  1. They're not exactly the same fork if one's longer and has different disc mounts (well, positions), but since 80% of trials forks come out of the same factory/catalogue, it's to be expected. It is rather absurd though, that such similar products can be priced not only so high, but also have such a difference in price
  2. http://www.26twenty.com/ Site looks cool, nice and functional too which is always a bonus. Video was awesome as well, really enjoyed the fun laid back style, much like in some of your older vids
  3. Haha, sounds legendary! What was everyone like in the other spots? Thinking mainly centre and such, Lloyds is a bit more out the way, possibly Castle Park or something might be alright dependant on public traffic. I reckon if we could find somewhere relatively central, and properly organise something (location, get stuff in to ride etc) then it could kick off, but would require a bit of work...
  4. To be honest, the larger Bristol rides usually end up with a few groups of riders heading off on their own. As I said in the other thread, if you want to sort out a ride that's bigger than a normal large group ride, a public place where we shouldn't really ride in the first place isn't the best idea, and just won't work. Some specific, dedicated event/location with a lot of planning is the only way to get this to work to any extent
  5. Likewise... Run something like a 74kingz style arrangement perhaps? Seems to be one of the better solutions
  6. You do realise that that's no closer than if it were any other number, right?!
  7. http://observedtrials.net/vb/showthread.php?t=33858 Looks like something out of a Pete Wright catalogue...
  8. 9 bits of coursework to do. -One of which is Data Analysis, due tomorrow at noon deadline, got a fair chunk of it done now. -Next of which is a Java programming thingy, due in Weds midnight, and I haven't even looked at it yet -Aero lab report - shouldn't be too bad, 4 of my housemates do aero and are in the year above, so they can point me in the right direction -3 Case Studies projects, one presentation. These are the bitches really. The course is split into groups of 4, but due to the odd numbers, we were a group of 3. One dickhead decided he didn't want to turn up for anything in the first term, including meetings etc. He's now dropped out. 2 of us have been having to do 4 peoples' work for 12 weeks now, and so have 2 projects which should have been finished by now, as well as one big one which should be all we have to do. Chuck of other stuff too, which is nice Was going to go for an all nighter tonight, but done all I can currently do, so it's sleep time. Will try to complete this Data in the morning, but I'll no doubt sleep too much... Goodnight TF
  9. Nope, she's saving that for next time... Wouldn't wanna rush now would she?
  10. If you can find one on here, get a second hand Pro II for that money, else save a little more and buy one new Deng freehubs seem to get a lot of bad press from the people I've spoken to about them, and a few on here too
  11. Yes. Single ply tyres are absoulutely fine, but obviously it depends on what conditions you put them in. Single ply + thin tube is very different to single ply and thick tube which is very different to dual ply with thick tube which is very diffe.... There are differences in the properties of single/dual ply tyres, thick/thin tubes etc that make them more suitable for different conditions I've never run a dual ply tyre in my life, and have had no more punctures than anybody else I know
  12. Nobody said they were shit as such Some of it is down to a 'bodge it' approach, but no more so than with newer frames The thing is, the limits were different when those frames were designed/made than now. If you ride a newer frame 'within its limits' then of course it'll last as long as you want it to! Not everyone buys a new frame every year, however with the second hand market as strong as it is, it's easier to change frames if you want something a bit different. It's a good thing.
  13. I'm with Woody on this one. The majority of old school trials specific frames (as in Pashleys and Zeros, or thereabouts) had faults like cracking, which is inevitable for products with no real background to go on. Progressions have been made from them, and have helped to shape where we are today. Just because something's old, doesn't mean it's bad, however there's a general (I use the term loosely!) trend for the newer products to be better, as there have been more previous examples to look at and learn from. I've heard/seen a few broken Zeros. Yeah, they rode nicely, looked cool as hell, and were popular, but they did break from time to time. You can't assume that because somebody has an opinion you don't agree with, that they are wrong, or that they don't know what they are talking about. This may be the case from time to time, but still... edit; Just seen the above post. Haha, Woodman, well played!
  14. Chances are I'll try and sort something out a touch later in the year, maybe around Easter time, when the weather is better, and more people will be available. I'll try and work out when people will be about, get Kennard over, check Biggus/Prawn etc are about, as well as everyone else. Last time was cool, as it was just as much of a reunion for us lot off at uni/work as it was a ride. February is always a little weird, as the weather can be really changeable, meaning planning things in advance isn't always ideal. It's also a time when most people are still at uni/school (uni's don't have half-term remember )
  15. I have 9 bits of coursework due in over the next week or so, TF is far more interesting than all of them
  16. My $0.02; It's extremely hard to get a date when a lot of people are all free, even moreso when EVERYONE is free. It's also very hard for some people to get places. What's close to one person is a day's travel for another. Even those places relatively central, not everyone can/can afford travel there and back, plus somewhere to stay for some. In order to get EVERYONE (or near enough) to ONE PLACE at the SAME TIME isn't going to happen I'm afraid. Also, consider the situation where, by some freak occurrence, everyone was able to afford to travel for however long, to the same place, on the same day. Where the hell is everyone going to ride?! On large rides of say 30 or so people, with a generic mixture of todays riders, a fairly representative sample for the entire population, you always get some points where people end up queuing to session one section of wall/one line. It's almost bearable on these rides, but if it were any bigger, hell no! Public annoyance levels would also be through the roof, there would almost undoubtedly be big police involvement, and whatever reputation trials may have in the public eye would almost certainly be screwed with... Big rides are good, but something on this scale would need BIG planning, it's own area, not a public place like a city, and considerably more thought... Perhaps something like Koxx Days at the quarry Ali C is helping to sort out for us, though even then not everyone will be able to come, as it would cost considerable time/money/travelling for a huge proportion of riders Not meaning to put a massive negative post, but these sorts of things should really be thought about to some depth before being considered like you seem to be doing. Perhaps a conceptual thread in Trials Chat, where it can be discussed etc would be more appropriate than a thread in Rides/Locations?
  17. The outer cable can make a fair bit of difference, but I run cheapy inners from the LBS and my brake feels amazing. Cables don't really stretch that much anymore, nowhere near how they used to at least. Decent arms/lever make the most difference, then the outer, and finally inners. Oh, and pads are kinda handy too! I've never personally been a big fan of the parallel push designs, but not had a lot of experience of them so can't say for sure if perhaps that's one possible source of flex etc that moght hinder the performance
  18. Looks like fun riding, but what's with the hideous zooming in/out wobblage?!
  19. EBC do, or at least used to do a range of different compound disc pads. For most disc brakes it's possible to get both sintered and organic pads - organic wearing slightly quicker and being a touch more responsive/grabby
  20. Sounds like it might have been overtightened perhaps? Either way, nice and easy to sort out, either by getting a new set, or by sticking a vee on instead
  21. No problemo dude I wasn't trying to have a go/be nasty, just trying to explain how I meant a little more as I didn't write it out all that clearly beforehand!
