I used to use a bit of bubble wrap under mine, only to soak up some impact but it also worked to stop the frame from scuffing.

No. I've taken the time to build something solid but light, putting a heavy rear wheel on isn't an option considering the amount i'm spending on it.

French Coust's are bonded into Magura backings which are much stronger and stiffer than the power pad backings Steve uses. Also Steve bonds his pads a different way to Michel.

If you're changing the whole lever including the body it should be fine. However if you where thinking of just changing the blade it wont fit due to the cam design inside the Deore.

One of my mates uses Snafu Rim Jobs front and back. Aside from the Sh*t name they seem really good, he uses them on his 4X bike he uses for racing and on his street bike.
