  1. Well, finally finished my stock after a brief period of madness riding mod... So glad to be back on big wheels! Couple of pics first of all... Little spec... '04 Short Control. '07 Urbans. King headset. Original best of the best high rise Zoo bars, Thomson Stem (with 6x Titanium bolts), full Carbon Fibre topcap and spacer, Ritchey WCS Foams. Hope Pro2 front on Mavic X317 Disc rim, Titanium QR, Tryall tyre, Latex tube. Hope Pro2 rear (with Titanium bolts) on Alex DX32, Maxxis Minion Single Ply, with home-made tubeless . HS33 rear, Rock blue's, modified Shimano XTR Carbon booster (the best), Titanium bolts for caliper and lever. Hope Mono Trial front, Titanium rotor and lever bolts. Tensile Urban Legend cranks, modified GU bash to fit, FSA Platinum DH with Titanium crank bolts. Wellgo MG-1 Magnesium pedals. Kool chain, 74Kingz. Total weight: 21.9 pounds complete. Measured at Mud Dock on proper scales, none of this bathroom malarky (bathroom scales indicate 20.5lbs). Pretty damn chuffed with it, few other pimp bits to get like a carbon lever blade etc., but in no hurry as I'm enjoying floating up everything in sight! Comments welcome (no I wouldn't rather black forks ) Cheers
  2. 99% sure I'll be there... Although my little legs wont carry me to Temple Meads, have to meet you a la castle park!
  3. Good lads, you know it makes sense! Now fingers crossed mr postman brings me a helicoil kit of joy, otherwise I'll be crying tears of sadness all day
  4. ARG try and stop me if my helicoil kit arrives in the morning... Going to be so gutted if it doesn't!
  5. Nice one Ben, I'll be out with Rowan a bit later I should think, hopefully bump into you somewhere!! Try and be in Castle Park around 1 ish? See you then
  6. I don't need to think about it, I know they aren't. I've been around long enough to realise what is and isn't "old skool". 3 or 4 years is not old skool.
  7. I'm sorry, but the Trialskings are NOT "old skool" at all! Props to Akrigg for continuing to be an absolute nut bar, he clearly took Mr T's advice and got some nuts.
  8. Nice pics mate! Let me know when your exams are all done, another visit to Bristol and the wonderful cider barge are in order And Fred doesn't need a helmet, is head is made of concrete.
  9. You must feel pretty shit about building my wheel with your spare rim... Muhahaha
  10. Hopping on then straight back off to me just pushes me to actually MAKE it and stick it... If I make the height but can't quite hold it, it kinda spurs me on to fully stick it. If I don't, then to me it's only 1/2 done. From what people are saying, if you hop on then straight off that's it, done. So what if you make it and hold it? Is that a completely different move?
  11. I've had a few pairs, and I can't seem to ride with any other pedals now! They are ridiculously grippy, very light, but definitely not the strongest pedals out there. Pedals can tear out pretty easily as the magnesium body is quite soft. Also, keep an eye on the axles - one of mine became slightly loose on a ride, and by the end of the day it tore itself out of the pedal body! (But that was due to not tightening the axle and continuing to ride without sorting it - didn't have the tools). I'm making them sound worse than they are, I love them to bits!
  12. Ok, been having a really annoying internet connection problem for the past few months. My girlfriend and I share an internet connection (Telewest/Virgin 2mb broadband, cable stylee). My PC is connected directly to the Motorola cable modem provided by the ISP, via USB cable. Girlfriend's laptop is connected wirelessly via a Belkin Wireless G Router (802g), which is connected to the modem via network cable (RJ11/45 not sure which!). The two systems aren't on a network together, we aren't connected for filesharing or anything. Router is protected by the basic WPA password business, which we change on a regular basis. It is just her using the wireless. Now, the problem is, the majority of the time if we are using the internet at the same time, my connection becomes pants. Sites are slow to load, if at all... MSN logs me in and out. However, I can get around this by opening up Bitlord and downloading something (torrents). This renders my girlfriends connection useless and she has no access at all. If she isn't using the internet at all, mine is fine. The moment she connects it all goes to shit. It's almost as if her wireless connection somehow is given priority over the bandwidth, and again somehow Bitlord gives it back to me. I'm not very clued up these days on network stuff, so I really need some advice! I would have thought 2mb would be fine for sharing, seeing as the problem lies in general browsing etc. Any ideas people? It is beginning to offend me greatly lol. Cheers in advance
  13. Apparantly it's not actually spongeyness... It's a lack of feel, the brake feels "wooden" almost. With a Hope it is a little easier to modulate, you can actually feel when the pads are just touching or fulling locked. But having not used one on my own bike, I can't really say anything more. Just something I've heard a few people say now. Lots of people run them successfully so I wouldn't worry! 203 shouldn't really cause the PR too many problems, but then again it would be like a massive on/off switch I should think! The modulation discs give you is sooo much better!
  14. Hold and lock is easily as good, if not better than any magura I've tried with a grind. Other riders actually laughed on a recent ride because my brake was holding on ups when my back wheel wasn't even on top/on the edge of the wall, it was actually holding me on the flat face of the wall!! The combination of decent 180mm brake and small mod wheel means there is barely any flex (just make sure you build the rear wheel 4 cross, nice and tight). I'm sure the Avid would be much the same. I know what they are like having used one on my stock (albeit on the front), they are more than capable. The only bad thing I've heard about rear Avid's is the lack of feel at the lever.
  15. I run/ran 180mm f&r on my 221 PR (Hope's... Not Avid), and they are ridiculous, almost TOO powerful, they are basically on or off! Seriously, 203 will be completely overkill, and you are much more likely to catch them on sidehops etc. I'm a bit of a rail and gap drop fan, and rear disc did concern me a bit, hence going for 180 over 160, but seriously the power and hold is ridiculous! As for bedding in, don't make the mistake of ragging it down a hill and just dragging the brake, as it will glaze over. Just go at a jogging pace, and lightly dab the brake every 5 seconds or so. Do that for a while, pour some nice fresh cold water on the caliper and rotor, and repeat. Mine was absolutely insane after about 15 minutes, then after a day it just took the p***! (Wish my stock had a rear disc mount )
  16. I seriously hope they develop the new Justice with a decent rear disc mount... It needs to be done!
  17. Rowan's the best damn postie the world has ever seen. He writes on my letters when he's on my round hahaha
  18. Clem... Brought a tear to my eye, just knowing I've had the pleasure of riding with such a unique individual as yourself I MISS YOU, MOVE TO BRISTOL!! Anyway, you legend, you truly have an eye for a unique line! bumbumbum
  19. My god I need to take a pic of your bike mate, the colour looks gash there!! So much nicer in the metal!
  20. Nice one bigboy, didn't look quite so hungover there Good lad x
  21. Nice one Clemmage my son, very hard to appreciate just how big some of that stuff is on video! Bristol awaits...
  22. Hahaha Boon well found Love the vid Pete, flowy and nice lines as has been said... Surprised some of the lines were done seeing as the hangover was monstrous! Come back to Bristol soon, always welcome See you in Kentish town next week
  23. Haha nice. Easter I'll be working weekends as per usual... But mid week is the best time for me, guarenteed to be free tues-thurs. So you, Pete and Clem should get up here and rinse! How's notts going mate?
  24. Cheers for the comment. I haven't measured the bench gap exactly... I used to rinse it on my stock, has taken me a while to adjust to mod but finally got it yesterday. Really is a different technique on a little Monty! I'm sure someone must have measured it sometime?
  25. Clem you legend, Pete told me 'bout you working, good effort son! Mod... Well it all went downhill when I got rid of the Ashton, got a Long Control and couldn't ride for shit, wasn't riding anywhere near as much as I wanted, just lost interest really , but since I've had the mod it's all been funfunfun, having to re-learn all the old stuff kinda inspired me to ride more haha! Defo get your ass up to Brizzol, there are so many lines you'll explode! Plus you need to show Rowan how the South-East boys ride street
