  1. Their terms and conditions state its only for their music and that smaller shops may be exempt. I guess you'd have to check their tariff pdf then. I can't get the thing to open on my computer. The problem i see is that while playing cd's in a store might be against the law, a radio is a completely different form of media. You pay for the device to play it, and the broadcast itself is freely aired. Now the station itself is covered in its own right because it gets paid through the advertising. The customers aren't going to be hearing just the songs, they hear the adverts too. The customer also isn't going to be taking the music home with them in a reproducible format. The fact that this company seems to be charging for radio stations to be broadcast seems fairly suspect as their making a profit from a free service, which in itself is against the law. Fair enough if you were broadcasting a television service to customers then they are effectively using a paid service for free... but the radio isn't a paid service so it changes things again.
  2. Nope, mine works fine. Mind you i get extra privileges
  3. No i don't need more. Its just i currently can't get hold of stu as he's attending a funeral and i'm expecting a call from the solicitors any minute to decide. I know we just got a huge gas bill of £1350 between three of us. I had my share pretty much covered so long as i live off beans for a couple of weeks but this money will make paying the bill a breaze. Should have some left for my new monitor too
  4. Copyright infringement requires him to be replicating the original source digitally (i guess analogue too if he copies it to a tape) for distribution. He's only breaking copyright laws if he copies the original cd and hands it out. However, the laws on allowing the media to be played or distributed in a public place is slightly different. A lot of DVD's etc withhold the right for the owner to play them in public places and on coaches... stuff like that. Playing a radio is allowed as its a free to air broadcast, if the internet radio station is freely broadcast as well then its okay for him to play it in his shop. I'm pretty sure that playing his cd's in the shop won't be an illegality, just a violation of the laws set out by the producers of the music. It should say in the sleeve whether playback in public places is allowed. Just out of curiosity. Who does he think is going to be telling him off? In reality, with the way music is used nowadays nobody will check the way the media is setup.
  5. Bit of a bump, but we received letters to each of us from our solicitors today. We've known for a while that clubeasy acted illegally in entering the house without a warrant as this breaks uk shorthold tenancy laws even despite the tenancy being completed as set out in our contracts. We just had a response from their solicitors this morning informing us that what they did was fine legally, which has mightily confused our solicitor as it clearly isn't and yet they've offered me £820 and stu £675. Now we have to decide as to whether we want to take it further or accept the settlement. Personally i'm inclined to think the latter, should be quicker, is pretty close to the amount i set out in my original complaint to them and it settles the matter once and for all. So, settle or hold out for more?
  6. Bleeding a magura in a water fountain in the middle of town after we repaired a split hose with araldyte was pretty funny.
  7. I like the objectivity of riding alone. Having no rush, no hassle, not worrying about someone else waiting because your in the way of their run up etc. Its slower paced, more controlled and usually just used as a bit of a release from everyday life. I get to go out and watch other people as they wander round town half drunk and just generally get to do what i want without anybody objecting. If i'm going to ride on my own its usually late at night around smaller spots just so i can unwind a bit from everything. Riding in small groups is definitely the best though. Having a laugh with mates, trying silly stuff and just acting like a bit of a loon bring a kind of release in a different way. It's like I have an excuse to act like a bit of an idiot because the people around generally don't mind and are doing the same themselves. I get pushed more as i will most often try something quite bizarre to try and keep up with everyone else as they go bigger/further than me. Obscurity and imagination are my only strengths as of late and i enjoy the reactions as people notice what's just been tried. To be honest I've been missing riding a fair amount lately, and not the group riding of modern day trials. Instead, i've found myself missing the casual trips out into the forest with a couple of friends with a couple of beers and some food on the other bikes. Just casually cruising round for a while down the hills and over the trails, even if its just tweaking off something like a large tree root. The idle talk while we consume lunch and then off for some mad speed races down to the bottom of the biggest, most winding hill we can find. I miss getting to the bottom and being greeted with having the wave of calm creep over you as you slowly make your way back to the car laughing and discussing about how you nearly had your front wheel slide out as you hit a rock at a stupid angle or how you didn't notice a gap till the last minute but still cleared it anyway. Hopefully this year will be as good.
  8. Don't like it i'm afraid. Think its the tyres that ruin it for me.
  9. The 15th is f**king ages away! Oh, happy validation day by the way!
  10. Just downloaded 12gb of tv shows and eaten 2 curries. Time for bed i think.
  11. Tell them you don't have the money spare to go spend it on some silly jacket. Or paint your own jacket one colour.
  12. My friend stripped his pedal threads on the middle of a DH/Trails ride. So we got a 10mm Allen key and some duct tape and slotted it through the pedal whole and attached the L bend of the Allen key to the back of the crank arm. Worked all day My jump bike is kind of one large bodge, I think that's why I like it so much. The bleed plug is currently replaced with a piece of lego and up until last night i had small sticks as spacers on my chainring bolts.
  13. It does look rather smart, though completely new bikes always do have that "shiny new bike" look about them (along with the new bike smell ). It's nice to see you have things to do to let you pass the day
  14. It was just like using a memory pen. Takes about 30 seconds Music is called music, videos is called videos and camera is DCIM.
  15. For f**ks sake, grow up the pair of you.
  16. Yeah, that's pretty much it. And to be fair, it's more to do with the fact you fail at spotting sarcasm. Even with the included sarcasm/humour smilie.
  17. Its a running joke for dr. nick, okay? Anyway, to answer you're question, it would be the person who wanted me to give you this lovely 1 week suspension for being cheeky and trying to circumvent the swear filter
  18. I've had that feeling all day. Missed going to work, instead of going to bed i stayed up building a wheel. Now i have to be at work at 8am and i'm on the internet again
  19. Yeah, you heard. Your up to it again!
  20. Not especially, but kind of getting irritated with the amount of shit jack chinnery is spouting out at the minute. Every time i read a crappy post his name is next to it.
  21. Jesus christ. There's this new thing out... don't know if you've heard of it... its called msn. And jack, you being a tool isn't fixed by repeating an existing thread and changing some of the words around in the initial post. Stop being such a plank.
