  1. its even simpler,i think.(ironic lol) we all know the "flow"(as psychological term) feeling you have when riding, everything seems to happen automaticly and all other things are pushed to the background of your thinking.thats because your brain has to cut parts off the oxygene supply to supply your muscles and the rest of the brain,to hold up the vigilance you need to "survive"when riding.so when reacting is needed, thinking isnt that important, will be cancelled lol that "burnout day after a serious riding day": thats because the brain throws out loads of ephedrine, adrenaline and dopamine due to the thrill you get when hopping, dropping etc... once the neurotransmitters are shot out by your synapsis,it takes up a process of reloading, the "reuptake",which can last a few days, depending on how much thrill you had and how much neurotransmitters were ready when you started to release them. hence your abilities vary from your brains metabolism processes simple, huh?
  2. okay then,i ordered some 80 a resin liquid and 100g of heat supressing filler, now its getting serious! the only thing is i got to build a mould now, didnt think starting off with liquid stuff at first. so far i only experimented with the chocolate compound shown here: the problem was, this stuff tasted so good that i ate it all, before my rim had the chance to... :wink2: edit:sorry, for those who are interested in pad diy, like bing and mrstix,i found out i can vary the durometer by adding filler and changing the resin/hardener ratio(thanks to rob leech for the tip) from 80a - 95a,so one could just get that stuff as a basic to start mixing from, with like pigments and stuff, too then. its the stuff led diodes are moulded together etc. this will be awesome!
  3. nah, at work we throw away 10 pairs of maggie pads/week,and the only think i have to do is rip them out in a vice. but thanks and without molding the pads(first proto pads will be finished pu,later resin),the original maggie pads have a weird shape to machine refills to
  4. theyre reusable, and they havent got those 2 nobbles which the plastic ones have on the inside, underneath the pad material. easier cutting a shape of a certain recess than to fit an uneven shape
  5. haha went for cnc ones too!(noticed your edit and the following topic in classifieds lol) getting mine the next few days hopefully... edit:i think i´ll try liquid 2k pu once a good durometer is found,so i can play around with pigments and fillers to adjust my compound
  6. give him your old chain, its half as old as his actually
  7. in fact,if done properly,it should make them even stronger because you remove a wall thickness step which is always a stress riser
  8. i tried it,i just put old black maggies in a vice and ripped it out with pliers. so you take the testing serious bing?respect :wink2: ask your lbs for worn pads, theyll have some
  9. exactly. i know what lifespan i can get out of a new chain, but i wouldnt know that from a used one. and a snapping chain when gapping is no joke, you go like "salto mortale forwards"
  10. not a big fan of mod videos but this made me look like edit:up to front at 1:50 wtf
  11. painted my new wellgos in neon yellow, turned out pretty greenish but looks so juicy!
  12. its maybe that the first thing one would do after buying a used bike is putting a new chain on? and only parts you destroyed that were used from brandnew count, who knows what the previous owner did to it? i snapped a chain once, since then i changed it every 6 months the latest. no problems at all now
  13. i assume you didnt use trials specific pads yet?the difference is astonishing! i too used red maguras as a beginner, but was blown out of my shoes from phatpads(that were the second ones i tried)
  14. different bb rise(changing the angle of the drouputs in a fair few cases) can result in that, too. what frame/tire/gear ratio?
  15. but let him/her sign a disclaimer before that :wink2:
  16. woah, that was really a touching story. thanks for sharing
  17. i love this forum guys! almost spit my coke over my laptops keyboard reading this topic again
  18. you should make your own shoesoles out of polyurethane shore 80a
  19. har har! as i mentioned before,to cover different gear ratios at different cs lenghts. jokers btw my marino isnt even a mm off the geo i designed, and my old one wasnt, too. just saying
  20. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureka_%28word%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureka_effect seeing as the original pronouncement is heureka it should be an "a"... ...not a "an" lol
  21. or you ziptie a spring sheet with a teflon glider to your chainstay(ignore the dedicated mount on my pic)
  22. in the future you´ll be wanting selfmade pads by bing, mrstix,or me..... ...whoever succeeds first lol
