  1. Hay guys. Looking at getting some new bolts as a few are rusting/rusty. Can you help me with the sizes if I tell you the components? The bike is a 2012 echo lite 20" and most parts are stock that I'm replacing bolts on. Echo tr disk hub (front and rear) axle bolts - M6 x 25 (does Cap or Taper make a difference?). Correct? Echo stem - same bolts? Top cap - m6 x 30 or 35 countersunk? Thats all for now. Cheers.
  2. Same with my BB. If you hang cranks on it will it rotate freely? ( like atleast a single rotation) Without cranks my bb is hard to turn also. I think its just like that. It doesn't matter as much as it would on a road bike for example.
  3. What have I apparently done wrong now? Yes I said that, and changed my mind and decided I had more to say on the subject. As I am entitled to. I apologised to romm for the comment and explained it wasn't an insult but rather an expression of disbelief as to why he was disregarding perfectly reasonable advice... so why go back to bringing up somthing that was said and apologised for. Again, I'm sorry for that comment. My opinions are my own, I am entitled to express them. There are no laws against disrespecting anyone aslog as you'r not inciting race/violence Etc..If you are asking me to not post any more in this topic as an administrator/moderator then I will obey you and ask why you see any one opinion as more/less than another? However, if your simply saying you dont like my posts, then simply don't read them I have no obligation to please everyone with what I say...
  4. Is it not also likley to damage suspension? I know of some sus that does have "top out" protection, but usually they are tripple-clamp 300mm travel Marazocci (?) And such... pulling up on forks can cause topping out and eventually the forks will degrade, leak and brake. Most trials components are built specifically for trials (if you race F1, you use a F1 car etc...) and even then they brake. What will happen if you went on a bungee jump forum and said " hay guys im thinking of using just a tow rope I have in the boot of my car, but its ok because nobody's tested it and i know its strong enough"... Also, out of curiosity how much is this carbon road stem? Cheers.
  5. I use a try-all 108.9 - seems fine. Have used, and broke within one day; Many Schimano freewheels (£5 jobs) ACS Claw So I don't reccomend any of those.
  6. If you read the "Potential applications" on the wiki, you will see this; "Sports equipmentStronger and lighter tennis rackets, bicycle parts, golf balls, golf clubs, and baseball bats." quote name="aener" post="2521481" timestamp="1370507557"] ...Or you could just accept that whilst CNT is a stupendously cool material, it's simply not appropriate for trials bikes.
  7. Yes Mark, I see your point I was also thinking that they wouldnt be good at taking impact. But using them for parts like cranks and mix it in with carbon fibre somthing. So the compression was taken by the fiber and the stretch by the nanotube. Bet you could make some seiously funky looking bike parts Also there is the option of sandwich (stick several together to create somthing that can take the bendy forces)
  8. No but the newest "space age" materials are the only logical direction to go... a bike made of carbon-nanotubes would be just about unbreakable and impossibly light .(wiki)".. ability to endure tension of a weight equivalent to 6422 kg (14,158 lbs) on a cable with cross section of 1 mm2" Makes carbon fibre look a bit out of date
  9. Would possibly consider one second hand maybe... still be a lot The bike lol not a zonda although i'd love one
  10. Thanks, you too. Btw. How long have you been riding?
  11. I see. I guess its my mistake in classification of bike sports. Looks like a mix of all sorts. Thanks for enlightening me.
  12. Advice taken lol I do actually feel grumpy today... iv got a cold but I didnt mention it Ill have a look at that. Will be interesting. Cheers, and apologies romm.
  13. A lot of guys here do that.... do any of you use suspension? Or know anyone who does? (No im not saying it's not trials if you use suspension) I haven't seen anyone do trials wih suspension ever I dont think... unless trials is "jumping down stairs" yeah then suspension is good. Get full suspension, then you can go really big drop in's etc.. like on that show "drop in". Is that the sort of riding that you do? Cannondale lefty fork with the steer tube suspension. Maybe iv seen trials with that im not sure...
  14. Sempt happy with that hehe. Nice gap! I suck at kicking from rails lol (well I kinda suck in general but improving) Was that the first time you've done that?
  15. Lol. Yeah I didnt mean that in a literal sense I just wanted to undetstand his thinking and why he wants that setup. My advice is not to use it, he has said he still will. Just wondering what reasons for not taking the advice imany trials riders here of different skill levels have said... and why you even need to ask about a road stem? Eh. Do what you like buddy. Just have fun!
  16. I'm chilled fully out. Just dont understand why you would want to do that... the guy is saying he wont drop 10cm on rigid forks.... im gunna leave this topic well alone I think, confusing me, and I seem to be annoying you..
  17. I was just thinking; Pagani (Zonda) the car company has started using corbotanium so there must be an advantage.. but yeah its expensive (800grand should get you a carbotanium pagani)
  18. Please please upload a picture of the bike... I thi k we would all love to see it...
  19. Would corbotanium be a good material to produce a bike from. Titanium wraped in carbon fibre. Sounds sexy anyway.
  20. Came a bit loose again yesterday when I was out. Now im worried about stripping the threads or snapping the head off the bolt? Its an echo crankbolt that has a allen socket all the way through. So if I do break it it will still come out wont I it?
  21. What has suspension got to do with dropping 10cm... your doing it all wrong... my entire frame weighs less than those suspension forks. I think you have serious mental retardation . You should land on the back, you can do it without a front wheel... so suspension is useless.. And yeah, motorcycle trials bikes have suspension. ... but yours isnt a motorcycle. ..
  22. You cant use helium in a bicycle tyre as it leaks through the inner tube. And tests show it to make hardly any difference in weight as compared with air. Having suspension and then descussing the weight of your stem is about the dumbest thing iv ever known... do you see any trials bikes with suspension? If you think its helping in some way , it isnt... You could run a cast iron stem and still be lighter if you get some proper forks.. or just buy a trials bike... or if you're a troll'a'lol then FU...
