  1. to the usual question of "where's ur seat" i tend to now reply "your mum borrowed it to go f**k herself with" when running maggies people used to annoy me intensely by tellin me to "oil my brakes" yes because putting a lubricant on a braking surface works well 100% of the time. best one ever though was "why do you do this stuff its f**cking stupid" said to me by some chav about 18/19 years old bottle of white star cider in hand. so i told him "for the adrenaline rush"............now this is the funny/disturbing bit..........he told me "ur an idiot you get the same rush of pills, without all the risks" (to make this more chav like insert random expletives, inits and mans where appropriate and where not appropriate to make it unintelligable)
  2. the way the rotor is i have tried the number 5 caliper which would be a standard 140 rotor, trouble is the mount has no recess for the smaller caliper to sit in and requires the number 3 due to its longer legs. cant cut any of the mount away because it is too close to the welds and well would look horrendous. i would be scared running a front rotor any bigger than that, 180 is perhaps as powerful as it need be. i was fine with a 160. and yes i wish i could still be on the pashley, it was the nicest bike i have ever had, rode like a dream and was in fact my dream bike, wanted one ever since seeing it at bike show a few years ago (2002???). i'm gettin more and more used to it, having to totally change my riding style now, taps are a must, i never tapped on the pashley, too short. natural is so much fun, the discs work amazing on the rocks and the bb rise seems to make the bike float around the rocks. as for street, well i always find street boring but its right enough oh.......uber big scratch on the down tube now
  3. how surprising an arguement about deng made bikes i didnt get the blue because it was a bit bright, hadnt seen any of these and grey seems to keep a low profile and sits well with the black and silver component mix.
  4. well after 3 years of abuse and neglect, and the occasional ride my pashley finally croaked its last and cracked in the un-nerving place of "right int he middle of my top tube" fortunately it happened just after pay day so i splashed out on the little beauty below. dont know of many other simtra ST1s about. if i could find a tape measure i would give u WB but as it stands its uber long (pashley was 1040) and about as responsive as a boat. everything pretty much swapped over but here is a quick spec: Simtra ST1 Echo Hifi Forks (new) hope stem (90/10) easton EA70 bars hope headset Middleburns (175's) dmr v8's 20:17 ratio front wheel: mavic EX721 on hope XC, tryall tyre rear wheel: alex dx32 on hope pro2t, tryall trye brakes: F - hope mono trial 180, R: mono trial 200mm dinner plate rotor ride really nice, very very different to what im used to and all i seem to want to do/am able to do is sidehop. most annoying thing is the power of the rear brake - its too powerful but it is impossible to run a smaller rotor. the bike is very at home on natural terrain and thats where i intend to ride it the most. comments welcome.
  5. this looks like it could be a very fun place to ride, ill take it that its only goin to be available for comp use? or would we be allowed to turn up on a weekend for a play?
  6. doing the funny colour thing with me too, as with all other quicktime vids i download these days any suggestions? tried re installing but no difference really wanna see this vid
  7. he was arrested for driving without due care and attention, im sorry but i wouldnt drive one of them without due care bet the astra he smashed into was barely scratched, like when rowan atkinson hit a rover metro with his mclaren f1. bugatti should take it off him and give it to someone more careful and deserving, like me, and i wouldnt even complain at the colour
  8. and some how i manage to do better than addingham john next event is in the bahamas?? ill be there. roll on the summer months hey lads, massive well done to eevryone who finished, was silly slippy, cold and nasty, other than that it was like being a big kid again i ended up covered in mud head to toe and nursing bumps and cuts afterwards. hands up who wished they had dual disc?
  9. and i said i would work for what reason???? oh yeah time and half, think i might just sack it off and see u all there
  10. thats one way to uber abuse sheffield!
  11. amazing site speedy downloads etc etc however when downloading a vid the other day a banner add at the side was well to put it modestly, rather pornographic. i know loads of youngsters will go on there, but theres probs nowt that can be done about it. i dunno whats best either, avoid using it/upload a <18 yr old youtube link aswell, or just generally not open the page if ur parents are in room? :$ it may have just been me this happened to, but i jsut dont want kids gettin caught out there thats my good deed for the day
  12. the man speaks sense. howies is not a rip off, i have tshirts 4-5 years old and they have not shrunk, the pattern has not cracked and fallen off, nothing else i have ever owned has been like that. just because timberland own howies doesnt mean that everything will change for the worse VW own bought skoda a few years back...
  13. your neighbours have roses in bloom this time of year???? take them all and sell em for £3, under cut the market and make a tidy profit to spend on said lady friend
  14. jim ur videos are always amazing and this was no exception!! really innovative angles and edits, so much effort goes into the production of the vids its amazing u have time to ride! how does the monty ride, ive been contemplating a change?? however, just one thing how much did you have to pay woody to get a cameo appearance and further to that did he actually bunny hop up that wall or was i imagining that, ive never seen him get up anything with a bunny hop?? he has become somewhat elusive recently top vid jim, lets get a sheffield ride goin!!!
  15. sounds like you got some lazy pistons or a screwed seal, if oil is coming fromt here its prob on ur disc, thats why it wont work if you can do it yourself, bleed it, get the pistons as out as they can be without falling out and clean and lube them using silicon lube (NB remove pads). this should work or take it to LBS and get them to do it for u. if it needs seals or pistons they will be able to sort this. ask them for a quote first as they may try to rip u off (since they assume u know nothing about brakes and so will pull the "expert" line lol bleed should be c. £10-12 lube c.£1 (if they charge at all) and seals can be a bit pricey say bout £5 at most (these figures are off top of me head) labour may be more than just a bleed if seals need replacing. or ring.email hope see what they suggest it is, be specific and they will prob diagnose it straight away
  16. hold your brake on, push the bike forward (or back if your prefer ) does it sound really nasty (hard sound to describe) almost a groan, slightly tinny if thats the case pads are probs contaminated, the sounds is caused by the disc slipping through the pads and is very distinctive just hard to describe. the brake does "work" but really should (its amazing how many people dont know their pads are ruined) hope this helps a little sorry im a bit vague
  17. sounds advice from someone with the worst brake set up i have ever seen!!! bleed the brake, face your mounts, and generally just set the brake up again
  18. car dent - silly indeed riding on ruins as they seem to be is purely irresponsible. yes castle walls were meant to withstand cannon blasts but its the heritage that ur riding all over. you are a good rider by the looks of things but seriously, use your head more when it comes to finding new lines i do agree with pretty much every rant thats been had so far, its good to see respectful riders about
  19. legend, love that thinking! just ride for the fun factor
  20. getting used to, ha! its like you've been riding that for ages!!! in the words of andrew titley "he's just made us all look s*** now" hows it goin these days neil, been a while since ive seen u about?
  21. man am i tried!!!! first comp and i dont think i could have ridden any worse!! shameful performance but im stil goin next time, that beginner route is looking inviting though!! oh and a massive THANK YOU to whoever found my car keys, i would still be there now if you didnt hand them in. mental note to self zip pockets! everyone did a top job organising and observing etc, ran very smoothy thanks very much.
  22. seen as though ash is lazy here are some pics of his shiney new bike, and i guarantee it will be this shiney in 3 years time!! quick spec Monty 231ti frame WB1075, CS 390, BB +20mm Monty Forks Monty White bars and foam grips Monty stem Echo Cranks Monty BB Custom Ti cage pedals (with "ASH" cut into them) Custom Ti Bash ring 16t chainring 13t sprocket Hope mono trials 07 (180f 160r) Revel rims handbuilt on hope pro2ts (07 models) maxxis tyres (minion rear dynomite front) rides very nicely. many thanks go out to cleanbikes.co.uk, especially barbara and chris, and hope technology (and matthew for uploading all this). and finally in all its glory and natural habitat...... drive side non-drive and being ridden
  23. that first crash looks so harsh, as does mr tarts!! funny video though, dont know why crashes kinda make me giggle from time to time
  24. thanks to rick derby for the photos, all 105 of them here are some of the better ones me, gettin up a slippy rock from this...^.....to this...v... front to back wheel, wall was kinda slippy old skool X-Up woohoooo Gap to back wheel sidehop to this position and now for some of the other riders Cheesy mr matt rushton Rushy Droping off the smoothest this gap was done all night Double drop (ish) another smooth gap to front wheel - the order of the night for mr rushton Tap to backwheel by Adam Sharples Sidehop, not sure if this was landed or not??? Front wheel was on lower section of wall, static pull to backwheel, beastly! sidehop gap.... ...to back wheel sidehop, to round topped slippy wall Hudson, silly boy, no front brake, nice sidehop though Gap to back wheel? cant remember gappage, minus a front brake tap to back wheel front to back gap, usually done with the use of a front brake Josh, smooth gap to front needless to say i was the only one not to make this gap! and finally for the benefit of our camera man for the evening, two random birds who he took a liking to, cant see why???? comments welcome please guys
