
  8. Rather my mapper have girly feet than feed an engine juice at the wrong time for it to DET and squash a rod on the engine I've worked to get in for the last few months.
  9. Does the drivers side use an intermediate shaft? I know on my swap the trick is to swap the shafts over side to side to prevent binding... one shaft is ever slightly shorter than the other. Swap the inner CVs over (NS inner onto O/S shaft and vice versa) and then reinstall according to inner CV. Not 100% on the layout of the Megane running gear.
  10. Just had a read on CS out of interest, gutted for you Dan Is the issue with the binding O/S driveshaft down to manufacture error being custom shafts or do the conversion mounts let the engine sit too far over that way?
  11. Misplaced my wallet at work a few days ago and still haven't found it.
  12. The Civics first track outing was a marginal success only in finding what areas need attention. The lack of LSD was the biggest let down, very understeer happy and struggled to get any power down out of the corner exits, though the lack of rear anti roll bar could also be amplifying this too. My brakes were terrible. Rear effort is still far too low and the front pads (Ferrodos) faded out to nothing after 5 laps when trying to slow for the entry into the inner circuit. Rear brakes wouldn't even lock when the fronts had faded, which they would normally on an OEM cylinder with the proper prop valve. Tyres may be something I'm looking to change, but Rockingham is a notoriously slippy circuit anyway so I'd like to give them one more go elsewhere before I commit to changing those. And my crank pulley has got a wobble on now too, so I need to change that before it rubs through the timing case.
  13. Managed to rescue my other gearbox casing and old differential from the local scrap man. Need to stand the B series LSD side by side with the K series OEM open diff to see what I need to machine off the B series diff for it to fit. Only very little I'm told, and use of one .005 shim needed. Hoping I can get it in the car before Rockingham on Sunday. Had a look over it today, all good. My adjustable RARB links haven't arrived, so as OEM ones don't fit my control arms I'm barless on the tail end. Dislike how raspy the DC2 silencer is on overrun. Tempted to refit the asbo cannon and bring the DC2 silencer along with me but I feel I'm only going to find myself failing the noise test and refitting it regardless.
  14. Peugeot sold, track time at Rockingham booked for this coming Sunday and Cadwell on the 27th of July! Dare i I say it I may even drag the green Civic out of the overgrowth and get cracked on with that this week too.
  15. Have to be doing something right with the old Hondas if people are sending folk my way for work doing Ep3 engine to replace fingers crossed.
  16. Put the MX5 on a track and you'll realllllyyyy see the appeal. I wasn't sold on them at all until Alex took me out in his! Coupe news. I repaired the gearbox Saturday evening after work. Opened it up and as expected, I found the offending gear selector fork bent. Could have been a simple replacement but unfortunately the snap ring around the 3rd gear syncro had been chewed up beyond recognition and needed replacing. I've used the gearset from the donor gearbox with all said syncros and forks. Works a dream! Took the chance to get my tyres swapped across onto my DC2 wheels, so as to return the wheels I'd been lent by Hayden. 300 miles done over this weekend and it's working flawlessly. I've got my B series box now with the LSD so next time the box/engine has to come out I'll get the diff fitted too.
  17. These are the real first world problems we should be worrying about. Hopefully Daves found a use for said tenner, snorting some class A goodness and bringing him into a world of happiness and enlightenment... ..and hopefully a coma.
  18. I'd say it'll be the tank breather leaking if it's only above half full. Check the filler neck to see if it's rotten.
  19. Bagged myself a B series LSD box that I'm going to rob the diff out of to go in the K series box. One thing that let the car down massively was the lack of any sort of decent diff so this should be a nice stop gap until I can afford a plated diff. Going to test fit the teg wheels this weekend too to see what sort of offset I get and see if I can squeeze some bigger brakes under there.
  20. Still go back to watch this video now! Quality.
  21. Installed the Quaife ATB diff today in a customers FN2 Type R. Huge envy, not the style of diff I'm after for my gearbox but it would have been welcome Not too long now I hope.
  22. Who are you with Dan? Belting price that.
  23. I see him posting on facebook in "track time" fairly frequently. I love the look of that car!
  24. Removed from an EP3 that suffered an electrical fire, hence the low price.
