  1. I don't think weight is an issue, so long as you are strong enough to carry that weight, it's more about correct technique which is about correct practice. I heard one guy on here say trials doesn't get you fit but you you need to be fit for trials. I think over time I've come to agree with that statement, an exercise regime focused on leg and core strength with plenty of flexibility thrown in will certainly benefit you. There is no right or wrong bike to ride, it's all about personal pref really and with practice you should be able to pull big stuff on your mod, however, may be worth checking out a few other bikes such as a 24 Street, you might find them a bit easier to ride. Personally speaking I find competition style bikes such as mods less intuitive to ride as I come from a Motorcross and mountain biking background. It's took owning a few bikes to come to that conclusion though and now only have one that I am comfortable with. If honest it sounds like you are making good progress if you can do all the stuff you mentioned above after 2 months so just keep plugging away at it dude.
  2. Personally speaking I have the hopes on my Fourplay, I can't complain at them so unsure about the review you read on them. I haven't ridden an arcade but understand it is basically a big bmx, might find this is more you style but don't discount the Fourplay. I opted for the Fourplay over the arcade in the end purely over weight as the arcade was about 1kg heavier. Both bikes are good responsive solid bikes though.
  3. Just built one 2, also didn't use the long board underneath or the outrigger. Mine is a bit shit though, didn't have the right material lying around as was being a bit of a tight arse so bodged together what I could. Will give it a go and if it falls apart may have to do a proper job....!
  4. Maybe build one of these? I'm crap at manuals and need to sort it out, going to give building one of these a go today, let you know how I get on....
  5. Excellent news, your website has been a top resource getting into trials, if you could do lots of slow Mo vids for any new footage you are filming I always find that useful as you can see exactly what you are doing and break the technique down, if you added commentary over that too think you will have it made.
  6. The hope brakes are good as an upgrade, have them on my bike. If you pair them with a decent rotor and pads they give good performance if you can afford them. Personally I would get the best spec bike you can afford, in the long run this is usually the cheapest option in my opinion as saves you the upgrade costs and resultant used spare parts kicking around down the line.
  7. From memory on mine it was either a 2mm or 1.5mm hex key, mine was a MK4 but can't see them changing that between marks.
  8. Cool spot, looks like alot of fun.
  9. You can see the rocks on Google maps, search glen road, Bradford. They are opposite a place called bracken hall countryside centre.
  10. So, thought this was good, surprised no one has posted already. Track is good too.
  11. Dude, I did that the other week trying to ride a manual without covering the back brake! Proper hurt!
  12. I'd be up for a session on the bikes when you get this way. Let me know.
  13. I might give it a go at some point, you had the 2012 Fourplay though didn't you? Had quite a low front end was my understanding? The new four play front end is really high but noticed duncan Shaw and Fabio wibmer still have the arcade bars on, is it necessary?
  14. Presumably you mean not having the arcade bars? Front end is high enough for me at the moment if so, just adjusting to new geo, feels really nice.
  15. New fourplay in black is quite nice.
  16. There is a few of us up this way, could do with getting a group ride sorted really. Personally speaking I'm down in Manchester.
  17. Getting there then dude. Small steps is what it is all about, did some fun Street trials stuff on my MTB last weekend, mostly because i punctured my last tube for my inspired, but it was stuff I probably would not have considered a year ago on an MTB, one thing feeds into another and makes you an all round better rider. If bunny hopping an MTB is your aim then yeah, get comfortable with at least a short manual and take it from there.
  18. Oh, and you wouldn't believe the amount of search hits I have had on Google for tractor tyres when searching 24 inch dual ply..... Seems this is a popular farm yard choice.... Who knew...!?
  19. To be fair Rich, that tyre of yours is bald as f**k, there ain't no rolling resistance on that! That said, it don't stop you throwing your hex around.
  20. Yeah, but can I find dual ply tyres in 24 inch!? Asked local BMX shop to search for Odyssey aitkins for me in 24 inch. Nothing. Think I might have to reinforce the tyres the old fashioned way by putting an old cut up tyre inside the new one. Got to be better than punctures all the time, might be able to run at a lower psi too and get more response out of the tyre when hopping.
  21. Oh, has anyone got any experience with the schwalbe crazy bob's? Found them in 24 inch by 2.35 inch. Seem ok but looks can be deceiving.
  22. Are the continental heavy? Looking at the tubes Dman posted above and what topsy says above, downhill tubes are just under 0.5 kilo a tube (how thick are those things!? I bet I could ride them without a tyre!) If the continental were say 0.5 kilo a tyre I'd really be starting to jack up the weight of the bike. I may try new tyres first then change tubes if still getting punctures. Still not sure on the continental tyres yet, want to see if I can find any Odyssey tyres and compare the two before buying.....
