This evening a cyclist crashed into my girlfriends car, I would like to know, anyone with previous experience or knowledge, what could happen and who was in the wrong/right so heres how it happened. I was in the car as it happened.
The car was at a junction waiting to pull out, there were no cars but the bike was about 50 yards up the hill on the road we were to pull out onto which was 20mph, in my view plenty of space.
The car pulled out onto the road then waited to turn off another junction slowly edging along.
As we waited the cyclist crashed into the back of the car. We did not move, and got out the car.
I tried to help the man up but he told me to get off him. Once he had stood up he moved to the pavement and the car was moved out of the road while I waited with him.
He took details of the car and my girlfriend. I asked to look over his bike and check the brakes etc. The brakes were basically non existant, on full the bike moved easily, the tyres were also bare. When I mentioned this he literally cycled off.
So what could happen from this, considering the situation?
