  1. But thats limited by the lentch of the links, which can mean its too short and wont connect or too long. I run a 22-18 and use a gusset tensioner which works quite well tensioning outwards, thats with a KMC Kool.
  2. I've searched but only found one thread along the right lines which came ot no conclusion. I've got an ashton, and a shortish and low echo stem (no idea what size, 100mm x 0 deg?) which makes it a total ass to pop manuals and isnt great on the back wheel. I suck on the back wheel as it is due to my awful stretched arm technique, which i'm trying to change. Also the one spacer thats on there is as much as it can go due to the steerer size. So advice on stems? My knowledge is pretty oldskool (as in an azonic shorty and some DW risers...) so i need some educating on what to get! - preferably £35ish (so no thompsons!) or if you've got anything second hand on offer i'd consider that too. edit: this is how short/low it is: Ta very much. Tom.
  3. Not so sure on the colours and the bend in the top tube, but a very funxtional looking bikes. Do the brake mounts let the maggie slide down for 24"?
  4. I've got an ashton as it is but i'd be well tempted to flog it for a nice white one!
  5. Not watched it yet, but as with 9/11, Diana bumped of by the firm and all the other conspiracy theories... Intelligence agengies are there to protect national interests, if that means stopping a member of royalty marrying a blooming arab or stopping a tyrant develop nuclear arms then thats fine by me. We don't know the facts of the way these things really develop, or how they are going to, this is what intelligence agencies are for, who then act on it. If they didn't you'd see a whole different change in the way we lived. If they find out someones doing something they should be and can't release it, they need to make plausible reasons up that theyre able to release to the public. People might see that as selfish on the part of the US and UK and other large countries, but these are countries which the worlds economy relies on the stability of, so if we descend into chaos and grind to a halt, so does everywhere else.

We were out one winter night, and the copper got out of his car and walked up to us, he said "alright lads, how you doing? Can you tell me one thing you haven't got on your bikes then..?" (obviously meaning lights). Before you can even blink my mate blurted out "Seatbelts?!". Shoulda seen the coppers face

I must admit, the only trouble i've ever had in terms of argumentative 'cops' have been from the PCSO's. Real cops are usually polite and a bit more considerate, and actually show some manners as they usually know you're not some drugged up, theiving, under age pisshead. PCSO's are on some powertrip as they're annoyed they didnt make the grade. When greeted by a PCSO with a gruff "get off your bike" i instantly questioned him and kept asking him the reason (which i later found out was 'cycling on the pavement' - when i was sitting on my bike with my feet on the floor). Whenever other cops show up and say something like 'afternoon lads, you know what i'm gonna say dont you?' I'll say yeah, and usually have a chat then ask where we should go to avoid hassle before going somewhere else.

They can't do you. Riding on the pavement falls under section 72 of the highways act 1835, so as far i can see you must be on a pavement adopted under the highways act. Be aware of public rights of way though, they count as highway.

  15. 1. Which XC tyyres shall i get? I've seen the Maxxis crossmarks and Highroller XC's on CRC at £15 a piece, any good? I mainly ride in dry or damp conditions and it see's a lot of use on tarmac too. 2. does anyone have the 661 or DirtyHabit leather belts that are on CRC? Could you measure from the First hole to the end of the belt (leather bit not the buckle) and same again from the last hole, and let me know what size it is. Odd i know, but cheeeeeeers very much.

    Buying Car Bits

Exactly, Anything that helps me stop is always new. For the price of pads theres no point going to a scrappie for them IMO.

  22. Where is it locked up? I'd phone the old bill, keep an eye one it yourself too. Get the cops to get it off maybe? Im sure theyve got some MOE kit laying about to get the lock off.
  23. Either hire a winch/stand from somewhere, or use the one youve got off a swing or something like bucky said. Do you honestly think you can lift 300kg?

    No Vat On Bikes

Nah theyre already starting to press on matters like this with developers, they just need a bit of encouragement to include them in highway improvement works as opposed to just laying new tarmac.
