I’ve seen some posts on various forums regarding the compatibility of BMX levers with cable disc brakes - non of which seem all that conclusive so I’m hoping some of you may be able to help me out... I have a MTB avid BB5 calliper up front with a MTB avid lever. Works exactly as I want it to, good modulation and just the right amount of bite. Pictures below to show the versions I have: However in a quest to make the bike look a bit more like a mid 90s BMX I’ve began polishing the bare metal rear magura and thought I would do the same for the front lever, when I stumbled across this which would save an awful lot of time and effort: My question (due to concerns raised on other forums) - will the BMX lever have enough movement to operate the calliper effectively? I’ve read that some BMX levers are only suited to cantilever brakes etc that don’t require as much cable actuation as a V-brake or a cable disc (with the exception of roadie versions). Thank you in advance for any advice offered up.

So having picked up a another project frame and fork I’ve decided to do something a bit different with the rear brake. I have a few a few sets of old battered maguras kicking around, thought about painting them... but found with a lot of work they polish up quite nice! I managed to get the ridge where the cylinder is joined sanded out too. Not finished yet but already starting to shine put a good few hours in so far, and only the lever and one cylinder done, the front lever body was a practice, this will be a rear brake. Should look pretty swish on the bike when it’s done.

My new (to me) Inspired Fourplay Team (2019)

Looks a nice bike, cool pics too! yes the bolts will definitely not be as grippy as the proper pins. I’d suggest getting the grub screw alternatives: https://www.tartybikes.co.uk/pedal_spares/tartybikes_inspired_pedal_pins/c151p12914.html -

BETD bike components may be able to sort you out with a replacement, check out their website. They custom make just about all mech hangers and have a huge stock - better quality than originals too: https://www.mountainbikecomponents.co.uk/ -
Lovely build... if you are still after a DCD there is a red one on eBay at the moment: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363083019223

Replacement rotors and pads for Inspired Fourplay? Brakes slipping.
Private Repress replied to Rip's topic in Trials Chat
Hi mate, it may be worth trying the following which worked for me: 1.) put the rotors and pads through a dishwasher with a dishwasher tablet on the hottest setting (mine is 65 degrees) 2.) hold the pads over a flame to burn off any remaining contaminants, not for too long as depending on the compound they may start to crystallise. 3.) slightly rub the pad surface with sandpaper to remove the top coat of the pad (you’ll notice a colour change). If that doesn’t help, then trial tech pads and magura rotors work a treat. good luck -
Haha, can’t beat an x-up!

Crank arm length... for street trials...

Nemesis paint stripper from screwfix has worked well for me, I’ve stripped the paint of some wheel rims and a set of forks: -
This is a really interesting read! Great to see all the pictures too. You’ve got through some bikes for sure! I would love to try a Norco out, but never actually seen one in the flesh. My first bike that I learnt the trials basics on had suspension forks and I’ve had the desire to build an ‘all rounder’ with such ever since. With the lack of trials specific suspension designed frames it might be a case of working something out with Marino m. The GU with the front magura made me laugh... sticking with a front disc forever haha. Lots of love for that Zebdi! Recently built one up and it’s great fun.

I had a bit of spare time this evening, so decided to mess around on Forza Horizon 4. Ended up taking some inspiration from my Planet X Zebdi for a paint job on a drift car. Far from perfect but kept me entertained for a little while haha... The car: The bike: Any one else play FH4?

Awesome! Love the last move - drop/wall ride thing!

Haha I’ve just mentioned to my girlfriend about nipping over to LA from England to save money buying a bike part and she’s up for the idea haha! I bet the riding out there is incredible

Nice build, out of curiosity what tools did you use to face the mounts? I need to do it on one of my bikes but the tools I’ve seen a hellishly expensive!

I went with plazmatic pads and they do not disappoint! Thanks for the advice

This is mint mate, we should get out for a ride? You driving yet?

Hi all, looking for a low profile seat (on rails) and a seat post that positions the seat nice and low. Tired of searching eBay for second hand stuff so wondering if anyone knows of any of the modern bits that would look okay on this:

As the title suggests, I’m after a good set of pads front and rear for smooth rims. Got a mavic up front and a Onza full fat on the rear. I’m sure this has been covered over before but struggling to find anything with the TF search engine. Ideally something that doesn’t make a lot of noise, but has plenty of bite.

Think I may have seen the same one, it must make the bike feel like a micro scooter. I suppose that’s okay if all you want to do is manual with the front wheel two inches off the ground. -

Stem and seat angle the same as the top tube angle always looks good in my opinion
