  1. Yeah, downloaded it fine. Thanks for the link.
  2. Yeah might have a go, then I can use your measurements to make sure I got it right. Thanks for that - much appreciated.
  3. It's the old XC/Sport. It has the old spline/lockring disk attachment and a Hope sticker rather than an etched logo. So it's a few years old - would the spoke length be much different to a Mono setup? Thanks again.
  4. Does anybody know if the Hope Mono has the same outer dimensions (flange offset and diameter) as the Hope XC/Sport (splined disk attachment)? I'm trying to calculate the spoke lengths to build the XC onto a BMF/DX32 rim (32H) and I'd rather use Hope's hub measurements (given on their site for the Mono) as they're most likely to be accurate. Also, does anybody happen to know the inside diameter of the BMF/DX32? I could go home and measure them but I thought I'd ask incase anyone knows offhand. Thanks.
  5. Yeah, just buy 36H BMX hubs. Although you'd possibly be better with an Alex Supra-E Lite or something, as the Echo rim might get smashed up pretty quick.
  6. I meant at the UCI Worlds. At club/local trials its more likely to be silly marks that separate the top riders. But then again there's that 'good day'/'bad day' thing. Whatever. I just like the way Ben rides - no fuss, no mouthing off, just gets on and does it.
  7. Can't see any Brit rider beating Savage.
  8. So what was the black bike? Another 'Rey'?
  9. I think you'd have to go some to snap Smart Guys. Danny's a big boy and he does throw his bike around a bit (in the 'riding hard' way, not the tantrum way!). Wayne - which Ashton forks have you had? The first ones had a dodgy looking disk mount (not welded all the way round). The newer ones have a one piece dropout and mount don't they? (BTW Wayne, have you ridden the new Ashton yet? Just wondered how it compares to the old one. Cheers)
  10. I suppose it's all about who's knob you suck.
  11. Does anyone know if that Tibo video is still online? The one with him riding the MBK with the bright yellow rims. That guy is a legend. The original French super-beast. Thanks.
  12. Looks nice - far better painted than not painted. Apparently if you buy a Toxsin it means you ride for them too. Bonus. (Y)
  13. A few tenths?? Doubt it. Painting maybe, but you'd only be doing the external surfaces. Profile don't make the 'non anodised' hubs smaller because of the anodising. If you buy that PlastiCote (sp) stuff from a hardware store (or Wilkinson's - £2.95 for a 400ml aerosol last time I looked) it should stretch enough under the wheel building stress. Can't see it cracking up unless you build the wheel gorilla-tight.
  14. How about phoning Profile and seeing if they can help?
  15. Even 28:13 is probably a bit light - you'd be best going nearer 33 if you want a reduction. You'll soon get used to it. I don't use the bash/grind plate idea, although they are good if you think you'd use it. Plaz pads, you could try selectbikes.com. I bought some from CleanBikes and they ended up costing (including P+P) about £20 for a pair.
  16. Phil you big moaner. It looks nice - looks original and like a serious piece of hardware. I like the sound of the geometry as well. Nothing was wrong with the old Varios, and I still have mine too. Wouldn't mind having a ride on this one though...
  17. I use the Microsoft AntiSpyware software (Beta 1). Downloadable from msdn.com, but I don't know if you have to have an MSDN subscription. Might be worth a try though, as it's dead good. I did use AVG (and it was excellent) but I'm about to try something different.
  18. Surely it's MAM to you, you big Northern bum?
  19. From back when you looked like a grimey old ape. Must say you (Sarah?) have cleaned yourself up, young man. Is a good video though...
  20. Don't learn the opposite way... yet. It's best to go to your back-foot side so you don't (as you say) hit your pedal on the way up. If you sidehop close to something (you may have to, in comps for example) then it's best to have the pedal clearance. As for the mech/QR, most of us have done that. I ripped a nice new Hope skewer out of the backwheel once, but that can happen either side. Probably best putting the cam/lever bit on the non-drive side if you're hopping to the right... Once you do get sidehops dialled, it isn't that much harder to go the other way. A weeks practice and you'll be doing both ways to a similar height.
  21. I use 1 finger on my Dirty Harry's (one finger on each lever that is...)
  22. If you have U-brake mounts, you can put EVO caliper brackets on upside down. Not sure about rim grinding - the Evolver/chrome rim/plaz pad setup (a la Bongo) works fine for me. Keep meaning to fit the softer springs at the front though. Oh yeah, and this year's Hoffman bikes are shit hot.
  23. Excellent pictures Chris - all the more reason to get Old Paul to get a Section7 gallery going! You're on digital now aren't you? I got Jessops to do some 7x5 prints from my digital and they came out really well. Can't see any reason now to use my trusty old 35mm Pentax.
