  1. Damn anzo, shame you weren't here before I went, they all sound really good! We'll definitely put those on the to do list next time we're up!
  2. Picked up the new car yesterday, already put over 200 miles on it - today was a fun blast out to Wales. Massive step up from the Golf, I love it!
  3. Hats off to the officer for being so calm. I couldn't deal with someone like her.
  4. Five litre kegs of Paulaner are £9 in Waitrose at the minute. Wednesday night sorted. Get my new car tomorrow and finally get to hand this Golf back!
  5. Those were my first thoughts too, so I checked them first
  6. Greetings - it used half a litre at a track day recently and just under a litre going to Brussels and back (725 miles). Yes I've done a compression test, it seems OK. I can't remember exact figures now, but there was nothing suspect.
  7. @isitafox you must have some content for this, surely!
  8. To contradict what I wrote in the post above, I've just purchased a new intake manifold & gasket and a new throttle body & gasket. I've spent enough on the car already, might as well keep going
  9. So here's a brain teaser, probably more for the MX-5 guys, but in principle I guess it would apply to any engine. Since I fitted my "new" engine in the Eunos (March this year) it's done a few things wrong and continues to do so. Mostly because I haven't really bothered to sort it. There's two separate issues, which I think may actually be linked. Firstly, it burns through oil. Not a major issue, it's old, I can top it up. The problems that do concern me are: 1) It overheats and the fan doesn't kick in. I've replaced the sensor at the rear and at the front, I'm lead to believe the front one is the one that tells the fan to kick in. Today I warmed the car up and felt all the pipes and they all seemed hot, so I believe sufficient coolant is flowing. I did have to top the coolant up though, as the pipe into the heater matrix leaks slightly. I plan to bypass the heater matrix soon as a short term fix to this problem. 2) The car doesn't idle well. Setting the base idle to what it should be, it struggles to start and sometimes cuts out, until it's up to temperature. The alternative to this is to set the idle screw higher, so that it starts and idles around 1k. The downside to this is that once up to temperature, the idle sits around 2k. Even higher if you press the A/C button or pop the headlights on. Initially I thought these were two different issues, but I'm wondering now whether the fact that the car never thinks its hot enough to turn the fan on could be linked to the rough idle? Planned purchases include a new idle control valve and a new thermostat, but I'd rather avoid buying more stuff if they are not the fix. I've replaced the leads, the coilpack and the plugs. I checked the timing and it seemed OK. Any ideas?
  10. It's a lovely place, for sure. We're definitely going to be visiting again, we were there for three days and felt like there was way more to see. Similar in a lot of ways to Snowdonia, but more stuff to do.
  11. Whatever it is, it looks damn painful. I guess putting shoes on is less than fun?
  12. It's most things 90's or older really I'd say, I managed an engine swap in mine with a mate over a weekend. The main thing that slowed us down was rust - so many ruined bolts to chop off. I reckon I could do it in a day now that I've done it once.
  13. Stick to 90's Jap cars! After owning two Seat Leons and pretty much rebuilding the Eunos with mostly just axle stands, I can safely say I prefer older cars. Not just for the manual side of the job either, those dash lights can be a pain to shift. To be fair, I've learned a lot since owning the Eunos - I used to get mates to help or do the work for me, but I'm much more confident getting stuck in now. And on that note, discs and pads on a Punto Grande tomorrow, if the weather holds up. Not the most exciting job, but my girlfriend is pretty much metal on metal at the moment, which is not ideal!
  14. Yeah too late unfortunately, we got home this evening. All good stuff for future visits though, I'm sure we'll venture that way again soon - especially as it's not as far as I'd expected. We walked down the old A625 actually, there was loads of parts that looked like fun on a bike. In fact, most of the places we went I wished I had my bike with me. The A625 was fascinating, seeing all the layers of road was pretty cool. We started from the top and didn't realise what it was at first, it was only the white lines further down that gave it away. Pretty sketchy that it was used for so long after some of the first slides! Thanks for posting these up anyway, definitely going in the "future ref" folder!
  15. Nope we head home on Thursday unfortunately. Gonna go via Alton Towers I think. Mam Tor is planned for tomorrow, unless the weather is awful
  16. So far we've done Buxton, Matlock and we've just done Heights of Abraham and are now.munching chips on the weird non-seafront seafront. It's been good so far, pretty chilled out The cave tour was fun, too.
  17. As an ex-gambler, I quite like watching some of the high roller live streams. It helps when I get the urge, as I can get a similar buzz from watching others gamble. And if anyone has this problem, I'm happy to help, as it's horrible and most don't understand. Sorry, just realised I've made this post a bit dark! Oh, and it's rocknrolla channel that I refer to mostly.
  18. Awesome as usual. Love that first one. Where's this?
  19. Awesome list of stuff, cheers dude. I collect rum, but I'm more than happy to smash the beers - definitely gonna give that place a go Will refer back to this thread when we're there.
  20. It's my first full susser, so honestly I have nothing to compare it to. From my £500 Cube hardtail it feels amazing, but compared to other setups, I couldn't tell you. I also don't go massive, so probably nowhere near using it to its potential. The bike was RRP £3200, I got it for £1600 and it's done me well for over a year so no complaints
  21. Things are really heating up in the Happy Thread these days.
  22. That sounds horrendous. It sounds like you did well really, I'm not sure how I'd have reacted in that situation. Not much I can add to Luke's post really, but I'd agree that it's good to get some help / training, I'd imagine this sort of situation can be very haunting. I hope the girl is OK too.
  23. £52! How the hell did you manage that?! Looks great dude. PS, I like a good lemon drizzle cake, so if that could be first on the list for the wife and also if you could drop it down to Bristol, that would be super.
