  1. that minis rather tidy for £1000. very low milage too, could be a contender if you would like a mini.
  2. Fraid not, minis although very nice, are a bit too expensive for this. to get a mini capable of doing the event before falling apart would need more money than they want to spend i reckon. Although it would be easy to fix on the way, good fun, and they are usually reliable once youve sorted any outstanding problems. As a couple of people have mentioned, a 4x4 fiat panda, they would be perfect. Im pretty sure my dads got one in andorra, dunno if he want to keep it, but needs new doors, they are rusted and one was broken into. other wise i think it just needs a service and it should be ok to go. i will see after new year whether its still there, and if theres any way of getting it back (has been standing for a year or so), i may even be able to give it to you for free, but it will need work doing to it! Fred, it would definately have to be the uno, and i think even that may have some computer management in it, but it needs to be as simple as possible, incase anything goes wrong.
  3. Right now i can't think of anything, but im sure theres something. I will however offer this advise, given to me not very long ago, but have been much apreciated, and i will pass on the wise words. It is better to regret something you have done, than somethign you havent done.
  4. good on you Tic! I was abotu to say Fred's been riding so long there must be an older pic than that his one lol. Even in those pics (apart form the one where fred is unrecognisable and looks like a chav ROFL) you have your Echo stock, and Freds got a half decent set up. We need some salisbury pics of you on your Scott, and Freds old school beasties. Maybe even Frank on his Zero, or Robbie on his. What about the Pashley guys? there must be some pics aroud of all the old school Salsibury lot. You might even find one of me on my saracen lol, or Adam on his uni, or Andy stretch on his onza! lol Ahh the good old days, i need to ride saislbury again, havent ridden it for far too long!

    Halfords......

Im working at halfords again this christmas, and working new years eve and new years day, while organising, running and going to a new years party! It will be fine! Then have to pack and go skiing on the 2nd
  6. Im not bothered about having a tiny comp, hence why i got a 'big' shuttle (about an inch longer in each direction than old ones). Im bothered about compatability and upgradeability. I have heard you can run OS-x on PC, but i have to say i am LOVING XP Media Centre, got a remoete control and everything. It was cheaper than XP pro, and its built on XP pro but with media features built on lol! It really adds a whole new dimension to the PC, all i need is a USB Tv card, as shuttle went and put in a PCI express x1 slot instead of standard PCi slot, fools, and i will have a full media solution . Also when i get my new screen after xmas, Dell 20" widescreen TFT (and apple guys, ite the same actual TFT as your cinema 20", just with more inputs and cheaper surround (and half the price) ) it will be a proper beast.
  7. So why is there a thread asking how to fix a broken mac Plus, im not too familiar with macs, there very expensive, i wanted to build my own machine, PC stuff is generally more compatable, PCs are now outperforming macs, even on territory macs used to own (graphics ect). To me there is no benifit whatsoever in getting a mac, apart from the lovely OS.
  8. Thanks for help guys. all working now, apart from the card reader (need a new internal USB cable for that). "My computer" seems to think theres a floppy drive though, when there isnt, do i have to disable it in the bios or something? may try overclocking too, but will do a bit more reading first. Oli
  9. now im getting somewhere! ive booted it with one of the sticks of ram, no hdd and no optical drive and with the card reader (interanlly usb) disconected, and its ready to enter bios. My prob now is i don't knwo which factor was causingthe problem, and i broke the usb wire when inplugging it, so need a new one of them now lol! will keep you posted. ok, still works with both ram sticks time to try some drives! whohoo! works with both drives plugged in too, must have bene the built in card reader. will it cause problems if i get a new cable and plug it in once the computer is up and running? Oli
  10. i can't unplug the front usb's without taking the whole mobo out by the looks of it, due to the way it is, hard to describe. i don't have any ram or a graphics card that i know that work unfortunately, unless i nick a ram stick out of our family Dell, but i have beel told dell are picky on ram or something. might still work. definately dont have another pci-express graphics card though. about to take everything out, and try with dell ram and not a lot of stuff. Oli
  11. will do after dinner guys. system can support 2bg ram. i can't do anything about front usb connectors- they are integrated and i cant get to that part of the mobo. Its a 350w psu, designed to be able to run up to 3hdd's in this chassis, so i dont think its a power problem. Graphics card doens not have external power, def gets it through pci slot. Would it be worth installing a floppy drive? even if its just to get it booted/set up. Its just the mobo manual says use a bootable floppy to format hdd and stuff. thanks guys
  12. Ok, came back from uni today and was very happy to find my new computer in boxes on the bed, and put it all together. The only problem is, it wont boot. Its a shuttle, and has a FN25 mobo. i have installed: western digital 250gb hdd LG cd/dvd combo 2gb mushkin RAM n-videa 6600gt (pci-e) athlon 64 3000+ venice I followed all instructions, so im pretty sure things are in correctly, but will check again. When i plug the power lead in and turn the PSU on, the DIMM power led comes on on the mobo. when i press the power button, the system turns on, fans are on, hdd led flashes, CD drive can be opened/closed. however, the screen doesnt even think theres an input, and nothing else seems ot happen. the keyboard leds don't even light (but interestingl they do flash when the power lead is plugged in). I have not heard a bios beep, but i have a feeling there is no internal speaker due to it being an SFF. there dosnt seem to be a plug on the mobo for one according to the manual, and i cant see one. I have replaced the cmos battery, and cleared the cmos, and its still the same. Anyone got any ideas? should i take it all apart and put it all back together? Oli
  13. ive done it on my plazzies, and seems ot help combat the problem of htem not working in the wet. they still loose performance, but not as much as everyone elses seem too.
  14. Unlike hydro disk brkaes that use DOT fluid, which is hydrascopic, so degrades if it gets water in it, magiies use mineral oil and so have no service interval over which they are recomended to be bled. magura supply a 5 year leak proof warranty on the factory bleed after all. I would still bleed them occasioanally, as you get ali and rubber particles that have worn off the internals. last time i bled a set, the old fluid was very dark with bits of stuff. Oli
  15. i doubt theree will be, but any places left? first time ive seen this post, looks very very cool.
  16. i do NOT like that black/white and colour combo on that pic . all colour, or all b+w please!and i hope hes not ben photoshopped in, hard to make out shaddow.

    Car

I seriously doubt theres much carbon fibre in the engine! (if any for that matter, maybe around the engine, but no as part of it) yes, its because they have very highly tuned engines and exausts designed for performance, not noise reduction like productioncars.
  18. In my experience, Mammoths are not as strong as they seem, and are quite heavy. Go for a 521/721 ( thin, but stupidly strong) or a sun rhino lite, similar weight to 521/721 but diff profile, again pretty strong.
  19. I rand up hope a few months ago, as i wanted gothic rotors for my XC bike, but they said they didn't deal direct (i thought they did for things like custom rotors ) and that i would have to order it through a shop, and i then couldnt find a shop willign to believe hope do gothic custom rotors. i couldnt do it through work either (halfords), as head office had no idea what i was trying to get, and they have to contact hope (silly centralised system). If any one does find out it would be nice to knwo the easiest way to get them. Ash, so what if Tom's maggy is fine? if he wants a disk who are we to stop him? Its his bike, and if he would like a disc, then i see no reason why he shouldnt upgrade. I personally much prefer a disk on the front to a maggie, as do lots of others- i do not htink we should deny him the privaledge.
  20. You can already get coloured nipples, DT swiss do them, and i think a couple of other companies may do too. The problem is they are anodised lloy, so are very soft compared to brass nipples and round off easily. A wheel is generally a stronger build with brass nipples as you can put more tension on the spokes. If you are/know a very good wheel builder, and have a VERY good spoke key (cheap ones will round alloy nipples imediatly) and really want the pimp colours, and small wieght saving, then go for it. I personally just preferthe reliability of brass nipples. Oli
  21. Hosted on Fotki and Hosted on Fotki are my favorites atm. both taken with my phone too i need a proper camera!
  22. It really would be worth your while getting tools and doing as much of it as you can yourself. you can get a crank extractor for £3 and there so useful, ok a BB tool maybe a tenner but it will still prove its worth over time. headset, fair enough let the shop do that. To fit a headset straight into a new frame they shouldnt charge more than a tenner, as its a 5 min job just needs an expensive tool anda bit of care. however, if they are reaming and facing the head tube first, then expect a bill of about £25. I ust buy a tool when i need it, then i have it if i need to use it again. Its good bieng able to work on your own bikes. i love building my bikes as much as i like riding them. (probably even more lol )
  23. Gay, will be working. damn me wanting money!
  24. Blimey nick, that is impressive! I thought i knew a fair bit, but nowhere near that much off the top of my head :P . Indeed, all hail!
