  1. Did you take into account the head tube angle? I think it also affects this although I'm not sure what you're essentially trying to prove.
  2. Is it just the vid or are you really easy on the brakes? I guess that thing won't have ABS but it sounds like you're miles away from the wheels locking up, or am I wrong?
  3. For a moment there I thought you were going over to sequential. Really nice shifter!
  4. Not sure if the link will work but found it rather funny: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=487665401244783
  5. I'd happily take you up on that offer, I'll be staying at SW19 if I come over, got a lot of friends/family there. Sounds like it's fairly close by. Good to know that those cars are driven by women, it's a good thing right? Replace clutch and the rest of the car should be mint? I'm not entirely sold on the E46 M3 to be honest, I drove one while owning an S2000 and found it incredibly boring. It was sort of quick but it didn't feel fun to drive. Just an ordinary saloon car with sharp controls and a firm ride. That's my opinion, on the other hand you have motoring journalists and among others Chris Harris who hails it as the best and most complete car ever made. I must be missing something.
  6. I'd love to, sadly driving it to the UK would probably make my balls drop off and pubic hair grow on my eyeballs. All things considered, it's something I would like to avoid. Got plans to visit the UK next year, my dad's an engraver at Wimbledon and this is probably his last year, really want a tour of the place again because I hardly remember it. Either way, chances of being in the UK next year in a sports car are high. Looking either at buying an S2000 in the spring or using the trip to the UK to buy an E46 M3 convertible since they seem to be dirty cheap your end.
  7. I wish I had intel like that
  8. How does a 350bhp FWD car feel like? I think I asked in here about a possible 4wd conversion but was told it's a bad idea, perhaps now is a good time?
  9. I'm not sure about replicators but the way technology might affect our lives in the distant future is a very interesting topic. Anyone played the Mass Effect trilogy or the first and latest Deus Ex? They also raise some interesting questions about this very matter.
  10. Well it does make sense, but it also looks like the insurance companies are looking for any reason to bump your premium. If you drive a lot, there's no way you won't get any points unless you're properly anal. I've noticed how insurance companies over here are starting to pay attention to more and more factors. It's only a matter of time before they start behaving like the ones you have to deal with.
  11. So hold on, you get some points for parking in the wrong place / speeding / whatever and you have to deal with the consequences for 5 years? Dear god.
  12. Yeah that little SC was epic, always on 3 wheels. Not sure why? Badly set up? Seicentos and Cinquecentos are used a lot for ammateur motorsport, I think what makes them more popular is that there are whole race series held for these specific cars in A or N group spec. 126p's are more of a blast from the past, still around but used by few. There's really no reason to use a 126p over a Cinquecento even in terms of expenses unless you really want a slow, short wheelbase RWD car. No info on the Polo in google. All I know is that it's still a prototype and that it's essentially an Evo drivetrain and suspension mated to a small chassis. 4wd, around 300bhp for now. No idea if they kept the torque splitting diffs or not, I guess they probably did. Cheers! No more vids of the Volvo but there is a nice pic Still, my favourite car of the past few events is and has been this little thing. So out of place but so cool, also seriously quick.
  13. Yeah it's pretty wobbly. The shifter has no play, it's all in the gearbox which is pretty much shot. Doesn't bother me too much, it's only a problem when you have to go into reverse. Compilation of various shots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roNL0YUgQMk And an overall compilation featuring among others a ridiculous combination of a VW Polo and Evo X, still in testing:

  15. f**k yeah, 3rd place in class and 9th overall out of around 170 cars Apart from a DNF on the first run which I managed to repeat it was an epic comp. In total all the runs took almost 20 minutes, the difference between 1st and 3rd place in class was just a few seconds. Really consistent runs too, all 5 were within 1s difference apart from one where I made a stupid mistake because the handbrake locked up.
  16. Indeed, increases caster. My starting number is #7 tomorrow, not linking it at all. 1-15 are almost all Evo 9's, 10's and STR's which means a lot of pressure.
  17. Work on the M3 slowly coming to an end. Reworked fuel system with swirl pot and a Bosch Motorsport pump, fuel lines now on the inside of the car for maximum safety. The pump in the fuel tank needed replacing too because it imploded Replaced both front wishbones, one is new, ARB's now mounted to the wishbones not the struts. Will change back to strut mounts once I get proper suspension, probably going to go for AST. The D2 mounts are shit, caused me a DNF on the last comp. Diff ventilation fixed, all seals replaced, chassis strengthened, rust removed. Propshaft bearing replaced, two universal joints on half shaft replaced and a strut brace added for the front end. Should be finished tomorrow, needs aligning and hopefully that's it. Air intake needs re-working, also need to install HID's on low, long beam and fogs because the next comp will be a night event. But that's not for another 3 weeks. Before, this black bit was a big hole
  18. Engine oil getting into the intake manifold through a leaky turbo for instance. That causes the revs to increase, the turbo to spin faster, leak more and so the cycle continues.
  19. My friend just told me about a problem he had with his Mitsubishi yesterday, he experienced something called diesel engine runaway. Never heard of it before and neither did he, so I can only imagine the expression on his face when a car he already hates starts to rev beyond the redline without the key in the ignition. Here's a clip of what it looks like
  20. Well, last time I asked for help in here I got it in the middle of the night and it was very accurate (arc eye). Calmed me down loads, didn't know what was going on as the symptoms set in. This thing is slowly passing, vast improvement over yesterday. I think it was just a trapped nerve, no idea what could have caused it. Using painkillers and a powerball seems to have helped lots. Thanks everyone
  21. Don't see this as something to go to the doctor with. I woke up around 6am due to shooting pain from my left wrist. It hurts when in any position other than straight or when there's pretty much any stress put on it. The pain is most intense when performing a clockwise rotation, for instance I can open a tap but I cannot close it. I've looked up carpel tunnel but the symptoms don't match up, there's no numbness of the thumb or in fact any other part of the hand, no tingling or burning. Any ideas? I'm on pain killers now but would really like to sort this out because I can't work. edit: Oh and this isn't like a sore joint from when you've been sleeping in an odd position, it's genuinely painful.
  22. Greetings

    Curiosity

So unless there's only like 2 people playing this game, the likelihood of getting to the prize is close to none? Can't see the appeal of this to be honest. But from a different standpoint, it seems like a really clever concept. Would the final message be something along the lines of "you have no life?" edit: Worth a watch, it's mentioned in the article.

  24. You need to take what people write in here (especially chit-chat) with a pinch of salt. Relax.
