  1. I've got a mech + 2 sprockets + shifting mechanism that takes ~ 5 seconds to shift. I have to be stopped though. I wasn't quite sure whether that counted as being able to change gear or not (I chose yes anyway).
  2. Actually I'm trying to download XBMC and SuSe. And a free Audiobook of On the Origin of Species. And lots of the other interesting free stuff available from http://beta.legaltorrents.com/ Annnnyway, is anyone actually going to help?!
  3. I haven't asked for any serials, or cracks, or illegal software. EDIT: Thanks Haz
  4. No, it's not against the forum rules. EDIT: This is the information Transmission gives me for one of the current torrents (actually going at 8kbps which is pretty fast). The padlock means they know I'm 'interested and choked' which I don't understand.
  5. Right, need some help with torrents. I just never get them working well at all, they always run really slowly. If I have 5-6 torrents going at once, the combined download speed is usually about 4-5kb/s (max 10 ish, min 0). 1) I use my NAS which has Transmission + Clutch installed (pretty basic). Or I can use my laptop which also has Transmission and/or Tomato torrent. Speeds seem pretty similar whatever client I use. When I 'unlimit' the upload speed, that runs at about 70kbps so no problems there. 2) My internet connection is fine, and I've tried on both my own internet and my parents'. Both are 2Mb+ connections, one is BT, other is NTL, so in theory I should be able to get at least ~250kbps on either connection. 3) All the ports are forwarded properly on the router, in the 30,000-50,000 range. 4) The torrents are from either mininova or Pirate Bay which tell me there are 40-50 seeds for each torrent. I've tried Demonoid in the past but NONE of their torrents worked. To me, it seems as though I'm just choosing rubbish torrents, but even when I try and download something popular the speeds are always the same as when something has got only 3-4 seeds. It's really infuriating! N.B. I'm sure Rapidshare/whatever is better, but I don't care so please don't tell me. If anyone knows about these things, won't you help a brother out?
  6. Yeah if you could get it for £300 I'd say that's a deal definitely
  7. To be fair, that estimate on the value of the frame was a guess. If it was only a year old, then it would be worth more like £500 but as I'm guessing it's at least 5 years old, it's really pretty old for a freeride bike. Recons are XC forks, maybe you mean Domains? They're like the cheaper version of Totems. There's also Lyriks which are longer travel than Pikes but less than Totems/Domains.
  8. Hmmm, difficult one. Bullitts are really nice bikes, very fun. A mate of mine has just got a brand new one that looks awesome. But that one looks really old - I'm not sure when they started making them but it could be as old as 02 or something. If you were to buy that frame-only these days it would probably fetch maybe ~£250 assuming no cracks and a working shock etc. The rest of the stuff on that bike is nearly worthless IMO. None of it looks desperately bad, apart from maybe the stem (which is way too long for a bike like that) and the forks (which are way too short). You need 150mm forks at least on that bike (so Pikes or 55s - which are both 140mm max I think - would still be a bit short). Something like 150mm 66s would be my choice. Those forks looks like Psylos so they're ~100mm or so I think. And shit NB the older Bullits don't have replaceable mech hangers. They look pretty beefy but since they're still aluminium, you'd be a bit screwed if it broke. I'm not sure if that's actually been any help. I think if you were going to make it into a really awesome bike, you'd need to spend loads of money on it. As it is, it would be pretty OKish, particularly if you swapped the forks and stem.
  9. Well, I do agree that evoking emotions is what art is all about, and that's a good thing. On the other hand, what you appear to be describing which is a situation where you think something that you've done is brilliant and insightful, whereas potentially the only other emotion people are going to experience is anger (that you've sullied their wall), or at best, indifference. I suppose that's the problem with a lot of graffiti - when the people who do it think they are clever or special in some way, and it's just a boring mess on someone's wall.
  10. What caliper is he running at the moment then? And yeah, they do feel a bit mushier than normal brakes, but that's because you're getting more leverage and therefore more power. I suppose the lever feeling is a preference thing - personally I love the modulation you can get out of them (I have ever since the XT V-brakes first came out), but some people seem to hate squishy brakes.
  11. I don't think you quite get what people are saying. It's not just that one frame has slightly bigger wheels. It's a completely different bike, so there is no comparison. I'd have the inspired without a doubt because I love 24" and it's a sweet looking frame. But if you want to ride proper trials or a bit of TGS, then the new Pashley would probably be a better option, although there are probably better frames out there for 'proper' trials. Actually I'm not totally sure what that new Pashley is good for...
  12. I don't know the model number but I presume Tic is talking about the newest XT servo wave discs. They're awesome. I've got the SLX ones which are basically the same but a bit cheaper and I love 'em. Super powerful, very reliable and as near to maintenance-free as you can get. I'm just waiting for someone to try them on a trials bike - I reckon they would be awesome because they've got more bite that Shimano brakes have had in the past, presumably due to the servo-wave goodness.
  13. The problem with graffiti is that 95% of it is totally rubbish and pointless, but the odd bits are quite cool to look at so I don't really mind. If it's interesting and it's in a cool place then I will enjoy it. If it's just your name written in illegible writing on the side of the local primary school, then I'm not interested. That's such a rubbish excuse, whatever it's for. Why not just go and drink cider in a bus stop, and get some teenager pregnant? Then you could blame the government or something.
  14. Just take the old bolt to a hardware shop and say that you need one like this, but 10mm longer. As for the other suggestions, where is the common sense?!
  15. Had to go and see one of my Mum's friends who I don't know so that was a bit boring for a couple of hours. Other than that I don't know where the time's gone - I've basically done nothing all day, which I suppose is good in a way. Dinner was awesome though

    Xmas Presents

I haven't heard of that one, but it looks pretty similar to one that I have used. Is this just an interest you have or is it for university or something?

    Xmas Presents

This thread crops up every year, and the same thing always happens. To save you the bother reading all the posts below, it goes a little something like this: Trialskid91: I got a new Koxx Boxx cos my old one was scratched, a wii, some xbox 360 games, £425, a BMW and 14 acres of Spanish coastline. OldGit-'78: You spoilt brat, when I was your age I got a lump of a coal, which I had to dig out of the ground myself. I ended up with pneumonia from the mining and died as a result but I was happy, dammit. ... etc etc. Ho, ho, ho, Merry Everybody
  18. That's pretty ambiguous you know. What do you mean by 'decent' graphics etc? Unless you have anything you especially want to run, then are you sure you even need good graphics?! A quick look at the Dell website says that even their cheapest proper laptop (£369) has a 160Gb hard drive and 2Gb of RAM which is reasonable. Unless you have any particular brand in mind, I suppose Dell is a decent enough place to start looking?
  19. Every Christmas eve I go to a put that's near here with a few of my friends from school who I never really see any more. It's kind of a tradition for me and pretty much the only time I get to see those people so I'm looking forward to that Other than that, my plans for tomorrow involve Christmas shopping. Shudder.

    BOTI? WOTI? Not here, anyway.
  21. Faith does not require religion - I.e. You can believe in a higher power without following a religion. That's not really what this thread is about, though.
  22. That's right. You have proven how manly you are by saying that. Now GTFO of this thread, eh?
  23. Agreed, that's definitely true - it's the only way that the bible can make sense to logical people. However, my impression of most Christians (or at least, the most vocal ones - like the Pope) is that everything in the bible is taken completely at face value. Which is why people arguing about the exact meaning of words which were written hundreds of years ago and passed on by Chinese whispers (as Dr Nick has pointed out) seems so daft to most people. More to the point though, who really cares what the Catholic church think? They've proved themselves time and time again to be out of touch with reality, I really don't think the Pope deserves any more of our attention.
  24. I really don't think you're the first person to think of that! It's been done, you don't need anything special (except the helium, obviously). But apparently it leaks out much faster than air so you need to refill the tyre every day or so. For the 0.5g (guess) it saves I'm sure it's not worth the hassle!
  25. Is your router working? If the router isn't connecting to the internet properly, you'll get full wifi signal but no internet. Then try the obvious stuff - restarting the router/modem/ipod. Have you ever used the iPod for the internet at home? Is the WEP/WPA or whatever set up properly?
