They aren't bad, they're bad if overly consumed. As with most things they're fine if they are a part of a balanced diet. I'd say theres nothing wrong with eating loads of sandwhiches. Its better than having a purely chocolate diet. So long as your still getting enough vitamins, minerals, iron etc then then you'll be a healthy chap.

Thats absolutely fine until your riding down the street and someone turns on their microwave or some kids play with a toy car/helicopterplane and you get sent flying. On something as important as your brake you don't want it being controlled by unnecessary technology. Theres also the whole compression of the caliper idea that needs to be sorted, hydraulic fluid in the caliper is almost out of the question, a servo may work but it'd need to be damn strong and ultimately far more expensive than the new echo brake. Then theres the problem with lever feel and the ability to feather your brake slightly. Not to mention the size of the unit, it'd have so much more stuff on it that the weight and size would be ridiculous. Then theres a need for a power supply, wheres it going to be mounted? How do you charge it up? what happens if it dies mid-ride? I mean, you could use a dynamo and charge it up by riding around but us trials riders don't ride very far at all and use our brakes loads. If something as high tech as an aeoroplane still uses hydraulic cables instead of radio signals then why would it be need on a bike? Theres nothing wrong with the current setup, unless you say falling and ripping the hose could be a problem but then again landing on a rail and denting your frame could be a problem, has anyone invented a device that automatically senses when your falling and raises the pressure of the downtube to make it more dent resistant? No. Why? Because its not necessary. Before you say i'm stopping technological progression too. Theres no way me saying this is going to stop some big-head company making one should they want to. The only thing you might say is that i'm stopping technological acceptance, but then as its not invented yet its not an issue.

If you wanted another dmr style bike then this is pretty similar. If not, tell the insurance that you want a better bike than the ones the company is offering and that you want to show them somewhere to get your new bike from so they can order it for you.

You bump for sale topics, theres no need to bump a random topic. If you'd have used your time trying to get your head around how to use a search engine instead of trying to bump this topic then you'd have found this along with many other similar topics. Its not like your the first person ever to ask, i swear new members are getting more stupid . EDIT: Sorry if it seems harsh, i'm already in a bad mood and seeing new members bumping topics just plain annoyed me, theres no need, if people wanted to write in it you wouldn't have to bump it. -
I appreciate the replies you give to posts. Its nice to see a company who actually answers questions and listens to riders rather than just informing us of something your bringing out and leaving us guessing. What sort of warranty is there on this headset? Is it strong enough to justify a king-styled 10 year warranty or will it be a standard 1 year manufacturing and defects warranty?

I don't think the problem with grinding your rim leading to alzheimers is something that should concern the majority of people. I thought its just that because the enodising layer on the echo rims is so tough it takes more work to grind it off, resulting in more dust. Which would be ordinarily nothing to worry about if you grind your own rim every few weeks/months, but if your working at tarty's grinding everyones super thickly coated rims, then its going to be a much more serious issue. Onza used to sell bikes with grinds, but don't anymore as i guess it just wasn't neccessary.

You sure you had the gigapipe DH one and not the normal downhill one ... Or even just the standard gigapipe? The true gigapipe DH has 4 sets of bearings... which run smooth forever. Mine came with my frame at the end of last summer and its still going strong... never creaked or anything, and shows no sign of dieing yet. And bear in mind i weigh 16.5 stone, fairly competant rider and it was second hand when i got it. Boumsong also used to run one for as long as i knew him to have his coust AND Hi-ifi frames... his never made a noise either with well over 14 months use and he never used to be exceptionally smooth.
-
Nearly every king i've been on has skipped while i had a go on it. They are most certainly not a hub for my current riding style, and if i was to run one i'd need to change the way i gap and everything. I like the sound of the pro II's, i prefer them having pawls too... and the whole dishless wheel idea is somewhat appealing to me. I'd say get a hope.

I use comodo. Its alright, does the job okay, i like blue and it doesn't affect my torrents so i'm happy. Theres also fairly regular updates for it so i'm covered against recent threats most of the time.

Ridden a castle wall yeah, not an excavation. Castle, designed to withstand enemy attacks etc. This looks like an excavation site thats been dug up and then shielded from the elements... like rain. If someone was so concerned about it being rained on then its not the same as riding a castle wall is it.

Get two thin allen keys and slide them into each sprocket tooth hole either side of the stiff join. Push/pull them in opposite directions to each other a little bit and it'll lossen your link off quite nicely. Cheap, quick and easy.... without a need to get your hands mucky

I'm not saying people go for them solely on the fact that they're cheaper, but they fill a nice niche in the market which obviously helps with sales. I'm only trying to say i can't see it being such a good seller when you can get kings from ebay, every week for as little as £69+£5 postage. A lot of people get their kings from ebay because of the cheaper price from the ebay shops, if i was going to get one i wouldn't think twice about the choice of buying it off ebay for £69 or buying it from a shop for £120, but then again, kings can be purchased for much less than £120 at most other places... like here. I just think if the tensile one had been aimed at a £45-50 price it would fill the niche up quite nicely and i know i would probably buy one. But if i'm paying over £60 on a headset when £20 headsets have been lasting me just fine then i'd go all out and get a king, for the name and the warranty.

Jonny, spray your frame and rims white.... it'll look immense. We'll make you some red zenith stickers too in any stylre you want. Just imagine how amazing it would look really.
-
Care to elaborate? XC riding is best in winter.... its all wet, muddy and slippy. Its so much more fun than a boring dry hard floored summer ride
-
Thats exactly what i'm trying to say though, the tensile cranks are £109 for an isis set where as the burns are £139. Similar quality products at a much more competitive price. With King headsets not costing much more than this i there isn't a great deal to make the tensile an obviously appealing product. If tensiles cost £130 would you still buy them instead of £139 burns? I know i wouldn't, its not a reflection of the quality of the product, but i'd rather have a reputable and extremely good warranty over a slightly cheaper price.... and i think its going to be the same with the headsets.

The difference with the specialised and the phase is the geometry. The hardrocks are more jump/xc orientated and so would have slightly longer chainstays (making it harder to pull the front wheel up), slightly lower bottom bracket height (putting your weight lower down so not as good for sidehops or front gaps) and i would imagine its not the lightest bike around. The phase is more adapted to trials so the issues i mentioned above have been addressed and it'll be a much more responsive bike for this type of riding. I do recommend t-rex's though... they are good fun.
-
Last hardrock i saw had a shimano rear hub I would say that theres a 95% chance its your hub skipping. And that you should invest in something more reliable like a hope, atomlab, halo, king or profile.

Personally i would consider someone like martin ashton or ryan leech as a pro. They both get free bikes (martin with his own company) and both get paid to travel around doing demo's all over the place. Both have also won a load of titles and prizes, wasn't martin world champion for a couple of years? Either way, for me, those riders are pro... and everyone else who just gets the odd free part and stick tarty/selectbikes advertising at the beginning of a video aren't remotely pro.... good riders maybe, but nowhere near the same leagues as real pro's.

Couldn't, its in for repair.

I thought the different writing on that giant sign was quite funny. Good pics though. I took some after you left, much of the same kind of riding though. Sorry about the quality, but i don't care if you don't like it really... i took them with my phone not a camera so i can't expect perfect clarity. Ben geary, gap to front Conner snow, gap to front Conner snow, gap Beau, drop gap (in the background :$ ) Wally, gap to front Danny Kearns, drop gap Wally, drop gap Conner snow, drop gap Jonny MC, drop gap DanKO, Gapping everywhere Jonny MC, gapping Pauly, classic example of his frequently amazing rear tyre grip Ben geary, tap to front resulting in..... Conner snow, unusual sidehop views Dan, massive bunnyhop gap Beau, tap One of pauly's numerous attempts at this sidehop Beau, gapping.... somewhere Danny kearns, getting lazy at bunnyhops Beau, up to front DanKO, up to front Pauly, neatly making a sidehop Ben Geary, up to front Beau's rear wheel SUBWAY!!! Jonny MC Failing the drop gap and pulling a stupid face Danny kearns went tesco and i hid his bike :$ Sorry i took so long to put them up, went to jays house saturday night and ended up stopping over and going XC/light downhilling sunday. Heres a couple of pics iof anyone cares....

Am i wrong in thinking the distance between the rear axle and the brake mounts is roughly the same on mod bikes? Or are you trying to make it so it rests on the seatstay to spread the braking load out a bit more? I genuinely don't understand how it would be different between every type of frame so if someone could put me straight i'd very much appreciate it I guess this is how i imagined it would look, which i guess fits most frame shapes.

Yeah, i didn't think i had, but after turning it off for a week or so i noticed that instead of torrents getting speeds of like 224kb/s dl they were getting speeds of 350-400kb/s. Apparantly it can intefere with a lot of peoples connections. I found out from looking at a tutorial on how to speed up torrents and alongside things like using incoming connection patches and editing diferent bits of windows, switching the firewall off was the one i tried first.
-
If you send it via recorded delivery, its very VERY rare that it will get lost at all
-
If you use torrents though its been known to hinder them, sometimes quite severely. I saw a noticable difference in the speed of my downloads when i switched it off. Comodo works well enough for me, plus its easy to use.

--> QUOTE(joe b @ Feb 25 2007, 05:12 PM) ←Haha, i remember that . That was a good ride and so will this be - i can't wait ...Yeah, it does get rather boring, don't it, Mike? I'll tell you what... We'll go somewhere where you've never been and i've only been once. It's a fair ride away but it will definately make a change. It's called Nottingham University and we've got own personal escort. His name is Fred . Oh, i can't wait now. We're going to the big Uni . See you all there... Cheers, Joe. Is that the nottingham trent uni with the river going through it? The one thats all the way over the other side of that giant hill? Because unfortunately last time i went it wasn't very good at all
