  1. I can never quite manage to do much trialsey stuff on my full suss, the shocks just rob all movement out of the bike. What do you do in terms of compression and rebound damping? Do you have high compression damping and fast rebound? Presume tyre pressure is up high too?
  2. Thats a good vid, hadn't seen it before, thanks for posting again!

That was f**king brilliant. Personnally like the fact the bails have been left in to show the real side of thing. Awesome stuff.
  4. Ha! Will do, but if i see the queen i might leg it!
  5. Proper funny that. Nice to see other folks having so many attempts at stuff too. Went and checked out that Burrs park on weekend btw, is proper good area for trials, just need to get my bike up there now!
  6. Heard rumours of people on 24 inch frames doing comps but never seen. I personally ride a 24 inch echo trials and find it alot of fun, wanted bit more manouverabilty and something easier to learn on but didnt want a 20 inch. It may best best getting what you are used to though (mod), getting back into it and building confidence etc and going from there. If you end up with more than one bike so what. By the way, 28 aint old dude!

Yeah, pretty lucky, coulda been a lot worse looping out like that from so high up, good to hear you didn't miss the demo, your missus is getting a lot of work out of that fourplay. I didn't realise the BB was so low on the fourplay, +10mm did you say? Whats the arcade? +25mm? I've just got an element but I read somewhere (probably on here) its the old fourplay frame without rear disk. Was thinking of upgrading to a fourplay pro mostly for the disks and some better geo but if the fourplay is essentially the same geo as the element I have then I may keep looking at the options available. How come you didn't try the skye? Thought that was the dogs bollocks alloy frame inspired bike?

Ow! Vlog 15, that was a BIG fall! Hope you are alright dude. Whats the idea with swapping to the fourplay anyway? Most folks find something that works then stick with it, or is this a case of never know till you try?
  9. Awesome gap at 0.54, I'd be bricking it up there.
  10. Trials heaven that place fella.
  11. @niconj yeah, use trash zen all the time. Bit of a go to place for me when trying stuff. I find i sometimes need things explained in different way though if first explanation doesnt go in. @DK. nice one, will think on re offer. Ive just got back on bike after an injury but my usual riding buddy in the meantime has sprained his ankle so temporarily without someone to learn off. If you are up manchester way then likewise give us a shout. Little beyond tapping up on to things at the moment though but certainly going to nail up to fronts now i know where im going with them!
  12. @Dman nice. Some big hops there, those blocks in ancoats are spaced pretty far apart. No fu@king way could i do them.

  14. I think i understand what im doing wrong, @DK. that vid was really handy, just watched it about 30 times and he does get hips close to the bars with a much more vertical spine than what im doing. Just been messing round with it in back garden and feels a bit better though did go right over the bars in first attempt, way to much hip movement! Luckily my cat like ninja reflexes resulted in just pride being dented rather than my face! Ive been well wary of doing a face plant like niconj did in an earlier vid on this post. See how i get on tomorrow. Cheers guys.
  15. Do you draw your hips close to the handle bars when you are going into an endo? Been pitching forward into an endo but keeping my hips back and more trying to get body over the handle bars. I think this is why i asked the question do you need to be able to front wheel hop as thats the position ive been trying to get into for the wheel swap. Ive been trying to push up from there and throw the bike forward but its not happening. Should i be trying to keep my spine vertical?
  16. Got questions on the front to back wheel swap, how much of your arms are you using? By this i mean when you are on the front wheel approaching tipping point and release the front brake, should you be pushing up to lift the front wheel off the floor to get any height? Im thinking almost like a press up where you would allow your hands to leave the ground momentarily. Ive tried thinking bottom of a circle like herbert lemon mentions above but its not getting me far enough. I reckon my back wheel is landing about half a bike length short of the front wheel (at best) and front wheel is barely coming up despite trying to get weight back over rear hub. Also, do you need to be able to front wheel hop to pull off the wheel swap successfully? How high should back wheel lift as ive noticed riders like Ali C dont lift it that far but still manage the swap so think im missing something. One last thing, Is it easier to learn on a street trials high front end bike or a pogo stick which feels lower and longer? Sorry for the long list but this is doing my fu@king head in!
  17. I'd personally get new rotors if they are as bad as you describe. They may actually be weakened and worst case could break/fail under braking load. I personnaly prefer rock solid brakes on my trials bike, want to know they wont slip if im balancing on something dodgy.
  18. Oh, ogwen valley on the A5, near the base of tryffan, there are some convenient car parks with some pretty good scree slopes. Often thought they'd be great for trials when I've been climbing there. Which part of snowdonia are you btw?
  19. Alright Pete, just turned 40 myself so guess i class myself as a older rider these days (not quite sure how that happened...). I fu@ked my back doing a rolling pedal up onto a ledge about 6 weeks ago, been off the bike since while a get strength and flexibilty back. I was ill the week before and spent a week in bed, didnt realise how much my back had tightened while i was recuperating and i blame that on the back injury. What i did was over extend my back as i tried to tuck the bike up in front of me to land my back wheel, unbelievably painful. What ooo says is good advice in my mind, put big emphasis on flexibilty in your training now so its there when you are ready for bigger moves, make sure you can comfortably touch your toes while your legs are straight, lower back rotation is needed for a lot of things in trials imo. As for locations, see some guys riding street in rhos on sea and llandudno. Pure trials, what about ogwen pass near llyn idwal or llanberis pass? Should imagine you'd be spoilt for choice in snowdonia?
  20. @CC12345678910 thats an epic post man, gonna check some of them spots myself and only in Manchester! Nice one.
  21. Mmm... be out tomorrow Manchester way, cant do sunday. Another time.
  22. That sucks, i was gonna say pop over manchester and have a go of my bikes to see if helped you make your mind up! Back hops are def easier on pure trials bikes, you'll prob progress quick on that onza with a bit of perseverance.
  23. Unless you can get a go of a few bikes think you should take the plunge with something you think will suit you and give it a go. I like you have come at bike trials quite late but after a life of riding bmx and dirt jumps in the 80's, motor cross through the 90's, then mtb and now trials. Ive found if you are used to being on 2 wheels you'll take to it. Personally i ride a 24inch echo trials bike but also have a 24 inch inspired. Wanted something smaller than my mtb but not as small as a 20inch and i find 24inch works for me. Had a go of a mates 26 inch and i find i can ride that too to be honest. Where are you based?
  24. Got your bike sorted out then? Nice one with the shout, think you might have the weather tomorrow, cant see me being available but if things change will let you know.
