This is how you f**k up a whole season of work - by running tyres which don't work. Most frustrating bit - nobody knows why this happened. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs1KoLBzsdg

Car ready for comp tomorrow. Frankenbumper is on, I wanted some cooling ducts installed for the brakes but was told that they're not going to work on this abomination. Wish me luck, I'm 1st overall in AB Cup which is the main event and 1st ex aequo with a fellow driver in BMW Challenge which is a sub group of AB Cup. 2 more rounds to go. There's an M3 GTR taking part tomorrow and a very good 318is driver has hired an M3 so it could be really interesting.

... what a video! The guy at the beginning looks a bit like Mr Bean or is it just me?
-
What's this all about?

Found his fanpage and he wrote that he went on the accelerator too early. My dad recorded the whole thing and indeed it looks like the rear wheel lost grip, then regained it at which point the bike flipped. He must be ok because there was no info about him being injured so perhaps it's "just" a broken wrist or something.

Went to watch a superbike race after recently bumping into a video of the TT on Youtube. Thoroughly enjoyed it despite my knowledge of motorbikes being limited to the amount of wheels they have and what makes them go forwards. Much more fun than cars although there's a lot less overtaking. Even got to see/record a crash but that wasn't fun. On one hand you're excited to see some more action, on the other it's not nice to see a guy in quite a lot of pain.

Just use a sharp knife and cut them away. No need to use any heat.

JD, I have an identical suspension setup in my E38 as you in the E39 and really the only thing that can go wrong there is a broken spring. If the top mount went through, it would also go through your rear windscreen. Jack the car up on that side and move the wheel up and down. You'll soon get an answer.

What's wrong with "trying too hard" that people have to complain about it rather than just watch the video?

The right tune makes a good video great. Really enjoyed that. And it's made me want to ride again.

Prawn's car is so epic, I love cars which have undergone proper evolution and weren't just built from scratch.
-
Couldn't have worded it better myself. I used to do this but now that fuel is cheaper, I don't bother anymore. But it still is fun when you're going on a long journey. How on earth are you supposed to have fun when the track is cluttered with cars?

Interesting indeed. I do know the absolute basics of quantum mechanics and I don't understand one bit. It's so annoying. This video just proves how ridiculous it is.

Not sure if this is BOTI material but it's an interesting read for someone like me who's interested in science but doesn't understand it. It's basically a very simple test which if I understand correctly has proven that time is not a constant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafele%E2%80%93Keating_experiment

Going to have an epic weekend on the 24th - we're going off to a place called Rallyland where the 4 of us will test each other's cars. The idea is that we'll all have 4-5 runs in each of the cars and try to set a PB, then compare it to times set by the owner and other drivers. So I'm donating the M3 and will be getting a ridiculously quick 318is with 150bhp, another 318is with 200bhp and a racing 328i. We've all agreed to put racing slicks on our cars with a nominal value. Perhaps I get the bad end of the deal but it doesn't matter, I want to drive the other cars to see how the hell it's possible that the 328i is almost as quick as my car, and the weaker 318is is only 1s per minute slower. This will answer the age old question - is it the driver or the car. At this level of competition it's not a question we can answer at the moment.

What a great idea. I'll partake if this comes back to life before my short holiday.

This isn't new to me but surely this must be the most extreme sporting event on the planet?
-
I have fixed my bumper. Before - 7 lovely pieces of bumper And after: Going to whack some resin on the inside which should make ziptie fibre, the strongest material known to man. That said, I will get a new one but the concept of fixing this is so amusing that I intend to use it for a while.
-
I don't get it. The only point of this must be to get attention, but then it's an Opel so why would you want that anyway?
-
This is slightly car related. One of my new friends from a rallysprint series reminded me of someone, I think I've finally got it. Yes / no? Haven't been able to find a better picture of him.

I'm completely convinced to start a wedding business in our family manor. I knew it had to be done sooner or later due to many circumstances but I'm now motivated and giving myself a deadline by April 2014. Going to be really exciting and if all goes well it could actually be a really profitable enterprise. There's literally a massive demand for these kind of places over here and the supply isn't great. My friend does this and he's sold out till mid next year despite being in a very remote location, I'm a few miles off an A road leading straight into a major city. Need to come up with a business plan which will probably take a few months, me and my gf are planning to drive around the country pretending to get married and find out what the market has to offer and what kind of needs it caters to.

S2k's are bloody nice. Enjoy it! Onboard from last comp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR9fz_L3qdo Feel like a noob for taking out those tyres at the beginning. It's clear what went wrong but I should have held it and maintained the line anyway. 25s penalty for that. Total time for the competition was over 36 minutes and yet those 25s cost me 2 places. After 5 rounds, I'm 1st overall in the main classification and 2nd in BMW Challenge which is a sub-group. However, that's the one that really counts.
-
That's the best you can do, the most annoying thing was getting a 25 second penalty. The bumper and windscreen are just things Will upload an onboard + external view + telemetry tonight. This mishap was caught on video but didn't look dramatic, there were just things flying off the car.
