Pink Hope aswell.....jeez you're going all out. You riding it around Europe with slightly more eccentric tastes and style so i think it will suit its environment beautifully. I bought my my those pedals for her bike, she receives a lot of comments and i imagine you will too. Screw what people think as long as you like it.......now go and enjoy it!!!

thats the sort of fun trials should be about... having fun with friends trying out a few tricks. I hope trials goes back towards those days and it loses and pretentions its gaining. Hell thats what all biking should be about, just having fun!

I'm wanting to run this combo front and back for a 24'' build i'm doing and i was wondering if anyone else runs this combo, where you got your spokes from and what spoke lengths you used? Ideally i want black spokes but at this point in time i'll take anything, i need apparently 239mm/241mm front and 240mm back.... i can find the 240's but not the other sizes? Can you get away with rounding down by 1mm with spokes? Also anyone else who has run this combo, have you had to buy your spokes in packs of 36 and had loads left over, as i'd like to buy the spokes individually, but halo spokes only do 238, then its a jump to 25...something. Also, can you get away with mix-matching spokes on the same wheel..for example 16 halo spokes and 16 DT to accomodate the different lengths needed for a front wheel? Any info would be great! Cheers.
-
Yeah CRC only sotck even spoke lengths ,thats why im wondering can i round down by 1mm and use 238mm/240mm on the front rather than 239/241 like i was told by tarty - i just cant see where its possible to get these lengths. If 1mm doesn't make too much differance then ill be fine...i'm just not sure if thats ok? I know some people on here run Rhyno Lite's on pro 2's so i'm desperate to know what they've done. Cheers.

People running Sun Rhyno Lites on Pro 2's..... where the hell are you getting your spokes, and what lengths are you using? I'm trying to build up this combo but can;t find the spokes (which have been calculated at 239mm/241mm-front, and 240mm-rear). I really want to run this combo, but at the moment its looking a lot easier just to use the DMR DeeVee's as the spoke lengths needed are readily available... Any info would be massively appreicated!!

Can you get away with using a spoke length 1mm less than suggested? Because looking around i can't even find a place that sells 239mm or 241mm spokes?
-
Excuse my ignorance, but does that mean you have to have different spoke lengths on the front wheel to accomodate the flange on the disc side? So for instance...16 spokes in one lenght and 16 in the other? Because when i asked tarty about the spoke lengths i would need for this build i was told ''239 disc front, 241 non disc, 240 rear'', does that mean 16 of 239mm for the front wheel and 16 of 241mm? I feel bad for asking them anymore questions as i've already burdened them with countless spoke related questions. Thanks a lot for your help, Matt.

I know what length i need....239mm and 240mm i'm having trouble finding places that stock or sell these lengths.......
-
I'm looking for some spokes in 239 and 240 for a 24'' build and i can't seem to find those lengths. I've tried ''all things 24'' and Billys.co.uk but i can;t seem to get hold of these sizes. What have other people done who run SUn Rhyno Lite's on Pro 2's? Any info would be great! Cheers.

Thats weird, i was at the Raleight HQ in Nottingham last Tursday getting some old parts for a Uni project and i brought up Martin Ashton by chance, and the guy who was dealing with me said ''yeah he'll be riding for Diamondback soon''...i was scepticle and said ok, he said he will still be releasing frames under his own name but would be working very closely with Raleight/Diamondback. Will be interesting to see what will come of all this.........
-
Yeah but unfortunatly according to the Lomographic Society it does have a meaning, it has a whole philosophy, and a lot of the time it is that which is causing all of the arguments....
-
Anymore opinions guys? They will be gratefully received!!! All good so far. Don't be shy!

I love the Inspired's, i'm getting one myself very soon too, but i'm nt overly fond of the looks of this one. I know your getting a saddle3, but from that pciture it looks 'kinda' like a normal trials bike, i think becasue its the first inspired i've seen with holey rims, and it is somethig i would never consider putting on a 24''. But the main thing is that it rides well and you love it, i'm going for a predominantly black one so i'll be interested to see how mine ends up in comparison!! Enjoy it.

Thankyou very much for that reply - pretty mammoth, but very useful. Yeah i guess its true about the rubbery focus ring, i got a lens recently for my old SLR and it was so cold when i got it that when i touched it, it completely fogged up, it was like that for ages....so of course there are some real advances with modern day stuff, and yeah i realise that with an L lens, predominantly you are paying for the glass itself, which is why i said i would have no problem ownging one, i was just a bit suprised the first time holding one. Thanks again.

Can you let me know what you think of it once it arrives. Also for the time being...what is it that made you buy/want it? Thanks, Matt.

Thankyou for taking the time to write all of that, its very insightful and useful, so thanks. In terms of the L lens, when i got my camera it comes with the usual kit lens which in feel and construction is beyond awful. I've tried a range of Sigma lenses which felt Ok, more solid construction but still quite plasticy. I've tried some Tokina lenses, which felt nice enough. Then recently i tried the Canon 10 22 which i liked the focal range of and was considering but was unsure of as its a EF-S mount, and i was also looking at the Canon 17-40. I fancied something with a similar focal range to the kit lens but obviouslly a better all round lens. After reading a million and one reviews for it, everyone said it was lovely, but the main thing i kept hearing was how good the build quality was, how it felt ''solid'' and so on..... so i was expecting something quite special. So i got it on a body and i just felt a little let-down, in construction it did no feel special, sure the manual focus ring had a good resistance to it, zoom, felt nice enough, but i didn't get that 'wow' factor and after finding out that the L stood for Luxury, i didn;t think it felt all that luxurious. The focus ring as its rubbery just didn;t feel amazing. I know they're great lenses, maybe i just had unrealistic expectation...but its just my opinion. I'd still own one but i wasn't amazed. Yeah i might get my self along to the Photography thread, could do with some more pictures. Thanks again.

Exactly, and wouldn't you know it i like to own vinyl, maybe i come across as the typical Lomo intended target audience as i very much like and am interested in art, however i'm not an art student and usually pretty clean. For me theres item from era's like the 60's and 70's that are so beautiful and nothing has come along for me that rivals it on the same level - maybe i'm stuck in the past. I know when i record music i prefer to record on reel to reel or tape, but sometimes for convenience sakes i record digitally, just like i eventually gave into a DSLR as theres aspects of it that are undiniably helpful, but for me it could never be something that i would love and cherish. Just like i was intending to buy my first L lens and i went to try it out, and you hear lots of ocmments on build quality and stuff.....when i got it on the camera i was dissapointed, sure it may help to take beautiful shots, but i didn't think much to construction. But i think if possible and your that way inclined, its nice to have the best of both worlds, they're both great for very different reasons.

It was Marcelle Duchampe, he was challenging the conventions of art, and was one of the pioneers of this. I wouldn't compare Lomography to what he did. To you you may think whats so great about turning a urinal on its side, but he was the first guy so say ''why not''? If its done after it has no effect, but you have to imagine at the time it would have been radical and completely blown the art world apart. Just like when you listent o a Jimi hendrix song these days, theres loads of guitarists that can play like that 'now' but when Purple Haze first came out it was so raw and in your face people just couldn't comprehend it. Unfortunately we do not live in a time where this happens so readily, we are all about continuing past conventions and not moving on. In answer to why i shoot an old SLR aswell..... I do actually own a OM-10 and i love it. Theres no denying i use my DSLR much more, but for me the experience shooting with both isn;t comparable. Sure you are just taking a picture and they are both just cameras but to me they feel a world apart. The only thing i can personally liken it to is wih guitars. I have a buunch of guitars made from around this time (2000 onwards) some are re-issues of classic years such as 1962 and some are just straight modern guitars. But i have a genuine 1964 Fender and theres just something when you have it in your hands, sure my modern guitar is more reliable, cleaner, more predictable but that doesn't make me love it. I know i can relly on my Canon, i know what it is capable of and how much of a help it can be, but it does not feel at all special compared ton when i use my Olympus, its a nerve racking experience when i use it, nothing to help you or to fall bakc on you just have to trust your judgement. Also, every DSLR i've ever felt feels like a bag of shit compared to old cameras, the build quality differance is silly! but in all, its just comething i love to have and even better is that ive got a serviced OM-10 with 4 various lenses, flash gun, tele-converters and extension tubes for under £100 all in immaculate condition...also the pictures that come out of it to me are beautiful, but i wouldn't expect everyone to feel like that. I started photography on old 70's SLR's so when i got in to it i thought i'd own my own partly to recapture that initial buzz of a new hobby, so everytime i use it it feels special. Thats the only way i can describe it.

Good to hear! Cheers.

I can;t get on board with music like that, one becasue i'm a musician and its a million miles from what i'd ever consider making, but also as it has no conviction for me. I get that its trying to be emotive and full of passion and feeling, but none of that (to me) comes across. its just some guy simulating a voice that is un-natural to him that we've heard a million times before. There is not an ounce of creativity or differance in the music, generic rhythmic riff with no tonal qualitities, washed out bass, and some guy singing through a million effetcs to make his voice sound nothing like what it would do normally. Music to me should be full of emotion and feeling, so if i want something that screams in my face with passion i'll listen to something like The Mars Volta or Fugazi, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Waits..... i don't see why these musicians always fall back on the cliche of heavily distorted, no mid range, gruff silly voice sounds. A lot of the time they're trying to sound angry and ancst filled, but i get none of that, its a show, a farce....its just plain false and i wish for once someone would not follow the rule book and do something different with the massively lacking incredibility musical genre that is metal.

Some interesting comments coming, thanks guys. Also i must clarify i'm not looking for personal abuse, of course i have ''a wordy opinion'' i have to write 10,000 words on the subject so lets hope so! Peoples opinions why they love or hate Lomo are great and are very useful. In case it is of any interest, i shoot a 1970's SLR, Canon DSLR with loads of extra junk like various lenses, flash's etc..... and i also own a few Lomo cameras so i have a very balanced opinion of the whole subject. I see why people dislike Lomo, i see why people love it, i am not 100% for one, there are both valid arguments here....to clarify i'm not a smelly art student. I do enjoy making art (i don't mean taking Lomo shots even though Photography is part of the ''arts'') but i also like taking a well composed, thought out photograph but i don't like to get overly bogged down in the DSLR world which seems full of penis envy, so Lomo can keep you sain some of the time...but as i said this is not about my opinion it was just to clarify so no one questions me as this is not what its about. All great stuff, keep it coming and thanks again! Matt.

Thankyou for taking the time to write that, its ideal, just the sort of stuff i'm after. however i'm asking for your opinion, not to have mine made up for me. In my dissertation i am putting forward my argument, referencing other peoples thoughts and opinions to give it relevance and insight, so thankyou for the rest of the text. It was an intelligent reply on the most part, but saying Lomo is aimed at ''Smelly art students'' brings it down in my estimation as it comes across a little immature, as your other reaons for why you dislike them have meaning and experience behind them....so in all thankyou very much!! Very useful. Cheers, Matt.

Well if people have opinions as i have said i would gladly listen as i'm very interested and they would be of huge use. But i'm not going to beat it out of people, if you don't want to say anything then don't but if you have an opinion please share, now's not the time for being coy! I'm nto here to play game's, this is serious for me!
