  1. Why the hell would one want to chromium plate a frame? Just a 20 µm layer is enough to make it heavier than any other trials frame on the market. Surely it's better to just polish it...
  2. yep, the Porter one is awful, I'm really surprised he didn't finish up in hospital
  3. Another one of these. Try-All = Monty The only difference is the amount of shit inside each of them. Can't see the Try-All being any more reliable than the Monty seeing as there is almost no free space in one of those plus 50% more pawls to go wrong. Why would a Tensile therefore be better than a Monty and worse than a Try-All? Anybody care to shed some light on this matter?

    Actually it was all staged
  5. Can't judge them by how they feel on the bike but I've had about 10 221Ti freewheels in my hands and all of them clicked very nicely. The engagements are quick and quite even (meaning the pawls engage almost simultaneously). Not a single person who's bought one from me has complained yet, they're all happy with the performance it offers.
  6. early 90's 221 X-Lite with leaking brakes, bent bars, cracked & welded stem, 26" modded fork, 18EP freewheel which kept falling apart, a chain that kept snapping and a rim in which the sidewalls cracked, were welded back on and which instantly exploded when I pumped up the tyre. The frame once cracked when I pressed the brake too hard. When I think back, I wouldn't mind still having that bike. It was really fun.
  7. Well, if you think about it, the bike acts as a big lever. The longer the chainstays, the heavier the gear ratio will feel. It obviously won't affect run up distances etc. but will change the way the ratio feels. BB rise also affects this, in my opinion the higher the rise, the "heavier" the ratio. Just run 18:16, it's good for every setup although personally I find it way too heavy.
  8. So what happens if I run DD on a 221pr 07 with a 221Ti disc hub? The Ti has a 106mm spacing so if I put that hub into a PR the rotor will 2mm too far away from the disc tab. What hub do you use?
  9. Did just over 8ft on a 18:18 gear ratio, haven't tried going further after changing to 17T rear. I don't have the strength to lock the front wheel and do a wheelswap so I gap without using the front brake.
  10. Woho Rob, I can't believe my eyes That's one awesome bike you've got there!! Hope you still have it around mid july
  11. Best mod I've ever ridden was an 03 Levelboss long. I guess the geometry hasn't changed since?
  12. Nice, that kid on the Monty has some serious skills. Where's Ali C in that movie?

No, TRA rides ON his house, not IN it
  14. Very rarely have pics from rides so I had to put these up Call it a sidehop Nice pic Me sidehopping over a bench And two sidehops to my bad side. Just learned the move 2 days ago, can't get any height so I have to tuck small walls
  15. I liked that a lot. Smooth and effortless. Just a bit more variety in moves and it would have been perfect
  16. Also often dream about being in a swimming pool completely naked
  17. Not much, I usually earn money on changing parts. Soon to be getting a new full 07 221Ti build on a Pr frame for 420, guess I'll ride that for half a year or so and sell it for more
  18. I think the limit on that is 100mb. Work out an extended account on tv.isg.si, they will give you about 2gb of storage space. Not enough but better than nothing.
  19. Shorter stem dude. By the looks of things you like your bars quite high, I think Tartybikes have some short high-rise stems under the name of SystemEx. Keep the bars.
  20. Huh, useful advice... Check out Soul Kozak hubs. They're quite expensive but the best lightweight hubs in the world. I think the front hub weighs well under 100g and is very strong. Soul Kozak website
  21. You will need a new rear hub as the Montys have a 106mm spacing. At the cost of significant loss in durability, you will be able to run a Profile by bending away the rear triangle. You might want to have it machined to fit the frame. The 128mm bb is fine, at least it was on my bike. No problems with the chain line. Another thing is if you're getting a Monty frame, you might as well get the right stem to go with it. This would either be a 221Ti (if you're rich) or a 221Pr if you have any common sense (which after looking at your profile pic I think you have). Personally I'd also get the 221 bars and have them extended to about 710mm. They have a great geometry although they are a bit narrow. If you're going to run the Profile without machining it down, drop me a PM because there are a few things you can do to stop the frame from cracking. Edit: if you're gettnig a Ti you will have no problems with steerer length, the head tube is ridiculously short and the headset goes inside it. A Pr should be similar to the Zona.
  22. 5 snakebites on one ride. Guess it counts as unexpected because I only took 1 spare inner tube.
