  1. Hmmm , difficult to diagnose but given that differing tensioners affect the "slipping " I suspect you're not getting sufficient chain wrap on the rear cog . What size cog are you running ? You might get reliable results with a sprung tensioner like this . Might be worth inspecting the chainline aswell to ensure it's running in as straight a line as possible between front and rear chainrings / sprockets . Welcome to the forum by the way , you already have a validation vote from me for this post .

    Boosters

Moreover , the absence of a booster allowed everything to flex so that the pads bit into the rim fully - good power , but not sustainable as the pads will wear unevenly and all related hardware may develop play . Given that you'd only tested the new setup for day be patient -remount the booster and allow the pads to wear in .
  3. Didn't know this was out on DVD , loved but lost my copy ( LOL VHS ) long ago , totally getting this . Holes - your BMX background should be a healthy base of bike handling , now it's time for precision . Watch lots of good riders' videos to learn what's possible and the body language required and try to ride with others of all skill levels .

    Vee's

Shimano has worked best for me , although avoid any of their parralel push variants like the plague , as they rapidly develop play . Even ( older ) XTR is easily outlived by cheapo Deore and feels and performs the just as well . . That's where I settled as well , although I might give XT a shot . Encountered bit of a problem with the arms protruding far enough to catch / impale my ankles , but solved it by fiddling with the pad's spacers .
  5. Pretty worn down grind Standard generic clear V pads . More pics in KK link below .
  6. There's a lot to be said for the lost art of spanner waggling . Initial setup and careful maintenance should get things running pretty smoothly albeit upon used parts . That said , new bike syndrome offers a huge confidence boost !
  7. By all accounts it seems fine as long as you specify per E Mail very precisely exactly what you want in terms of colour , size etc and have him / them confirm availability . An established local retailer like Select or Tarty seems prefferable though for returns of faulty good or warranty claims .
  8. Yup , careful setup can make the difference between the same hardware resulting in an OK brake and a superb one . In my experience , the calipers themselves needn't be terribly exotic - I get easily controllable locking power using cheapo Deore arms . Good cleanly cut outer cable feels noticable better and a booster for the rear is pretty much essential .
  9. Am I so damned old that upon reading the title I didn't even think of computer games , but actual trials challenge games ? Like Ashton and Hawyes used to challenge eachother to ride sections with the rule that the cranks may only move forwards , no backpedalling at all . Does wonders for one's timing .
  10. Welcome back , I guess . Try to put a bit more effort into your writing to avoid the purgatory that is non validation . Your Base TA 26 - did you buy it recently ? Can you suggest a retailer that still offers these ( hugely underrated ) frames , as I've been hoping to buy one before they're no longer available .

    Prison

Pretty interesting read so far , albeit from an American perspective . I worked in ( Dutch ) prisons for 2 years and it's a pretty fascinating world with a lot of unwritten rules and invisible boundaries . Certainly made me think how I'd handle myself if I were on the other side of the bars . To answer one of your questions - how well I think I'd handle being locked up , depends on the nature of the offence and I'd pray to the Gods that the inmates never found out I used to be a corrections officer ! The 2 most hated groups are sex offenders and bent cops / guards . With regards to solitary confinement , impossible to say as our lives are so filled with stimuli none of us has ever endured 2-3 weeks in a silent , white cell with no printed matter and no sense of time . Reading the rest now .
  12. Yikes ! Some pretty ballsy drops there . Impressive how he can turn his hand to street / dirtjumping / trials and park in one video and be so proficient at all disciplines . Are you really so far off his level though ? You've certainly got the whole versatility vibe going .
  13. Superb and really entertaining ! Some of the maneuvers were impressive just for having thought of 'em let alone execution , looking forward to more .
  14. VERY impressive , great mix of technical and just plain big riding . Neat edit too . Loved the long rail to gap sequence and I appreciate anyone who's not afraid to show their bails .
  15. Some really tasty bikes here , always loved Commencals . Bought this secondhand from the Dutch E bay for a killer price . I'm amazed at it's condition given that it's probably a 1999 or 2000 model ( haven't seen IRC tyres since El Gatos used to be THE stock tyre ) I think it's an F700 , always wanted one of these in this colourway ' cause of a notable U.K trials pioneer . With winter approaching , this should offer me a way to ride when trials is impractical Spec is pretty basic and I ain't terribly thrilled at having gripshift but I'll give it a chance and I ditched both front rings ' cause I live in one of the flattest areas of the flattest country in Europe . I've been riding singlespeed trials & street so long it's a revelation to be able to sit normally and select appropriate gears , so relaxing ! The trials punk in me said the frame size is ideal , but perhaps I should have gone for a medium since it's really just for cruising around . Priority : decent pedals and tyres now that the frame and fork have proven that they're trustworthy .
  16. Lovely ! Surely you didn't find this new / unused ? Took a while to learn to trust mine , but once comfortable it's such an obedient frame , I only wish mine had horizontal dropouts like yours .
  17. Oh Goddamnit ! Back when I lived in the U.K and the cycling / trials bug bit me I lived in Byfleet - just down the road . Not much help I'm afraid , but I would have killed for some riding buddies .
  18. Hey ! Nearest train station is Den Haag Centraal , from where we could ride Den Haag itself which also offers plenty of killer riding . Kinda hoping to find fellow riders here , too . "Ride with someone else for a change " ? In tegenstelling tot - Julien ,or Mr. Koekoek ?

  19. Love to join you , but I'm working both tonight ( Thursday ) and Friday nights , unfortunately . Also , I recently moved to Scheveningen - plenty of cool locations . Ever around this area ? You're welcome anytime !

  20. Ridiculously good ! Hope to see a high resolution video soon to showcase your impressive style. For a UCI comp frame , the K.K is so playful - it really inspires streety riding ( though not to your level of competence . )
  21. That was a pretty RAD video , some sick riding ,interesting to see how people reactor it . I like the music too , electronic music makes my radio active. Was that an atomz frame? Seiously , though - impressive riding , you can tell how light that mod must be by the way it's effortlessly handed over the fence .
  22. For conventional MTB bars , Azonic World Force risers are superb , offering a nice streety feel . Trials specific ? The Trialtech sport riser is lovely and looks great .
