  1. Super helpful reply Forteh , even for a long time V user like myself .
  2. This site offers the legendary Echo Pure 2004 ! VERY tempting . As to the suspiciously low prices - maybe sheer geographical proximity of Canada to China ( manufacturer ) ?
  3. I gotta ask - in your sig you suggest you are or were running King hubs ... having used those pretty much ANY hub would feel like it's underperforming let alone the widely distrusted Deng freehubs . Did your King perish ?
  4. Still offering that blue King rear hub ? VERY interested !

  5. Good selection of cockpit controls Mr. Tarty , looks really playful .
  6. Hey Danny , hoping to meet / ride with you soon !

  7. Definitive evidence that talent ( or at least training ) counts more than technology . If he can perform like that on a wholly unsuitable bike , there's no excuse for frustrated kids whose parents bought 'em the latest superlight brand name machine .
  8. Interesting thread . It's true us Euro fellas take it more seriously in terms of commitment and downright will to win . This results in more intensive training , but fewer smiles and relaxed rides - when a group of Euro kids go for a ride , it's almost a competition among themselves . As to the failings of the U.K comp scene - YOU are the comp scene ! Attend more , volunteer , support more . Simply put , when more people attend someone will see money to be made so will invest in teams / sponsorship . Ultimately though , the U.K does damned well given the lack of infrastructure and council support and hey - at least we kick the U.S' ass . No - really , what the Hell is up with the total absence of American riders ?
  9. No luck with either of the suggested shops and I'm unable to use E-Bay ' cause I don't have PayPal , I think I'm too stupid to figure out how to set up an account . Does no established shop still have these frames ?
  10. Can anyone suggest a retailer that still offer the Base TA26 frame ? Tartybikes had them for an absurdly cheap price untill I guess last week , so I always thought I'd go with them when the time came , but they appear to be out of stock ( get it ? - stock ) My current one has served me well but it's really time for a fresh one , and it seems no one I can find still offers 'em . If unable to locate a new one I guess I'll throw it open to the For sale / wanted threads where the are a couple on offer but would prefer new . Any ideas ?
  11. Holy poop - that was absurdly good , how'd I miss that first time round ? This fellow has a seriously versatile , inventive riding style. Is this work of art available for download anywhere like Vimeo , or is the DVD from which this came still available to buy ?
  12. Oh Lord , yes ! Something like this from a British manufacturer would be superb .
  13. Hotel - Zulu , over . But seriously "Aich "and "Zed "for me although in my native Holland "H" is a horrible guttural "Gggggg."

Superb ! A possible new ambassador for ( British ) bike trials , perhaps to take over Mr.Ashton's mantle .A great representative as he's well spoken , genuinely enthusiastic about our sport for it's own sake , absurdly skilled at actually riding and hasn't forgotten that it's meant to be fun . Awfully professionally made video too that's absorbing without the need for insane moves .
  15. Oh my - that is a lovely bike , and probably still as strong as ever .
  16. I'm guessing some kinda U.C.I style move ? I also heard Adam from Tarty talk about a move he called a " batman " - guess I'm not down with the cool kids anymore with your funky names for moves . Back on topic , gonna have to check out Mr.Watson's videos and try to find that one of Coustellier .
  17. Been enjoying practicing fakie recently , just rolling backwards trying to end up in a specific spot .
  18. So you're lining up for a move and pop the bike onto it's back wheel ready to bust out a sidehop or gap . A few correction hops and readjustments of body position and you're nicely stable on the back wheel . Every once in a while especially when you're not even aware of it you seem to "hover " between correction hops and just hold it perfectly . It's like a static manual . I had it yesterday , setting up and suddenly realising that I was just standing without hopping ( more like squirming during a manual ) for quite some seconds . It's one of those things that I suspect if you delibarately attempt to do it could evade you for ages but when focused on your intended landing spot can occur naturally . I've seen both Mr. Felix Mucke and one of the Coustelliers stretch it out ridiculously long , usually in preparation for a sidehop . I would guess that a low pressure tyre on a fat rim will help and a good deal of subtle knee movement to stay over the sweet spot . Backhoppin' without the hops - backhovering ? Ever find yourself doing this ? Any good video footage ?
  19. Holy poop ! I just may have to return to the U.K briefly for this and show you guys how the Dutch riders injure themselves in new and innovative ways . Will there be an official cinematographer ?
  20. Well , it took a lotta pesistence , a few scary loopouts off the back and all your advice , but I can confidently state that I can now roll a decent controllable manual . Actually the overzealous pullups that spat me off the back were invaluable lessons , teaching me exactly where my bike's pivot point is and that I won't crack my skull open if it goes wrong and my fears dissipated . Many thanks for all your advice , it really IS all in the legs although you can read that a thousand times but untill you feel that point where the bike strangely seems to become lighter and you can just stay there without corrections ( as Mr.Bongo mentioned ) it's hard to implement . It also really helped to stay loose and relaxed and kinda "feel" rather than think in a Zen / Jedi proprioceptive sort of way . Better still - having made some major advances already , manuals became easier still when I recently bought my first fat drilled proper trials rim and shod it with Schwalbe's excellent Big Betty . I ain't no Felix Mucke , but I'm now confident enough to not only roll manuals just for the Hell of it , but to actually USE and incorporate them into lines . I realise this is "Happy thread " material , but given that the advice offered here helped me loads , hopefully bumping this thread may be useful to others seeking a deeper understanding of the fundamental underlying workings of the universe .
  21. Got me plenty of new componentry , thanks largely to this forum's for sale / wanted topics and a recent trip to the U.K . Yup , same old frame now on it's 2nd respray but structurally intact even after drilling to allow internal cable routing . . Yeah , that's right- Deore cranks with a ghetto bashring , what ? Insanely long valve stem on rear wheel ! Uh huh - worn out Try - All lock on grips ( They're um...lighter that way ) I kinda feel like Senior Members should have absurdly well specced ultra expensive superlight signature prototypes , and I'm letting the side down . Despite the lack of CNC'ed adornment , it put a big ol' smile on my face and feels obedient and playful on street .
  22. ...Then spake he unto the forum of trials saying " Behold , a mighty creation have I wrought ." And they who gave worship unto Koxx did say " Truly this man has found salvation in the wilderness , let us cast aside overpriced brands like the false idols they are . "
  23. I'm certain that you enjoy this so much more than the spoiled kids who receive a brand new Koxx / Monty from their parents and then complain that their Chris King hub isn't quite the colour they wanted . You don't even have to ride well to feel proud , just riding that thing at all is a testament to your commitment to the sport and resourcefulness .
  24. That ^ white and red jumper appears to have no lower headset cup ? Headtube doesn't seem wide enough to be running an internal headset so , uh ... what the seven Hells ? Pretty nice lookin' bike though .
