  1. A hope XC is enough, I used to run one on my old bike, (which was nicked) and still do on my jump bike. If your used to the low engagements its fine, ive only got a chris king now cause i got it dirt cheap, plus ive always wanted one to try long term (ive only ever tried them on other peoples bikes before). I remeber the first time a tried a king, it was even before i got my first hope hubs i think lol, when the kings just came into this country, and htought it was amazing because the pick up did feel instant, as i was used to a 'shitmano' with 14 engagement points, and unreliable ones at that, so 72 was over 5 times faster pick up, and all i could feel was the squidge in the tyre, so it was very cool. However, now ive gone from hope XC (21 rock solid engagements) to my CK, i have noticed a difference, but it doesnt feel as 'squidgy' as remember, i now feel the gap before it engages, even though its smaller, so its not that much different in that respect. I think you should stick with your hub until you need a new wheel, or theres a problem with it. The new hope pro 2 is out soon hopefully, i would have loved to get that, 48 solid hope engagements, which is plenty.
  2. good to see the interest back up (Y) met some random guy in soton this evening, he will prob pop along. should be a good ride, can't wait to give my new bike another proper ride, especially as i will have sorted headset problems by then (dodgy starnut).
  3. Wheel building is a good skill to learn to learn- i build all my own wheels now, i find it quite rewarding. The key thing is patience, don't rush it and don't panic! if it all goes wrong you can start again. Sheldon brown is possibly the best site to use, print it out and have it next to you while working. note the diagrams on the site are for a 36h wheel, not a 32 hole, but the principles are the same, just with 1 less spoke per group. Make sure you have the right size spokes also- if you want to do a radial wheel (straight out as you put it) thats fine as long as its on the front and your using rim brakes, but remember the spokes will need to be shorter than if your doing 3x, so if you already have the spokes, it wont work. The DT swiss spoke calculator is very useful, containing most common rims/hubs (although possibly not trials specific rims/hubs). I believe tarty bikes have a spoke size table for some common trials specific wheels.

    Google Whack

You guys do realise that as soon as you post these they are no longer technically a googlewhack (Y) (because google picks up the words on this webpage if you confused by that statement, so TF is another result on the search!)
  5. Red overdose me thinks! (Y) but otherwise very nice :) . May want to consider some stickier pads for the back though- koolstops are ok, but when they get dirty there grip will soon go.
  6. Almost feeling glad mine got stolen! ;) thats a pretty bad snap.
  7. uninstall everything related to it as said above, then insert CD and follow instructions. dont use windows add new hardware wizard. all should then be good.
  8. Ive got a surly SS cog and KHE collapse on my new bike and all seems good :ermm: nice wide base on the surley, and good tall teeth.
  9. ROFL Its alwyas a possibility that they will catch you, but if your 'leehcing' ie, just downloading from people/sites generally you will be ok. its people who upload, or share a load of stuff for other people to download that they try to catch first, mainly because its easier for them to trace, and because they can fine them for more (N)
  10. Ive got something on thurs afternoon, but if it doesnt go on too late (and the weather is good) i may come out after.

    New Vid

Also having probs with megaupload- any chance off diff server? (Y)
  12. Orange Zero Maxxis Hansventure 2.4" Is very close with a 521 rim, so prob wouldnt fit on a wide trials rim.
  13. Its not cheap, but its not really expensive. I paid £5.99 for a bottle (235ml), should do about 10 bleeds. in my opinion is very much worth it.

    Which One?

Creative did do a zen micro photo, dnno if it flopped or not, or maybe they only released it in the US, but i imagine that would be able to do some of that. There is an archos which would suit you down to the ground if photo storage as well as music is your thing, and it may be worth looking at others in there range. I had one for a while, and while it was very small for a 20gb player, and had good features, i didnt like the buttons and navigation (screen/menus were good, but took a long time to get though them with little joystick). Archos Photo Mp3 player Im not sure if this model does, but he next model up is also a USB host, meaning you can plug a camera, or any other usb file storage into it and transfer files across (Y)
  15. Would have fancied th trip up, but alas my uni timetable decided to put a lab session on thursday afternoon!
  16. Finish line 2.5wt shock oil! its the daddy. magura US wrranty department used to use finish line 5wt (as its the closest theing to maggie blood they could get for some reason). Th 2.5 is thinner, so feels like water, and has better lubricating properties than water and maggie blood, so is very good for the brake. totally mineral, and compatable with magie blood as well.

    Which One?

they have sorted the zen micros now :) i had one die from hard drive failure, but it was one of the first released, then the second one had the headphone problem. i argued for a refund but they wouldnt have it and sent me a new one ensuring me they had streghtened the internals, and so far so good. the latest ones also have more memory i belive, but i would go for the newest creative (creative sleek) which is in between the touch and the micro. looks like a slightly larger i pod mini, minus the ipodwheel, but is smaller than the touch with better looks, more storgage, and the features of the micro (full touch pad for example). Zen Sleek
  18. That really really sucks, its lost the whole festival feel now :) Plus birmingham is miles away from me, shepton was easy to get to. im not going unless they do camping of some sort, it just wont be worth it otherwise.
  19. Def go with ceramic. Ive just got me a new bike built, and the rear wheel i got has a D521 ceramic rim, hardly used. Got plazmatic CRMs on, and is very nice, aolhtough i havent used in anger. great bit and hold, but still has the modulation of a smooth rim, and great pad wear too (Y)
  20. If its pissing it down, i wont go out, at least not on my trials bike- il go ride muddy XC/ a little freeride(now that is good fun!). but if its just drizling, its ok, and also if it starts raining when im out then thats cool too- i wont go off home just cause its raining- may shelter if its really bad then go riding again when its stopped raining but wet.
  21. Woooooooo! new bike built is luuuuuurvely (Y) :S :S Sorry fred, might not see you tomorrow now! lol. might pop in with my new bike though, long way to cycle with a trials bike will see what happens. Did a bit of a ghetto headset fit, push it in a little with hand, put rug on desk so as not to scratch desk, bash frame+headet onto desk, repeat until headset cup is seated (Y) Seems ok so far. its short, but doesnt feel very short, but manuals and bunny hops, so im happy. i very much like, even have pimp Ti bolts :D looks like i will definately be out next weekend, and maybe this weekend, dunno when il get back though.

    Toxsin 24"

I think it would be very sesible for toxin to make a 24, as there frames are very good, affordable and well styled. since other companies are being slow to get on the 24 bandwagon, toxin could do really well by producing an affordable (compared to leeson and curtis, the only real options right now) 24 frame. If they did 2 versions, liek the stock bike, but with different geo that would be even better- a really streety one, and a more pure mod styled one :P
  23. I think its def a good idea, and shouldnt get in the way of the rest of the forum. I doubt there will be big problems of new members signing up just for the bmx section either, as this is predominantly a trials forum. As peple have said the bmx and trials scene's are getting increasingly close, with bmx'ers getting more techy with the street and park, and us getting more streety with our trials, we can learn a lot from each other. components are also becoming increasingly interchangeable. This should definately be a sub forum, even if its like chat and doesnt conribute to post count (if people are that woried about that), but shouldnt be JUST BMX, undoubtedly it will get used mainly for bmx as that is very popular with the riders here, but it should be a space for people to talk about other bikes and riding too, ie dh/freeride/xc.
