  1. I have a Mavic Crossride from a 2013 bike, and it has some play in the rear axle. Not disassembled it yet, but I'm confused as to how this is happening. I read some other stuff online, it seems to be a common problem and Mavic's suggested fix was questionable. It has cartridge bearings so I don't get how the axle is moving about. Anyone know anything about these wheels, or know how to strip the hubs?
  2. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/174495-the-motorbike-thread/page-40#entry2604943 Definitely worth a look!
  3. Buying a proper 4LS hub would've cost about a grand - way too expensive for this bike! I think this wheelset has cost me about £450 with tyres, and apart from the hub shells/brake plates it's virtually all new.
  4. The hub is the standard SR 400/500 twin leading shoe hub. Actually I haven't checked about mesh - I know that the more expensive big drums often have mesh-covered scoop, I remember seeing that on racing bikes. I'll take a look and see. The rims are made by Excel in Japan - they're both 18", front is 1.85 and rear 2.15. As far as I know they are indeed a replica of the valanced rims made by Borrani, Akront etc.
  5. Amazing video. Joey was a true legend, such an accomplished rider. My bike is now nearing completion. Had a ton of issues with the carb and also maybe an occasionally sticking valve (something's not right in the head anyway). So right now the engine has gone in for a complete top-end rebuild plus a brand new Keihin 38CR carb. Aside from a few other last jobs that needed doing, my wheels are finally ready. Ended up opting for Avon AM26 tyres instead of the Bridgestones, as the guy doing all the work had some in stock and I was getting fed up with trying to source the others. Three weeks and it should all be done.
  6. Mine too. As a young buck I never thought one day I'd be in a position (lol!) where I have a hot girl wanting it all the time, but quite often I'm not as keen. It's not that I've lost interest in her as such, I just think it's unusual for me to have been with the same girl so long (6 months now). For most of the last few years I've been either single or playing around and it keeps things interesting, there's a challenge, a game to play. As Mike says though often you want what you don't have. Mid last year when I was getting together with a few different girls (two of which were bad news) I ended up getting jack of it and just thinking f'ck, why can't I meet a cute, fun, awesome girl and make it work. And then I did. So yeah, grass being greener and that.
  7. Why don't you sell your cars and just share one?
  8. It's effectively a boning that you owe your earlier self, so it's perfectly fine to proceed. It won't be cheating.
  9. Dunno, I think that it's cock that leads them down the tubby path. The hot girls from my uni days that I still have on Facebook, all the ones engaged/married have porked out massively. People find a comfortable home, they get lazy, they buy junk at the supermarket and have no need to maintain their figure as they've 'got their man' now.
  10. I just mean relationships - I think that some people would rather be in a relationship with someone than be single, even if it's far from ideal. Like perhaps they feel that being single is somehow being inadequate, when being single may actually put them in a position where they can meet someone really special, rather than having some controlling boy/girlfriend who just holds them back.
  11. I really like the idea. I'd rather see collections/groups instead of individual images. Whenever I posted something on my website I used to consider the photo order, size and arrangement really carefully. I think sometimes there's as much to be said about that as there is about the photos themselves, and it can actually be really hard. For example if you are working on book layouts, and you have three pictures on one page, and one on the opposite page, all on the same theme - how do you indeed make the lines, colours etc sympathetic to each other? In this case the single-point perspective works nicely.
  12. I watched it on Ross's recommendation (episodes 1 and 2 of the current series are on YouTube) - certain parts of it were hard to watch. In the end the dancer pair just got irritating - I mean fair play to the guy, I think he knew within about 5 minutes that he had it in the bag, but she was clearly unable to control herself. I guess they had to throw in a couple like that to compensate for the ones that are just plain odd. And man how f**king awful was that half-Thai girl? I thought the guy she was paired with was cool as f'ck, and yet she was obviously of the opinion she was worth so much more.
  13. Found on Vimeo... In my opinion this was really well produced, and I remember it always inspiring me to ride. (Yep you'll have to click the link ; )
  14. I thought it was a pretty good program. Those two were pretty influential riders in their times.
  15. I pay about £400 a month for a 58 sq m apartment (but I live in Asia, not sure if that's relevant to your question). I'd be tempted to get a UK mortgage as an investment, but I just don't want the headache really.
  16. I believe in freedom of speech, I don't believe in pig ignorance and racism. The fact that the show is the most successful the BBC has doesn't justify keeping him either. There's a wider issue of the reputation of the BBC too, which I expect is beginning to concern the executives. I couldn't give a flying f'ck about the BBC myself because I strongly disagree with the way the TV license is 'enforced'. My evidence for the bit about the boy racers is based on people I know in the modified car scene, and they have reasonably good cars. Actually I'm probably insulting them by mentioning Max Power, and I've no idea whether or not it exists. It was mentioned for illustrative purposes only.
  17. Clarkson has said stuff which many others would never have got away with, and because "he's Clarkson". It doesn't wash with me - the guy is offensive and belligerent and I hate the way modified car lads swoon over him like he's their spiritual leader. True, Top Gear has been very entertaining on occasion, but I don't think that excuses the guy's behaviour. He's had plenty of warnings before, he could've heeded them, but I guess he thinks he should persist as it's part of his own character and he knows all the Max Power reading kids would let him bum them given half a chance. Since we're talking about Top Gear...
  18. Bullshit like this: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/barbara-hollingsworth/bachelor-nation-70-men-aged-20-34-are-not-married Comments section is equally hilarious. I don't think any demographic has it better than white, 20-40 year old women in the US, and yet they still complain. Having branded men every as selfish and horrible, now apparently we're to blame because we decided marriage and families was too much of a ballache to proceed with, and so we f'cked it off in favour of a lifestyle more rewarding to ourselves. The Tinder guys in here know what I'm talking about. Don't get me wrong - marriage is no bad thing. I'm best man at a wedding next month, I get it, but when women start complaining that there's 'slim pickings' it just smacks of the general air of entitlement they seem to have in the west. Like we're supposed to run around them all night, proove we're not a rapist, give them the sex they wanted anyway, then sign a contract so they can stop being scared about getting old and fat and dying on their own. Hmm, might just keep riding motorbikes and drinking lots of beer.
  19. The seriousness with which some people take biketrials competitions is questionable. Ultimately it's just kids in lycra shorts and spacker shoes riding retarded looking bikes with awful sounding brakes.
  20. Be proud of who you are and see it as their loss. You'll find something.
  21. I had loads of them back in the day, they were decent!
