  1. I heard people download that from places like thepiratebay.org, not sure if that would work for you...
  2. Nope, the wg111 is a usb wifi reciever. Hence him having it in access point mode is wrong. Basically what he's doing is sharing his current LAN connection (which is already plugged in via ethernet cables) over wireless. I think. I haven't had to work with wireless under Windows, though, so I might be wrong too.

I'm a tard then Meh, it wasn't my PC...
  4. In the first picture, why is the mode set as access point? That could be your problem.

I think you could happily use a Mac for years, clicking "open" on any email attachment you got, browsing all sorts of nasty porn sites and downloading all the warez you want, and NEVER have any trouble with viruses. That's the difference. Whether or not a virus exists somewhere in cyberspace is moot, because it's not a real danger. There's about 20 viruses for OS X, all pretty harmless, whereas there's hundreds of thousands for the PC. True story. I gave my housemate a virus (But shh, he doesn't know) by going on ONE crack site in IE. I didn't open anything at all, or click install on anything. If that ain't shit, what is? I would run Linux if it was as easy to set up as Windows, and all my peripherals worked. Unfortunately, the last foray I had into Linux (A year ago, ish, with Mandrake) was a bit rubbish. I spent days trying to get my mouse to work properly, then I gave up and went back to Windows.

Well, as promised I've installed Windows MCE. And... It's good. It is basically just XP with a Media Program. Although it's supposed to be fussy with hardware, it worked fine with my TV tuner, remote and everything else. The only problem I had was finding an MPEG-2 decoder (Who knew you would need one of those ), but I managed that and everything is working fine. I like it. OS X is ten times better though, it's just sooooo much more stable. I've only been running this Windows for about 2 hours, and already I've had 5 "fits" where the computer just does its own thing for about a minute. Gotta love Windows. Anyway, I vote for MCE

Well, XP with service pack 2 isn't any better than XP, as you can (and should) download SP2 for free from microsoft.com. The Price difference is probably because XP MCE is basically XP home, whereas XP Pro is a lot more expensive. But there's not that much reason to go for XP Pro, unless you know of anything specific that's in Pro that you need. So I don't really see the point in paying extra for XP Pro over MCE, just get that f it's the cheapest I'm gonna install MCE this week sometime hopefully. If you can wait until then I'll tell you the differences, but I'm sure you could google that stuff anyway. P.S. Most places will make you buy some "major" component in order to qualify for an OEM version. Although I did hear some places were just requiring you to tick a box saying you would install into a brand new PC. I can't remember where though, sorry. EDIT: Vista ain't gonna be out for a while, and will probably need a decent spec so it doesn't run like Stephen Hawking. Plus it'll probably be buggy as hell for the first few months, I'd go XP

Just get XP. I have no idea if you'll be able to continue using the beta after the final release (although I suspect not), but the beta is not a final version and I'm sure it has plenty of bugs etc, and I'm not convinced it's really going to be useable as a day-to-day operating system. MCE is basically just the same as XP, except it's a bit fussy with drivers. So unless you need the Media Centre functions, I wouldn't bother with it.
  9. Go here, enter your surname. Then click on the geographical location thing (at the top in the green bar) for a full run- down. Amongst other stuff, there is "% of people with a more high-status name".
  10. Only 14% of the country has a more common name than me (Nelson) I'm going nowhere in life!
  11. I think it's pretty stupid to do it on weight-saving grounds, as you'll save approx f**k all grams, and it's not as strong as normal (3x) lacing. It breaks hub flanges, too. So I guess mostly people do it for pimp value, which I guess is up to them. I wouldn't do it, but meh.
  12. Wow, haha. I like! No one has really made a short frame with BB rise. Perhaps you're onto something. If not, well done for trying at least. EDIT: This thread was well worthy of my four thousandth post
  13. I'm on the student 19 and I think I get 500 texts and 50 mins for £19. Unfortunately 50 minutes isn't really enough for me, and I always go over. But then again I don't text THAT much, so maybe it'll do you well
  14. I'm not convinced that widescreen looks nicer for trials videos. But I guess if most people have widescreen, then you might as well fill it For the record - Our Widescreen tele broke so 4:3 here
  15. 60 degrees really isn't that hot, and certainly not hot enough to cause any damage. If your computer is set to turn off at 60 degrees, then that setting is wrong. You won't cause any damage until 90+ degrees. The air that's coming out of the back of the PC, how hot is it? There's no such thing as too cold really
  16. Or for ghetto cheap fix it - Turn the Monty upsidedown.
  17. The forum doesn't recognise it, it just comes up as a question mark --> ? I would have thought your PC should have it somewhere, whip open character palate or insert--> Symbol in Word.
  18. I don't think I've ever seen any bike part that looks that desirable. I didn't need any new pedals before, but now I want some!
  19. Teehee That's from Wikipedia (here) so it must be true.

    Dream Frame

There's no real excuse to buy something like that if you ask me. You can spend £24 more and get a T-Rex which is a decent up-to-date frame, or £50 more will get you a Pure. If you go second hand, you can probably get either of those frames I mentioned for £100 ish. So no, don't get it.

    Bye Bye!

Wow, lots of injuries on TF at the moment. Good luck, have fun with all the 50 year old ugly nurses and TV you have to pay for
  24. I don't think there will be any problems, as far as I know, with broadband, you don't have to use their software. Although you might need the login information etc. I think
