Fair enough, didn't know that. In other news - I just installed the iPlayer plugin so that works too
  2. Tim Steadman (he tests for Pashley) was saying how he preferred it on the right. Not only is it on the 'other' side (which doesn't really make much difference), it's also on the top of the fork so it's harder to bash the caliper. He also reckoned the braking felt more positive or something, I don't know about that.

Hmm, apparently it can work with my network drive, but not via 'normal' file sharing (SMB) so I would have to install some extra stuff on my drive which is really hard 'cos it runs off Linux and is therefore a real pain in the arse. So yeah you're right, it can be done. But it still wouldn't play half my files Yeah, you have to have a single folder for each individual TV show.

Did you set the content to be 'TV Shows' rather than movies? Also there's an option to scan folders recursively which I believe is enabled by default for TV shows. The other thing that can be a problem is if your file naming conventions aren't quite right. You have to have a separate folder for each TV show and make sure that all the file names contain the name of the program, and the season / episode number. Slightly annoyingly it doesn't understand folder hierarchies properly (there are ways to make it recognise this but I found it easier just to rename the files) E.g. Tv/The Simpsons/Season 5/episode 1.avi won't work (because the file name doesn't have the TV show name, or the season number) Tv/The Simpsons/Season 5/Simpsons - S05E01.avi will work Tv/The Simpsons/Simpsons - S05E01.avi will work Tv/The Simpsons/Simpsons - 0501.avi will work The streaming from a 360 is rubbish by comparison. Firstly, you HAVE to have a windows MCE/Vista PC on all the time and secondly it's really fussy about file formats, hardly anything I own will play properly. I just gave up and I'm using the old xbox for everything still.

Yeah, normal PAL widescreen resolution is something like 720x576 so your video files are pretty much the right size anyway. Also, CRTs are good at scaling up to the correct resolution anyway, much better than LCDs. My XBMC gets used at least 2-3 times a day (by me and housemates).

Actually, just read the previous two topics where I ranted about how brilliant XBMC is, and how I installed it: Recent-ish topic: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....howtopic=101161 Old, basic topic: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=55175

That's the ideal setup. Like you, I already had the network set up with a bunch of files, so you only need to add the xbox. Yup, it just plugs in via an ethernet cable - or I suppose you could use a wireless bridge if you didn't want to use cables. But my computer doesn't stream everything perfectly on wifi, so cables definitely preferable anyway. You don't need the remote but it works really well, saves having cables running across the floor. One cool thing about XBMC is that it allows you to play DVDs without buying the remote. To be honest I never use the xbox for games any more so I only ever use the remote on XBMC. I think I bought the remote for about £5 second hand, definitely worth it. To install it, unfortunately it's not just sticking a CD in the drive. It's not too hard though There are at least two ways - modchips and softmods. I've used modchips on two xboxes and it works well, but you have to take the xbox apart and do some soldering. The chips are around £15-20 from HERE (the cheap one is fine). The other option is to softmod it which I don't know too much about, but that's what Fishfingerer is talking about - it's to do with exploiting a game save. This is better because you don't have to open the xbox or do any soldering, but you can 'brick' the xbox whilst doing it (If you brick it, I'm fairly sure you can buy a modchip and recover it). Then once you've done the chip/softmod, you need to install XBMC onto the xbox's hard drive. I suppose you might be able to run it from a disk but that's a bit silly really. When I did it, you had to install it over FTP - I.e. from your computer you can log into the xbox and copy files over to it. But you can probably get install discs that will do this for you, google it? Yeah, you have to enable the library if you've not already done that. Then in files view you need to 'set content' - I.e. tell the library which directories to scan. Then when you update the library it should sort them and download everything

Just thought I should get this off my chest. I've been using Xbox Media Centre (XBMC) on my old xbox 1 for a number of years now, and it really is brilliant. I've got hundreds of films and TV programs on my (network) external hard drive and I can play them over the network onto my TV downstairs which is brilliant in itself. Anyway, I just updated to the latest version because it will do icons for my TV shows and generally looked a bit neater. So I enabled the library and it set to downloading all the icons for the TV shows. After about half an hour, I wondered why it was taking so long so download a handful of icons. But then it finishes doing its stuff, and it's downloaded all the icons as expected. But it also sorted all my files into Program/Season/Episode order, and downloaded an icon for the program itself, the season DVD cover. It also downloads the episode description and picture for every single episode of all my TV programs. All automatically. Oh, and it did the same for all my films, too. f**king amazing program. XBMC is available for PC, Mac, Linux, iTV and xbox HERE. Other media players are available.
  10. Yeah, my mate had some of them on his Bullit. He liked them, but I never rode it so can't comment. That's a fairly good price though, but I wouldn't go too high.
  11. It's not so much about running out of travel (buy harder springs?) it's the fact that the front end will be low, and the head angle much steeper than it's supposed to be. That means it'll handle like shit for going downhill. Putting some 66s (and a shorter stem) on will make all the difference. You can get 66s for under £100 occasionally.
  12. I heard a 'fact' the other day: If Bill Gates were to avoid the credit crunch by withdrawing his money (in $10 bills) and keeping it under his bed, it would be so high that if he fell out of bed in the middle of the night, it would take 20 minutes before he hit the floor. Which, frankly, beats your £7 tower
  13. Yeah, I don't get out of bed for less than 2 million
  14. Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking last night. Weird you should mention it. So true though.
  15. Are you sure they're at the same angle? P.S. lol Dave
  16. Tarty did some designs for that aaaages ago. But I don't think they ever got made because people became obsessed with small bashrings, hacking them up for lightness, not making them heavier
  17. I have, yeah. My d/ls have been going at ~30kbps (which is OK) since I started this topic. I don't know why, though. Haven't changed anything Faster would still be better, if anyone has any ideas?!
  18. I'd definitely spend half of it on this: http://www.moneyweek.com/spending-it/prope...land-14203.aspx For $6 Million? I don't think so. That sort of thing would set you back ~$100 Million
  19. Yeah if you have some Windows security it won't let you install it because it think it's spyware. If you can, click ignore/continue. I don't see that having uTorrent will make a difference. I've just tried uTorrent for the Mac. It seems pretty... clunky. And no faster than Transmission.
  20. Nope, port forwarding is not an issue. I even tried putting my NAS in the DMZ to remove the firewall from the equation. That didn't help. And I know what you mean about DHT, although all the torrents are connected to trackers so I don't think DHT is the answer. Unfortunately Transmission is the only client available for my NAS, anyway. I wouldn't want anything more sophisticated, either - Even Transmission constantly uses 70-80% of the NAS's 200mhz CPU as it is!

That's pretty impressive doing 360 hops on such a long bike. Weird style when he does them though. Cool video
  22. Hi. Thanks for the long reply. Thing is, I'm connecting to good torrents with 50+ seeds and it's only connecting to 14 seeds and only 1 is uploading, and the speed is spiking up and down from 0-8kbps - it never even stays at 8 for more than a second. Surely there is something wrong?! I dunno, it just seems weird. When I d/l stuff from the web, it can go at 400kbps or something. People say you can use torrents as an alternative to web servers and that's fine if you can get the same kind of speeds, and I know that some people can. But mine is 100x slower than a dedicated server which is rubbish. Yeah apparently this is not an issue on Mac/Linux but I seem to remember that made a difference on my old PC.
  23. I am actually on demonoid but I can't seem to get anything to download from there. Maybe I'm doing something wrong though? In fact whilst I'm on the subject, how the hell does Demonoid authenticate its users? Because you can sign into the site and d/l a torrent, but how does the tracker know that you're a member?
