  1. Should be a good solid way into DH At least you have something to ride and can upgrade as and when you break stuff or have the money I did a similar thing when i got told i had to give up trials i bought a 2nd hand dh bike the next day. She's been slowely upgraded and is nearly how i want her now. She's got saint cranks and an e.thirteen chain device on since this pic was taken. Just a new front wheel and saddle to go
  2. I've been press ganged into doing my first 4X race on Sunday at the NPS round in Chesterfield and was wondering who else was going? Keep an eye out for me on a green simtra bnb, with sun singletracks and hopefully rockshox pikeys by then!
  3. It's integrated graphics which were never designed for anything more than basic office work, and watching videos etc. If you want something that will actually do something more than the integrated, then you'll want to spend about £50.
  4. Currently got a samsung sgh-i300 smartphone with hard drive (which knackers the battery). Have just ordered an upgrade (free of course), of an XDA orbit, has gps etc as well as the thing i really need which is pocket outlook. My phone runs my life when I'm at work and gets me to all my meetings on time
  5. anzo, i think it's only orange that you have to buy the phone from. There may be clauses built into some other contracts about having to leave it at a certain minimum payment for 3 months or so, before you can reduce it, but generally all other operators you keep the phone, no questions. Talking of which i think my contracts up for renewal, hmmm wonder what i can get free lol.

    Hop Idol.

I was in the 2004 comp, it was me and Matt Barlow that got through from the heat i was in. Riding at the bike show was a good laugh. I was on a 2002 Mad in the heat and a 2004 Base TA26 in the final, got knocked out first due to not having the balls to do loads of stuff i knew i could lol. Still can't complain, it got me a free weekend pass for NASS
  7. i know there was an online fully functional version of word 2007 on the microsoft site for a while, not sure if it's still there, might be worth a look though. As an alternative though open office is pretty hot and can do most things and some word can't. For instance if your writing a CV and spend time getting the layout looking right then it's best to convert it to a PDF as it locks everything down and stops someone opening the file in their version/setup of word and messing up all your hard work. I'm pretty sure open office has a pdf converter built in so theres a bonus right there

    Baaaad Head

iron brew and a fried breakfast. Best hangover cure i found in 4 years of being a student, and believe me i tried a few!
  9. 10.22 overall most of that's on flights though which is a bit false this year as i don't usually fly as much as i have/am this year. 1.89 house 0.79 appliances 7.55 travel - will be reduced once i move next month and bike to work rather than drive, and less flights trouble is thats all not including business flights, which would more than double my overall total.
  10. Thats my intention when i get the Pikes, run them at 100mm for 4X and bump them up to 130 for freeride etc. May well be riding it on the london -> brighton ride this sun too, still need to get to chicksands, but my ankles still not healed properly :@
  11. Definately go for a set of revelations, they are absolutely immense. I'm currently trying to decide between them and pikes for my 4X bike as the pikes have extra stiffness, but for about a lb weight penalty (although they weigh the same as the pile of shite marzocchi dropoffs i currently have). Marz reputation for reliability is legendary, but as someone else said, it's usually with a weight penalty and the new RS seals and internals have brought them level IMO. Tomm, rock shox were a bit ginger beer a couple of years ago, but since SRAM took them over they have been revolutionised and are now producing the best forks on the market by some way. Top to bottom in their range is the best you can get. I have some 2007 boxxers on my DH bike which i can't fault and will be buying some new single crown 130mm travel ones soon too. It's no co-incidence that on the last mbuk hardcore hardtail test 3 out of the 4 bikes tested had RS revelations on, with the other having a maz all mountain fork. On the subject of U-turn i think it's brilliant, means i'll be able to wind the forks on the front of my 4X bike down to 100mm of travel for racing and boost it up a little when learning the track and doing other general freeride on it. Also the low speed compression damping is similarly very good, finally you get a true full range of adjustment from supple as a gymnast to rock solid, even on my boxxers i can effectively lock them out by winding up the low speed compression damping, yet on fully active they eat anything. Final Conclusion: Rock Shox Revelations
  12. Only ridden it at the dj ride soo far, but will be giving it a thrash around chicksands soon. Imagine it will be good though as the steerings pretty quick considering the 130mm fork and its got a nice tight back end.
  13. Well I've just got my my new frame for my 4X bike so i thought i'd post it up. Simtra bnb frame Maz dropoff forks (2005 130mm travel) Sun Singletrack rims on Hope hubs (ProII front, XC rear) Hone cranks with e.thirteen sts guide Hayes HFX9 rear and deore hydro front brakes (both with 203 rotors) Easton Vice stem and RF Diablos bars SRAM attack shifter, tiagra mech, roadie casette and KMC X9 chain brand x post and carbon bodied, ti railed saddle Wellgo flatties minion front and el gato rear tyres Pretty much finished now, just needs a set of single ply minions and some new forks, probably RS Pikeys. The frames available through the simtrabikes uk website, which is part of everyones favourite trials shop beginning with T
  14. Awesome day, fantastic weather, really good atmosphere and some amazing riding going on, and managed to get a tan to boot Huge thanks to Sue, Charlie and anyone who helped make it happen. Andy Hill (green simtra bnb jump bike who spent most of the time bunnyhop to manualling)
  15. 2002 Mad team frame only since yesterday when my new 4X bike frame turned up. Has 6 cracks in it and still going strong, will be made into a hack around bike again at some point.
  16. Quality vid, very enjoyable to watch again and again Nice lines done smoothly, good to see something different to the one move wonders that have taken over trials in the past few years. Great editing too, subtle and simple, just how i like it. One for the classics folder i think

I'll mainly be there for the social event with maybe a little riding depending on getting a chain, how my ankle is and my wrist Definately hope the weathers the same as today! It's forcast for it
  18. I'm a graduate systems engineer for Xerox. Do trouble shooting and problem identification/solving on pre-production digital multifunctional photocopiers. Generally working with machines that do 32 to 87 prints a minute, fit in an office environment and cost between £5K and £25K. The range i work on is responsible for about $1.5billion turnover a year, so pretty damn huge numbers! I'm currently managing a test fleet of 17 machine, 14 in Welwyn where i work, 1 in Uxbridge and 2 in Henrietta in the US. Really enjoy how varied the work is in that i have to know pretty much the entire machine inside out and nearly every problem i get called to is different, and needs me to be on my toes. Got the potential to travel the world, to Melaysia where we've got a manufacturing facility, to the US for pre-launch external customer testing support and pretty much anywhere on the globe if the need arises within one of our major customer accounts. Also being on the grad scheme means i get a payrise every 6 months of a min of 5% and get to chage department every 6 months to get a nice varied experience. Dislike, having to do software upgrades on 17 machines once every two weeks at the moment, a bit repetative, but still theres always something unique about each one which helps the development etc. Oh and the 7.30 conference call which means a 5.30 in the morning alarm
  19. Mine can tell me the stresses and strains in things, and also fluid flow characteristics of things.
  20. You'll find a lot of modern network adaptors sense whether theres a crossover or patch cable being used and adjust as necessary so you might be able to use a direct connection with a standard network cable and get a full speed connection for quickest transfer speed. It's then just a matter of giving them static ip's one digit apart and copying the data accross.
  21. Cheers for all the advice guys. I've gone straight from 600 grit down to brasso on a cloth and there looking nice and shiny at the moment. Am going to get some wire wool and do them with that then some more brasso and i think the first one will be done!! The one thats been brasso'd looks fantastic already so will be pimping once all finished! Will get some pics in a bit.
  22. Well having used (and abused) my middleburns for 4 years riding trials, having to give up trials has led me to think about using them in a second incarnation on my XC bike. However as with all trials cranks they've taken a beating and so look pretty shabby, so I've decided to give them a sanding to get rid of the battered finish and just leave the deeper scratches. I've sanded all the anodising off the arms initially with 400 grit paper then given them a going over with 600 grit, which has got rid of the anodising and the light surface scratches but now i want to get them polished up to a nice mirror finish for maximum pimp value. This leads to my question..... Whats the best way to get them to a nice mirror finish? My current plan is to move up the grit scale, then move onto some sort of rubbing compound? What have you used on aluminium to get really good finishes? Cheers Andy
  23. go 2nd hand, you'll be able to pick up a nice year old xc hardtail that was about £500-600 new, defo worth it.
  24. yeah yeah yeah, Give me a bell too and i'll come for a chicky bashing. I'm probs off up there at some point this weekend coming, so if anyones around, let me know which day and i'll meet you up there.
  25. I play sometimes, although my play varies from shit to absolutely terrible, so will generally be cannon fodder lol. I usually play on the dads army server with Tic and Danc.
