  1. Well that really isnt the case is it? The same frame is available in two options, one cheaper and more durable, the other lighter and slightly more expensive. That's giving the buyer a choice. While strength seems to be the most important factor for you, someone else (a comp rider for example) Would probably be willing to spend a bit more so they don't get fatigued tired as quickly while riding. Generally competitions aren't as harsh on a bike as launching off your local car park roof so while an SL might break quickly in the second scenario, it could last twice as long in the first. This is not even going into rider smoothness and ability. You don't like the SL versions, we get it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its a bad product, it's just not suited for you. Like Greetings said, nobody's forcing you to buy one, if anything it's the opposite. You have a choice

Very true, i quite enjoyed it.

5 Years to remake the incredible hulk and that worked out pretty good. 10 years to restart the spiderman franchise and when this is released next year it'll be 5 years since spiderman 3 comes out. The suit for the new one already looks better. The other films were too bright and happy, this one at least looks more realistic aside from that god awful mirrors edge section.
  4. Put a string through the old bash. Voila! One medal
  5. Yeah i understood the first time you wrote it, cheers for the patronisation . But you said you only cleaned it once 2 years ago. Not "clean it well, ride it for a week, clean it again and rebleed, ride for a week, clean again" until feeling nice. I'm not being thick, nor am i saying you did a crap job cleaning it. What i am saying is this:
  6. I'd imagine it depends on how long they had the magura before they did a water bleed. What conditions the magura was used in (dust/saltwater/snow around seals etc) probably plays a factor in how hard/easy it is to bleed a magura with water for the first time. See after 5 years of magura oil use i'd imagine yours to be a pig of a brake to switch over to water, but a lot of people nowadays buy a magura new and switch it to water or buy a second hand one with quite a few second hands ones already being bled with water. Those who can't get it to work probably just bled it a load of times until it felt nice, which is what i did in the beginning.
  7. See, this just adds to the "still got gunk in there" theory. It fits perfectly with what i've found myself when first converting to water bleeds nearly half a decade ago on this very same magura i'm using now. It took a few rides to dislodge the crap and a fresh bleed everytime it got really slow brought it back up to being light and springy again. After 5-6 of these it seemed to stay working very nicely. When doing a friends a litttle later we tried the hot water and washing up liquid with a syringe at each end and pushed/pulled the washing up liquid through the magura. The stuff that came out was dark black and stank of magura blood. He'd had his brake bled with water for 2 weeks previously. He didn't need to rebleed with water after that.
  8. Because you were being a tit I only mentioned not being thoroughly cleaned because the slave pistons are rather hard to get into. What tends to happen with water in the brake when you've still got a bit of oil left is you'll get a nice sticky grey gunk that coats the insides of the slaves. If you where to take your lever apart after a couple of rides and have a look at the lever spring i'd imagine you'd have the same stuff all over that too. Because the slaves are so hard to clean as you can't get into them there's likely a bit in there you missed. Thats why the hot water and washing up liquid works well as the heat and the washing up liquid both break down any remaining bits of magura blood. If i remember correctly my original bleed with water took 5-6 bleeds over a couple of weeks before it felt better and after each bleed more gunk came out. I'm only mentioning from experience that one thorough clean didn't work for me and i know i ceaned it up to a nice shine in the lever myself too. The thing about the plastic swelling was covered recently in another thread. Most plastics soak up a small amount of water and swell, much in the same way wood does. It's not by much but the tolerances inside a magura are very fine so even a small amount of swelling makes the pistons slightly stiffer. I'll try and find the thread for it. EDIT: Found it, one of the top results for "sticky pistons" http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/163793-using-water-and-got-sticky-pistons/page__hl__sticky+pistons
  9. Haha, you're really on your period today aren't you. You said you hadn't taken all the magura blood out. Magura blood and water feels crap, which is what you described. Flushing the oil out is the easiest and most effective fix for this. There's no presumptions, you wrote that it wasn't fully cleaned out Most people run water through until it comes out clear the other side. If it feels shit they bleed it again and watch more shit come out that's been dislodged. They don't come onto a forum whining and disregarding people who've gotten it to work perfectly. If you want something really accurate i'd look to explaining how plastic parts in the magura swell slightly when bled with water and blah..... but seeing as you're not going to listen there's not much point. I don't have leftover oil from magura blood, but finish line. Bleed it with water, whack some finish line on the seals and your good to go with a great feeling brake. A few months down the line put another drop of finish line on each seal and your set for a few more months of non sticky high speed lever action. For the record, ending a cocky sentence with a is a sign of sarcasm, a joke, or playful banter. Let's not get our knickers in a twist over a single sentence next time hey?
  10. Given that mine works, i'm gonna go with yours isn't properly clean.
  11. The problem is you've got royal blood AND water in there. I've always found a water bleed works best if you get all the gunk from the magura blood out the brake first. I actually took the lever blade off and the piston out and shoved a piece of tissue down there. The crap that came out was unreal. A rather easy way i've found is to mix up some hot (not boiling) water and washing up liquid and pump some of that through a few times with the syringe. Your bleed feels shit because you've still got all the crap in there and you've said it yourself in that the lever response feels slower than with oil. Water should feel really quick and you'll certainly notice the difference, if it doesn't you need to clean it. My best performing brake so far is a good water bleed with a drop of finish line extreme wet lube round the edge of the lever and slave pistons. It feels amazing. You haven't cleaned the insides out properly. Imagine eating chewing gum for 5 years and then having a plate of salad. That one little bit of healthy food won't get past the gum stuck to your insides. Get a colonic and it'll be much better. Mine is the same magura i bought when i first got maguras in like 2004 maybe and it's been bled with water for the majority of that time. My slave prong has snapped off but the bleed is still going strong.

    Helmets

After trying quite a few in shops a while back i found the giro hex to be a lovely fit. With helemts though, it's often best to go to a shop and try them on, as some look great but feel like crap when wearing them.
  13. Right, because the camera seems to be easier to use that way. I think it's my dominant eye though as it's the one i'll automatically use for microscopes, telescopes etc. too.
  14. Put the bashring on something flat to see if it's bent I'd be inclined to say it's the bash though, everything else looked fine in that video.
  15. So are you going to run it bashringless or fit a slimline bashring over the bottom bracket cup?
  16. It's not a terrible lens, it's in fact a very good lens at what it is designed for. It's a landscape lens through and through, i have one myself. It was designed well before SLR's had video modes and so it isn't well suited to up close clips of moving objects. I liked the video though, such a great rider.
  17. Yeah, i guess i could partake in a bit of leicester action.
  18. I'd go for a fresh install. Get your basic programs on, so antivirus, web browser, email client and any others you use frequently (itunes, photoshop etc). Once your at a point where you've sat down and thought "yep, no need to shove anything else on for now" make a backup of the operating system. If your running vista/7 theres a feature built in that will clone your install to a couple of dvd discs. Then in the future should you find it going slow again it'll be a whole lot less hassle to just shove in your backup discs and revert to the point just after you've installed all your files.
  19. It doesn't look shit, just the wrong size. I seem to remember you using a jvc everio nick, if so check out the Raynox 5050 or 3035 lenses. I use this one with mine and when coupled with a slimline 30.5-37mm adapter theres no barrelling effect. That said, the clips were good and it's nice to see something of kyle on the forum. He's a great rider but i think this is the first video of him that i've ever seen. Cheers for sharing dude!
  20. I've always thought this one was good. "Use the search" http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/163941-thingswords-you-always-havealways-will-remember/page__hl__quotes
  21. Ha ha, f**king hell tobe. Your camera must have said something harsh at the end, that was an epic stare-down of dissaproval, .

    Films!?

I reckon they'd be far more likely to use the unicron storyline from the cartoon. Unicron was a giant planet eating transformer and the storyline was simple but good. Given Megatrons situation at the end of number 3 it'd fit in quite well too.
