Well the reason I'm looking into using it as a pc monitor is because I looked into internet TV's and they're a hell of a lot more money for a bunch of restrictive integrated crap. Ultimately all it would be used for is movies but it would be nice if I could use it for general internet stuff, facebook msn TF etc. Couldn't you just increase the text sise? I think I'm pretty clued up now. Sticking with 1080 / 120htz, probably aim for an LG or Samsung, they seem to have the best reviews. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the info! So can you turn off the 120htz setting if it causes problems? Or would that depend on the tv?

Yeah, the only reason I mentioned them is because I read they're supposed to be better suited if you were going to use it as a computer monitor. Which leads me onto a question I forgot to ask, how does text (this text) look on a 32" say about 8ft away? It it legible?

I'm looking to buy a 32" (ish) tv soon and I'm pretty new too all the new tech as I haven't bought a TV since long before HD first came out. I don't really have a budget as such, looking at around $600 but that's in $'s anyway so it's a little useless to anyone in the UK. I'll be using it for a TV and a computer monitor too using a 20ft HDMI cable. Is it worth getting one with 120htz refresh rate, or sticking with 60htz? 720, 1080 or 1440? LCD or LCD-LED? This'll be the first time I've ever had a hd tv so I don't need to be getting anything super high quality, just something solid that'll last a good while. Any advice would be great thanks!!!

The problem is with people like Damon and NT, even if they had the same kind of quality of filming, editing and producing as Danny Mc does on his videos these days, they still wouldn't take off like his vids do because the riding just isn't as appealing, simple as that. Also, I know it's comparing apples to oranges, but for me personally I consider Danny Mc to be the best trials rider out there bar non. As for the BMX comment. Have you ever watched one of Danny's vids? If he was given a bmx he style would drastically change. His bike is perfectly suited for him. If you watch any of his videos you'll see he does use the trials gearing, he does take advantage of having bigger wheels, he does use his breaks and it's obvious the more trialsy geo of his bike helps him too. Why can't you see that?

Well according to your profile your email address is dbarratt6-at-aol.com? So chances are what has happened is his email address is (for example) dbarratt7@aol.com and he hit the wrong key. Nothing to worry about. Although I would personally call/email the airline and say that he has the wrong email address listed.

If you email address has your surname in there then I wouldn't worry, all that'll have happened is a mistake when entering their email address. If your email address is something random you need to me more concerned.

The first couple were, but the last couple of seasons seemed to no particularity follow any kind of main storyline or anything. It seemed to be doing the same thing as Prison Break and Lost did. Start really strong then just keep on spewing out episodes when it should have been ended while they were ahead.

So replace the parallel section with the 29.15 (round it up to 30). Seing as though the total resistance adds up to 100 and the voltage is 100 the voltage drops over the 30ohm resistor is 30v, and 40v over the 40ohm resistor. Both the resistors on the parallel section both have a v drop of 30v

The only thing I care about is how I think it effects the forum, if people don't see it the way I see it then fair enough and I'll put it down to me over thinking things. But like you said I'm not going to change my mind unless someone can clearly show me how the SM's are making this forum a better place. I know a couple of things have been pointed out, but I feel it doesn't justify having a broken system in place for it. I absolutely have no problems with any of the SMs themselves, it's not a personal thing, it's more of a 'don't hate the players, hate the game' kind of thing. I honestly personally have no problem with inside jokes and all the other stuff I mentioned but I do have a problem with how I think it effects the forum. That's all. To be fair I do keep my opinion within related topics, you've gotta give me some kudos for that.

Before I reply I need a disclaimer. I am not personally bothered by any of the points I made personally, I'm just pointing out possible reasons why some people have said there's a divide and that bothers them. But TF isn't the proprietor to other groups, but is to the SM's. Admins / mods has no control over who's friends and no real control over TF's inside jokes. But things like Tarty SM discount is something that exclusively came out of SM chat. I'm not taking about inside jokes between friends. I don't really understand what you mean with regards to the 2nd part. Are you saying that those jokes were created because of my complaining? Again, I'm taking about SMs and you keep comparing that to regular users. There's a difference as TF has set up this SM system. I was using it as another example of a divide because it was a SM party. Not a trials rider party, or a TF member party. How many regular members were at that party just out of curiosity? I have a good general idea of what the content is from previous topics, but yeah I agree I don't know as it's a hidden forum. At the end of the day you can't deny there was a guy who was made (or was going to be made) an SM and he turned it down because of reasons I mentioned above. Now that's coming from someone who had to oppotunity to be an SM. Imagine how the regular members feel. I can't see how you'd need help validating people when we have an automated system in place. I can understand needing help with regards to devalidation, but is that really an issue where'd you'd need to make a topic or couldn't discuss with the other mods alone?

I do know that there is important topics in there that serve no purpose to members as they may be about moderating functions etc. But they serve no purpose to SM's either. So It does make SM chat unnecessary. But It makes Mod Chat very necessary.

Exactly. There's no real need for it. SM get nominated by other SM's, we might see a couple of new ones per year. There's no real criteria set in stone there's just a thread where people nominate others. The problem is it drives a wedge between them and regular members. You can see it all over the forum. Avatar trends, inside jokes (tarty disount, SM porn), screenshots of Sm chat with parts blurred out and at one point there was actually a SM party. On the surface it appears harmless, but on the whole it's not doing the forums atmosphere any good. Normally that wouldn't be an issue if SM chat was serving a purpose, but it's not.

I've always been pretty critical of the SM system and even more so since I read a member who was made an SM, then asked to be demoted back to a regular member because he didn't like the "I'm better than you" atmosphere it gave. The whole SM thing should be scrapped and the SM forum should be kept for mods and admin only, seems to me most of the stuff discussed in there only effects the mods and admin anyway. The rest of the stuff seems to be nothing more than a private chat room. It also helps drive a wedge between SM's and regular members. That's all I'll say on that as this topic isn't about that. With regards to the main point, why can't this stuff just be discussed in the news section or trials chat like has already been mentioned?

I have no problem with faxes per say. What pisses me off is when they can fax only, but can't email you. I called my opticians in the UK from the USA asking them to email me my prescription. They weren't set up for email (this was this year!!!). But they said they could fax it over. They couldn't give me it over the phone either, so I had to have them send it out to my dad who emailed me it. Pathetic for 2010!

I also despise printers. I'm with Inur, I can never remember a time when I just pressed print and that was it. My main problems are with color streaking even though the ink cartridges are brand new. Usually takes me around a week to just print out what I need. Hate the things.

Oh yeah I knew that, I just said that as a little bit of into if it could help. I did boost the sound a fair chunk by ticking the 'enhance loudness' setting, which seemed to boost voice significantly but suppress music a tiny bit so it's a good trade off. I guess that's as good as it's going to get. It isn't a real big issue as I can just stick in my headphones when need be. Thanks guys!
