  1. I think it's the same with any component - there's always people that love them and always people that don't. Probably why we're not all riding the same bikes with the same components. I used single walls for 6 months, and I've recently bought some double walls from CRC for £35, which seemed perfectly reasonable to me. They're the 2.5in ones with the nice upsweep, and they suit me just fine. Not sure about durability, as I've only had them a few weeks, but the aforementioned single walls are still in perfect condition.
  2. Excellent. Always nice to see some expression and creativity. Better than watching six people 'tap' a 50in wall for 3mins. Nice. (Grant, where's your entry??)
  3. 12.5" GT Arrowhead, '97 Judy C's, HS11 racelines and various other parts borrowed off my Giant Box One.
  4. Did leaving school aged 15 leave you with the inability to understand simple English and to format basic sentences? D-L-B was clearly stating that quite often you don't have room to drop your front wheel to one side, and that in a UCI comp (where your axle cannot cross the tape) this could result in a 5. Now, if you train 'UCI' every day (and I thought we all rode for fun) then perhaps you'd realise this. Nobody said that what you said was wrong - instead it was pointed out that perhaps your suggestion was a short cut. Nobody is telling you how to ride, but perhaps someone should tell you to keep your big mouth shut.
  5. Dragon bikes?? Yeah, around 2000 Ian was really good. I've heard that especially after Tibo came over to visit and Ian spent lots of time riding with him he got super good. Yet another one of those people that was good and just seemed to fade away. As for the DB bikes, as everyone says they've been out ages.
  6. If you do want to get it welded, go to WeldTec in Smalldole (just over the hills from you, other side of Devil's Dyke) and they'll charge a couple of quid to put some weld over it. Ideally you want to open the crack up a bit and fill it, but even without repairing it the frame will last a while longer.
  7. Hoffman Disrupter IL1. Does everything I want it to (within reason). Loads of fun. Can't remember when I last rode my trials bike...
  8. Vario Tibo Pace RC250T Titanium Raleigh trials frame (ex-Ian Cooper, prototype 1) Titanium Raleigh trials frame (ex-Ian Cooper, prototype 3?) DCD (ran over it with the car) Lots of rims (should bin them really) Shimano rear hubs (with caned freewheels) DDG sealed/D521 (x2 - freewheels knackered) Hope Bulb/BMF (shredded internals) Club Roost handlebars Onza double cage pedals And boxes of other bits that have come off bikes. Snapped Magura levers and crap like that. Really need to have a thin out.
  9. They all crack there, round the BB. I think maybe there is more flex from the back of the bike - look at the big gap in front of the rear wheel - the back end isn't as tight as a frame with a vertical seat-tube. Whatever, when I bought mine warranty was 3 months against manufacturer's defects. Which is fair enough. The crack you see isn't a manufacturer's defect. Since in many cases the weld is stronger than the substrate material, it's no surprise that the crack is along the top of the weld - plus there is less 'meat' there anyway.
  10. So you pay £1 and win a bike? It's that easy?
