Travis Pastrana is nuts. There's a DC snowboarding video (I think it's MTN lab 1.5) with him, trying to snowboard. He can't actually do ANY of the basic stuff like turn or control his speed, but he tries a backflip off a pretty big kicker. Idiot
  2. Ha yeah, the other thing that was kind of amusing - I went to park on a steep hill next to my friend's house and (VERY slowly) reversed parked into quite a small space. Handbrake on, engine off, sliding backwards because the back two wheels didn't have enough grip to hold the car! Ended up leaving it in gear, and thankfully by the time I had to leave the snow had melted a bit so I (just) had enough grip to get out.
  3. I had a nightmare drive yesterday morning. Some of the roads round my house are pretty busy but hadn't been gritted. It seems that if loads of cars drive on un-gritted snow, it turns to ice. So I had to drive around 2 miles on sheet ice which was horrible. I was going at 5mph (no joke, I was looking at the speedo) and started to slide off the camber of the road into a parked car. It was like that scene with the bulldozer in Austin Powers - it was happening so slowly but I could really do much at all. I ended up missing the car by a couple of inches. Scary stuff. Yesterday afternoon I drove out into the Peaks and went snowboarding, then rode my XC bike in the snow in the dark. On the tops of the hills there was loads - we were jumping off stuff into waist-deep snow and making snow holes to hide in
  4. I would sort of echo what Mathew62 said - Multi FX pedals can be a bit toss. I had one (Korg AX1000G) and whilst the effects were cool to play around with, the quality of the distortion/ amp modelling was rubbish. It depends what you want it for, whether you're going to play live with it etc. I'd get a Pod because the amp modelling on those seems really good, so you can have endless different sounds, plus a few effects too
  5. Fair enough. Maybe I was being grumpy. Sorry
  6. Why don't you read the thread. The answer is in those news articles which have been posted at least twice...
  7. That's sort of what I was saying though. The actual gassing of Jews wasn't really the worst part of it - It was the fact that a whole nation turned against EVERYONE of a given race. I know what you're saying, and I feel the same - dying to protect a bit of land which has been arbitrarily demarcated is stupid IMO. And I know a lot of the soldiers didn't have much choice in the matter either, but a soldier dying in battle is not the same as killing whole families based on the shape of their nose...
  8. Surely soldiers getting killed attacking another country can't be compared to the indiscriminate slaughter of man, woman and child, purely on the basis of the race they were born into? It doesn't matter what the numbers are, killing people on the basis of something they can't control (I.e. their own race) is utterly wrong. If people had never heard of the holocaust, don't you think it's more likely that a similar event would happen again? History repeats itself. It would be pretty neat if this particular slice of history didn't... The holocaust represents all that was awful about Hitler's rise pre-WW2. It's not just the burning/gassing of millions (that was pretty bad), but the fact that a whole nation allowed it! Ordinary people like you and me got caught up in a whirlwind of hype and actually wanted to see Jews killed. It wasn't just one nutter and a killing spree, far from it. Some history teacher in America did an experiment and in just four days managed to convince a class of high-school students that they were superior to other students in the school. It's worth reading about because it shows how powerful a group mentality can be. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Third_Wave
  9. I've just got back from Austria and there was 23cm of snow in 24 hours there. Unless you can beat that, I'm not interested
  10. You mean it's a site dedicated to piracy...
  11. Please don't post any more links to your website on TF.
  12. Haha, nice one Mark. I quite often ride my road bike with no helmet, or lights, while listening to my iPod. I know I probably shouldn't, but I'm a gangsta. So yeah, I feel sorry for her. Also she's having to have an operation on her knackered shoulder ligaments, which doesn't sound too good. I hope she gets better soon.
  13. That's what I've got, seems good.
  14. If you have horizontal dropouts, I don't see why it wouldn't. On the other hand... why?!
  15. Yeah, she does quite well for herself as well though - she is world champ...
  16. Worse than XP? Or faster? When I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard on my aging (PowerPC) Mac, everything got faster which was nice.
  17. Is it worth trying out Windows 7 on my aging computer, or will it slow things down loads? I'm on XP, and it's an Athlon 64 3200+, 1Gb Ram. Here's my recent one:
  18. Sort of, but if someone suggested that they chop my downtube in two and re-weld it in the middle of the tube, I'd tell them where to go.
  19. Have I missed something? Why does JT care about this?
  20. Yeah, and it wasn't exactly obvious

I've heard that Garmins are the one to go for too. But I've got a Tomtom and that seems to work perfectly well too, so I don't really know. Er... HTH?
  22. Wow, I wasn't expecting that to be as awesome as it was!
